Everyday I see people on multiplayer servers who abuse and pick on people with Steve skins. It is utterly ridiculous, people shouldn't receive this treatment just because of their skin. Steve skin users are often portrayed as ignorant, dangerous fools when usually they're just people who like the Steve skin or some sort of server bug/lag issue is stopping their skin from appearing.
To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
I've never encountered this.
I think it's because pirated people generally have steve skins, so they think of them as some pirate
It isn't the problem. This problem is generally encountered in large minigame servers, all of which would normally be inaccessible to pirates.

Who agrees?
Uuh, NO. The reason they are abused because most hackers who make a fake account can not access their skin. Although those days are long behind us, people still believe beside Team Avolition is back

That's ridiculous. Not everyone who has a Steve skin is a hacker, and everyone with one of those 'fake accounts' can usually only join cracked servers.

I have been playing the game for almost a year after buying it for myself as a new year's present and I still use the default skin. Just can't be bothered to change it really, and I think it looks nice as it is.
Whenever a random "steve", joins my world, I usually help them out, you know? Teach them the basics, give them some good food to plant, and a bucket of water, except when they have no pupils, the I run run run!
So-called "Steve Abuse" is generally derived from the stereotype that people with Steve skins are noobs, seeing as they probably don't know how to make or download a skin. And stereotypes are no fun.
This also happens in TF2. If you have no hats or a Ghostly/Ghastly Gibus, you are nobody.

I use a Steve skin, but no one ever gives me free stuff for it

I believe in the Invisible Pink Unicorn, bless her Invisible Pinkness.
I play SSP, but if I played MP, I'd probably use the default Steve skin.
I like the anonymity. People say they want to "express themselves" with their skin (or whatever else) ... but not all of us want to broadcast information to the whole world; some of us would rather control who gets how much information about ourselves. What would be the benefit to me of having a custom skin? Nothing that I can see.
Besides, it would act as a shibboleth, much like my forum avatar does. (which, btw, isn't actually the default, if you look closely) When someone tries to insult me or call me a "noob" because of it, I know what kind of person they are.
Does that really happen? Never noticed. I don't care what skin a player has. Some are noobs, some have playing a long time but don't know how or are unwilling to upload a skin, some just like the default skin.
I thought this was gonna be a "put a stop to Steve skin" topic and I somewhat agreed but my argument would've been there are some people who are younger and don't know how to change their skin, or people who don't play much and never changed their skin.
I think it's **okay** to use Steve, but it gets kinda annoying looking at him in like 50 different people at the same time lol.

Actually, people who use Steve skins are actually pretty nice. They just say they have the skin because they like it. I respect Steve skins.
