Okay, the strangest thing has happened to me...and I can't provide any proof unfortunately because I replaced the file that I was originally working on with my backup (I esploded some tnt for a test...sooo).
I was working on my adventure map, in the nether, making sure some of my traps were working (the tnt thing)...so after I esploded a couple walls I exited the game file and replaced it with my backup...my problem may have been caused because I didn't fully exit out of the game when I replaced the original with my backup. When I went back to my saved file, the signs weren't showing up...so I tried exiting the minecraft client as a whole. When I went back...my world, some of it in any case was like...reversed. I have this tnt trap that leads to another tnt...but after I reloaded the backup it now lead to the last room in my adventure map, not the other tnt trap. Please realize, the last room is quite a ways from my first tnt trap...so it was extremely weird.
My last room originally had 1 set of doors (double doors) in it and a portal back to the regular world...but after I reloaded it had two doors! And the original set of doors lead to wall of netherrack... I turned around, facing away from the door and see another path leading to my last tnt trap...it was on the wrong side! I'll provide a ss in a moment...but it doesn't really prove anything since I can't compare it to an old picture. :sad.gif:
Edit: My file appears to be glitched now...I cannot place signs now...I mean I can, but I can't write anything on them and they're not visible now. -.- I can deal with the weird changie room thing...but not the signs.
There's something in the recent bug list on the wiki's version history page about caves rotating again. Apparently, it's an old bug that has resurfaced. 'could be what you've experienced.
Notch should really fix bugs in small chunks. It's basic knowledge that if you release tons of bug fixes at once and something goes wrong, you'll just have a ton of stuff to check over to find the problem rather than the change which broke it being fairly easy to determine.
Well, the good news is I just managed to fix my file...I exited out of the game completely and replaced my back up with my back up...and that seemed to fix things. The bad news is I accidentally tripped one of my own tnt traps, so I had to do this AGAIN...heh.
I wish Notch would fix the chunk bugs too; but I don't really know anything about programming, so I don't feel right complaining about it. I feel like the glitch I incurred was my own doing too...soooo, I don't feel comfortable complaining if that's the case.

Probably; I'm assuming it happened because I didn't exit the game fully after using the backup file...but I guess I could be wrong about that.
