Nice build, how'd you get you farm irrigated so early on? Did you fill in a pond, or did you find a bucket somewhere? I like how you put your greenhouse a fair ways away from your keep.

No I just found pond and started farm right away. Also that greenhouse took me 10 min to build except smelting glasses which it was over in 30 min. Also I'm just good at farming and could plants more. But I got to do what the rules tell me :/
Speaking of buckets, I'm kind of sad. Last night, the first thing I did when I moved to the iron age was craft a bucket so I could get water to my fountain. Then I went downstairs to expand my mining operation. Wasn't more than five minutes in when I found a dungeon, and the loot included a bucket! If I'd just explored a little earlier...
Oh well. Having 2 buckets helped me start my hydroponics farm a bit easier. Sugar cane really doesn't do well in my environment
It's ok, I didn't invent it either... just saw it somewhere and thought "Oh, brilliant!"
Neat looking skin you're using, what is that?
The skin? It's something I made long time ago as I wanted one that wasn't very cluttered. It's actually not that good and probably needs to be replaced someday.

Ah, well I think it's pretty. Now that I think about it though, I think I meant texture pack, not skin.
So, um... I've never really built much with wood. I just had what we can call a "learning experience" with regards to fire.
Good thing that part of the wall was reinforced with stone, and the blacksmith's shop, well, I guess it can be rebuilt

Oh! Yeah, the texture pack is mine as well, called Wolfhound. If you like it, you should also check out the one the creator of this challenge made... I think she's got a couple now. They were my inspiration for making my own.
I'll have to do that. I've been resisting getting any texture packs because my boyfriend and I play on a home server with no textures on it, and I'm afraid if I get anything to use for just my single player games, I'll think our world is boring. There are so many neat ones though, I'm going to have to try some out.

Woah, you made that? Gonna go look now. And yeah, Steelfeathers has several texture packs out, and currently owns my 'default texture' title. ::EDIT:: Oh no, it's 64x. My computer crashes and burns with anything over 32. Have you ever thought about making a lower-resolution pack?

While it's true, using texture packs really lets you see the dullness in the default look, there's nothing wrong with playing on a server with textures...

may i try this? i would play my survival map as a continuation of my city building challenge. i would allow myself to be able to use enchanting table that i have in my main village. rest just strip down everything. also instead of spawn point (build a farminf village there) i'll just make a nether portal and make all the buildings around.
let me know nubz00rz ;p

Eh... I made a 32x32 one first (like I said, Steelfeathers was my inspiration and her Enchanted pack is 32x32) but I just found it too limiting. I don't think I'm going to convert Wolfhound to a small resolution either, as it loses way too much when I shrink it. Sorry. There's a ton of amazing 32x32 packs out there though, it seems to be a popular resolution, so you should be able to find a really nice one fairly easily.

Honestly, I like 16x packs myself (feathersong = the bomb), but I make a few exceptions for the odd 32x pack. If you ever get around to making a 16x or 32x pack you're proud of, let me know about it! I really like your style. Reminds me of Steel's work. [/shameless sucking up]

I am giving this a go and have nearly finished the wood age, I am just building the required wheat farm and have been doing some terraforming, I don't think it looks quite right still but cannot figure out what is wrong with the hills, I think there are too many straight edges, tell me what you think!
When the farmouse was first built (though only with half a roof!)
Then when the roof was done and the land had been flattened a bit and gradiated.
And what it look like now
Thanks Guys
How straight your hills are is just a matter of preference. Some people like the more "natural" look, whereas others figure "Hey, I live here, of course I'd do some landscaping."
I am curious though, it looks like your house is outside the wall, is that the case? Or is it just a weird angle in the photo?
I've finished the iron age... it's pretty cool, but for some reason, imgur is giving me crap. Suggestions for other places to host this stuff?
Imgur gives me problems from time to time, but it's what I use mainly... Photobucket has bandwidth limits, and a forum eats that limit up really quick... You could try Imageshack or tinypic? I've never really used either of those, so I can't really recommend them. :/ Looking forward to seeing the pics, though!

Tinypic has an annoying habit of switching your images with someone else's random images. So I've frequently come back to my topics after a month or two and found my screenshots replaced with someone's cat.

My spawn.
The tree wall.
And inventory requirements. I think I have everything in that screenshot, if not, it's in the chest inside.
