I have finished the stone age!
I went a little nuts, and make my keep out of three overlapping round towers, two with tall spires to the sides of the main entrance, one in the back with my bedchamber and the spawnpoint/treasure room, and the main tower is capped with a glass dome. So much glass. The main wall has a guard tower on each corner, and I used fences to fill in where it crosses a little bay.
Anyway, pictures!
The whole thing:
Wall and guard towers:
I got bored and made four snow golems, hence the little snow trails everywhere. But, they managed to jump out the windows of the guard towers and get killed at night :/
This one shows my wheat, and the dock that lets you through the wall on the ocean side. there's stone stairs up to a fence gate, and an identical dock on the opposite side.
some views from inside the dome:
That's a spiral staircase in the center, though i'm thinking of relocating it to one side or the other. It leads up to a set of walkways and a tiny little garden
Animals, mine, bedroom:
Bedroom needs some decoration, but it is a bedroom. Located just above the treasure room and spawn point:
and finally, the treasure!
It takes a while to get enough wool to carpet a room without shears 0.o
This should be all the treasure reqs unless i misread something. I used 64 sandstone, cause i over-harvested sand while I was working on that dome.
Oh, and the iron helmet fell off a zombie, which is awesome.
On to the iron age!
I think for the big wall around the current wall, I'm not going to do any more land-flattening, but just build up or over or around obstacles, great wall of china style. I'm also not sure what kind of floor I want to put in the domed tower. Carpet? Wood? Smooth stone? or should I just leave it grass... decisions decisions!
Oh, and that's Steelfeathers' FeatherSong texture pack. I quite like it, and I think it well suits the whole castle scene
Congrats, and I'm glad to see somebody else is still working on this challenge!
I really like your materials combinations there, the transitions from stone brick to smooth stone to brick is working well for you.
Just out of curiosity, what texture pack are you using?
Very nice. I would be right there with you but I am trying to mine down several mountains so that my castle/keep/town place can be a perfect square...The upside is that I'm getting a ton of stone for my walls which are 7 blocks thick and 19 tall.
I hope this thread is still going, because I'm still golden and have COMPLETED THE GOLDEN AGE! Whew, that took soooooo much time. I redid the entire keep basically from the ground up. Hang on, there are going to be lots of pictures.
Overview:
This is the whole town. You can see the castle and how different it looks compared to my iron age post. Right now its a bit too cobble-y. I hope to work in some more blocks as i can get them.
Still trying to work on this challenge. Its taking even longer than I expected since my laptop has slowed to a crawl...but yeah, once I get a new one I'll be right on it and finish my massive wall.

I'm using Rhodex's Painterly Pack. I'm a big fan.
