I'm assuming by old school you mean people who played before the full release and that is me i started at beta 1.7.3, I personally like most the new changes in Minecraft now so there is your answer don't play it if you don't like it.
No -__- I don't think anyone that's "old school" is going to declare themselves as "old school". I don't think of myself "old school" but I've been playing since early Alpha. Anyway thats not the point.
I loved the world gen in Alpha the most. I think everything was much similar back then. Grant it, I do like the new updates as well as the old ones. Get this. I still have a copy of a clean/vanilla .minecraft folder from Alpha. That's like my gold trophy right there. Lately I havn't been able to keep a survival world for more than a week just from boredom. But I will always like Survival more than Creative.
I must admit, I do play more creative nowadays than survival. Every once in a while I'll get the survival itch and go mob raging for a while, but that's usually short-lived, before the novelty wears off, and I feel like building again, without the burden of resource management.
That's old school? There were already pistons when you started! And you never got to experience the joy that was the minecart glitch-boosters.
I've been playing longer than most, if not all, of you. Back when I started, we ONLY had creative mode. You know Minecraft classic on Minecraft.net? That's all we had back then. And I remember when the first survival test came out...
Those were good times.
But as of right now, I definitely play more survival than creative.
I agree. I always play survival. Its gotten too easy though. There are animals EVERYWHERE and the mobs are nerfed way too much. In beta, i actually had to work hard for good materials and food. On my first day spawning in pretty much any world, i find 20+ animals and im set for like 40 MC days. Its taken the fun outta minecraft for me
I've been playing since 1.5, good times. Now I prefer to be a mod or something like that and let everybody else have the fun. Survival isnt as fun to me now that I know what to do and such.

No, you are still brand new to the game. Old school, is like before beta was released.
im i the only one when i play minecraft i dont got the same feeling as before idk how to explain that before its was better idk its weird if you know what i mean please tell me p.s i play minecraft seen alpha
when I saw "For the old school players" I thought it would be something made that would resemble something nostalgic, but no, I'm disappointed with another thread about how Minecraft's direction is changing.
If you don't like the way Minecraft is turning out to be, don't play it, go play another game.
I started early Alpha. I'm tired of hearing people complaining.
All games eventually get boring.
Contrary to popular belief, Minecraft does also, however I find Minecraft was the longest game to keep me hooked.
Us 'Old School' players have been playing for 1-2 years. Minecraft is eventually going to get boring. It's not the game, it's you.
I find playing things like Dwarves vs Zombies and messing on my creative mode flat world keeps me interested.

Correction, pistons were added in 1.7.3

Before beta was when Minecraft got boring quickly.
