Natural Textures (examples, idea)
Removes the gridlike pattern created by repeating blocks of the same type. Uses rotated and flipped variants of the base block texture.
With the new ctm (connected textures) allowed by the 1.5 texture pack handling changes the creator of the texture pack can add this themselves, some are starting to now that they have caught up with all the 1.5 changes.
This texture flip is the result of the ctm written for the texture .png it still isn't a bug.
Edit: You can turn ctm on/off with MCPatcher if you want to verify what I am saying, the textures of adjacent blocks will no longer appear flipped or rotated.
If have a closer look you will see that the textures are two different ones, not one texture flipped.
As mentioned: texture pack.
In this case the block face shown has been randomized, not just flipped or rotated, the .properties file for block 16 in the Faithful texture pack reads...
method = random
tiles = 0-4
So each time a face of the block is displayed one of these faces will be used at "random"...
"I'm an engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like,
'What is beauty?', because that would fall within the purview of your
conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems."
Coal textures were messed around, anyway, fixed this by unpatching MC, then patching again with MCPatcher unchecking the Connected Textures.
I think Sigil's point was that many people would see multiple variations of a texture as a plus for interesting variety. I do think the textures could be made to tile a bit better to look more continuous.
No, it works perfectly fine, it started after 1.5.I switched to default minecraft textures, it is normal, but this has never happened before.
Since you are using Faithful Texture pack, there is something in there that caused this to happen.
Anything I can do to fix this?
I'm using MCPatcher
So am I.

I'm having trouble seeing a problem.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
