So as the title says, Notch tweeted saying that he would rather stop selling games in the US than go through the messed up legal system. So my questions to you guys are:
1. Will this affect you
2. Do you think they would really stop selling in the US
It goes without saying that if you stop selling anything on the internet, especially video games, to the US, you're not going to have a very successful business.
The number of Minecraft fans outnumber the US Army. We could theoretically take over the US and get rid of the stupid stuff.
Don't let the fact the US spends 700 billion on Military expenditures a year intimidate you... that's just for research of super-weapons to obliterate the planet.

Outnumbering the US Army unfortunately doesn't mean we could take over the country seeing as there are still 300 million other people to deal with.
The only thing selling to the US would accomplish is people from countries where it is available leaking and cracking the client. It's already been done many times for Minecraft for the people that can't afford it - but there have been plenty of people who used a pirated version as as a "trial" and then proceeded to purchase the game.
Mojang games would still get to the US, and plenty of people will still play them. The difference is that they wouldn't have a chance to make any money off of them from the people over here.
I've already got my Minecraft though and none of the other games interest me. I highly doubt they will create some amazing game that will take over Minecraft either. Truthfully, no game interests me enough anymore where I would even remotely consider pirating it. I just buy games that are available and play through them. If I can't have it, oh well. I'll play something else.
I'm not worried regardless. It's a stupid business move to stop selling to what is arguably the world's greatest consumer market for entertainment. That, and anyone who's going to do anything to make money, especially something like video games, should expect to get into legal battles regularly, over nonsensical stuff that probably wouldn't even make it to court.
But of course it also doesn't help that the media sort of throws it out there that "IF YOU DON'T LIKE SOMEONE, SUE THEM FOR ALL THEIR WORTH". That sort of mentality isn't helping anyone or anything.
I'd rather stop selling our games in the US than to continue be at the mercy of their messed up legal system.
He's making a point of how much he thinks the legal system is. He thinks it's so messed up that he (hyperbolically, if that's even a word) stop selling games in the US.
He never said Mojang even might stop. He just was using that to make a point about how agonizing the legal system is. Nobody really likes the legal system, depending on where they live.

I could believe it if they did.
I agree Sir_Veillance. Minecraft is, and shall be my only interest.

More like not abandon their money.
LtKernelPanic. That is cold.

This would never happen.
2) That's highly unlikely considering a lot of profit comes from the US/North America region
