Well people not only LIKE it there is also SkyDoesMinecraft. Cause he has a MILLION subs,and his favorite thing in Minecraft is gold but he calls it butter, His subs (SKY ARMY RECRUITS WOOHOO) also follow. And AntVenom, he is a friend of Sky and he calls it butter too and um... they both have a million subs so like so many people say it and PLUS the people who dont have YouTube/Gmail accounts watch them too. So yeah, why not call it butter/budder ?

As BC_programming already said, gold isn't brittle. Though a gold sword might bend out of shape, it would not melt or snap in half like a sword made of butter would.
Gold is refered to as "Butter" mainly because of it's strength, colour, and shape.
The texture of the golden ingot, for whatever reason, looks like a stick of butter to some people.
Also, knowing gold is the worst tier in terms of durability, it seems as easy to break as butter would.
Lastly, a famous-ish Youtuber called "Skydoesminecraft" refers to gold as butter in his videos, and a mojority of his loyal subscribers (not all) refer to it as butter just as he does.

When you mine raw diamonds they come pre-cut. Trying to bring facts into minecraft just doesn't work.
Also, you're comparing a real piece of butter to a real bar of gold, not a minecraft piece of butter to minecraft bar of gold.
