My three main gaming partners are 13, and the rest are all anywhere from a year to 43 (I'm not kidding) years older than me. Age doesn't bother me. That being said, many of the new players are decidedly annoying, and while I welcome them to the community, it doesn't stop most of the younger ones from being utter **** obsessed with "L0L MAD GRIFF 420 DURR".

“Patience up to a point. Know your time, but work your wyrd always.”
I am not really agreeing with that.
I am 13 years old myself but i am not anoying. (well maybe my brother thinks i am anoying)
Most people just like me cuz i am a bit young and don't know that much of english so when i try to say who lets the dogs out (example) i say Who licks the dog's ass.
I cannot talk about every 13 year old kid but not every kid of 13 is annoying.
I made all of your typos bold for you, just for future reference.
Just looking back on myself a few years, I could see that I was annoying.
Statistically, more thirteen year old kids are annoying than twenty one year old people.
I'm not saying that every kid is annoying, I'm just generalizing for efficiency and time saving.
On this server I go to, we had a whole group of them. They'd share houses and chests, get into arguments about who stole what, spam the chat, ***** and whine at each other, and eventually started talking about one of their own private servers on our server. I think they all went and did something stupid enough to get them banned. I know one was advertising that other server I mentioned. She was a pushy *****, too.
If you are actually mature enough to pass some semblance of an adult, great, good for you, I really mean that. But there's a dime-a-dozen of others who are just annoying buggers and I'd rather not have to deal with the horde of them.
Call it discrimination if you want, but if it means some peace, then I'd rather just put it an age limit and quell some of the rabble.
Conversation i had with a 10-14 year old (age is assumed based on their behavior, dont actually know it) while i was in the middle of building my base on a server that is based on factions, i was the only other person on the server at the time:
him: Hi
me: Hi
him: Herro
-30 seconds pass-
him: im so bored
him: want to start a faction and build a castle?
me: sorry im a bit busy right now
him: im soooo bored
him: need any help right now?
me: no im good man, this is for my faction and need to work on it right now
- he logs off then comes back in under 5 mins-
him: man im still bored
-he sends me a tp request, i ignore it-
-sends another request, again i ignore it-
him: why arent you accepting?!
me: sorry im just busy right now, il accept when im done with what im doing alright.
-continues spamming tp requests until an admin came on-
obviously not exactly what was said but this is very typical of lower aged players of minecraft, lots of spam, blatant disregard for other people, not to mention what would of actually happened if the kid had gotten his way and tped to me or me to him. Its for reasons like this why you get the automatic way of being towards your age group.
The best thing to do is act as politely as possible, dont intrude onto other players, and just dont let age come up in a conversation, if you dont act like someone who would stereotypically act in your age group then chances are when age does come up they will be very surprised to know how old you actually are.
I tried to join a server recently, and I was rejected for being 13. So I look at some other threads (Mostly of clans and servers) and most have age requirements.
Why?
We can be as mature as anybody else, it's just most of us choose not to. Why shut out the mature ones just because of some morons? I use grammar, I know the english language, I am mature. Why am I not allowed on most servers/clans?
Would some server owner please explain to me how I, a person that has never griefed in my entire life am not allowed on your server, or at least most other servers?
I don't see how this would be in the wrong section, but if it is, I'm sorry.
I agree, there is nothing wrong with someone being 13. I have TONS of friends that are 13 (35 to be exact,) and I don't see anything wrong with them, or me, for that matter.
I'll put it this way for you guy's. There are plenty of 13+ year old kids who are mature. But majority of the minecraft community (I find) are 10-13 year olds and they're the ones ruining it for the others. It's those kids you should be complaining to cause they're the ones who are immature. That's why you don't get a chance because of those guy's. Sorry to break it to yea.
Probably, because every single 10-13 year old on a server asks if he can get creative, a stack of iron blocks and wants to be an admin. And you can't trust them, because they think they can just push you around on PvP servers when you clearly don't have anything else than a stone pick.
This is the reason I hate little kids. They're immature and probably some spoiled kids.
But, if some kid doesn't do that, I treat him the same way as everyone.
Every single one? Don't even say that. I am 13. I'm mature. I think before I act. I'm twice as mature as some 16 year olds I come across on minecraft. I use almost 100% perfect spelling and grammar. Don't believe me on that one? http://www.minecraft...-the-bison-war/ - Most people were surprised that came from a 13 year old kid. "And you can't trust them, because they think they can just push you around on PvP servers when you clearly don't have anything else than a stone pick." Isn't that PvP? I highly doubt that you would not kill someone on a PvP server with just a stone pick if you came across the opportunity. Of course, that decision depends on the type of server. For example, if it was a faction server, you might not want to kill him if he's a member of the strongest and largest faction on the server, but if it was an all out anarchy PvP server, then I can understand why someone would do that.
There are legal issues with having 13 year olds on media forums with older crowds. Like a 13 year old going to an R rated movie without adult supervision. The child's parents could get the Forum admins and server admins into trouble if they don't like that their kid was on said forum or server. Children's Online Privacy & Protection Act, also known as COPPA.

Essentially all forums remove responsibility for this in their terms of service, that way, the forum can't get in trouble.
There are many older people who act just very immature. Idk why people use young age as an insult or why the discrimate against them. I would rather have a mature 6 year old than an immature 25 year old.
I am 12, and I hope this post grows massive, I have been rejected like you and treated unfairly just because of my age. This is a prejudice cliche, and it needs to stop now. When I join servers I just don't mention my age and let them treat my based on my actions, it's anonymous and fair. For example, I help people while on the main server I play on. I also never verbally abuse other players, grief, or steal no matter what. By doing this most of the players thought I was at least 17. +1 to you.
Stereotyping about age is going to happen, simply because it can. It's so much easier to assume that twelve and thirteen year old kids are going to be doing the most damage (because they are). People are going to be lazy, there's nothing you can do about it besides wait.
It isn't always a maturity issue. Sometimes it is a comfort issue and having nothing in common. There is a huge gap in life experiences and things to talk about between a 13 year old and someone in their mid-twenties.
We invited an 11 year old to our server once and it was very awkward since we had to severely restrict our conversation. Although, I guess that is a bad example since she ended up stealing TNT from someone's chest and when asked where she got it she quickly signed out....
Well I beleive that those clans and servers may say things in game or in any group chat via any software that may not be appropriate for 13 year olds so it might be for your safety. Or it's just the maturity problem. I personally have seen a lot of people act more mature than others older than them

I'm fourteen and I've seen things that no one should ever see. I don't care if stuff is inappropriate - nothing bothers me anymore. I've been on the Internet for the majority of my life.

This.
I am 14 as well and being a common internet user has basically prepared me for any future things people call "inappropriate". Mostly, this came from Youtube Poops when I was in 5-6th grade. However, I have rarely seen age discrimination be a problem for me. This, however is most likely just because I very rarely am asked my true age on the internet (aside from making accounts). Usually when people in the age group being discussed here think they are mature, they actually are. But there is that occasional "mature youngster" who thinks he/she is mature just because of their grammar/attitude when really most of the things they do annoy the living f**k out of you.
These people, and the outright obvious asshats of the internet really need to straiten up to make the internet a slightly better place.
I'm 43 years old and there's a life lesson to be learned here, so I hope you're willing it listen and remember when you're my age. There is a massive divide between adults and children. Age is the measurement and in rare cases maturity can be a factor. When you're a kid, you're teachers and parents are the majority of your adult contact. They job in life is to listen to what you have to say, help you grow, and be your mentor. They are not your friends. They treat you nicely and are very helpful...like a friend should be. But again, they are not your friends. Most kids begin to realize this right around the time they become teenagers. When you, at age 13, step outside the teacher/family circle and encounter other adults who have no connection to you, it's a shock to realize that adults don't have to like you.
Additionally, it's human nature to associate with other people like ourselves. We group people into categories and stereotypes, and you don't always get a choice. In the '80s I was a "metal head" by choice and a "nerd" by force. The key to breaking out of any stereotype (pay attention to this) is to recognize it and refuse to play. What people think of you matters nothing more than a pile of sand. One swipe of the hand and it scatters into nothing.
Keep in mind, this is all part of growing up. When I was 13, I was oblivious to this too. I'm glad you were willing to ask. Go be 13 and if some stranger on the Internet doesn't want to be your friend: it's just sand.
I am 13 as well, going on to 14 in two months. Pretty mature as well. I also tend to think about my life/future as well so I'll keep what you said in mind.

He is a little kid jsut because he's annoying, and all and only little kids are annoying? No sence whatsoever.
