I suggest that large dreadnought style warships be present at all major cities located near water. It would be very cool if each had it's own name and ensign. Just an idea for you.
If people were to send in maps/schematic files of a steampunk nature, would you look at them and add them to the world?
Also would you be interested in a custom map generation code to make something like a floating island world? Afterall, you'd have more success at filling a world up if 95% was just air, futhermore if you ran the world with the steampunk airship mod, and Planes mod you'd have a very 'in character' way of getting about the world too.
Meh.....no. I was planning to have most of Stormhaven buried underground but then I took an arrow to the knee so another underground city just wouldn't fit.
Looking for a lore writer...anyone interested?
I'll be your lore writer!
I'm very good at making up stories.
Just P.M. me like some pictures, or something, of certain areas, and my imagination will take it from there.
(I'll try not to get TOO crazy with it, or TOO detailed, if you don't want me to, it's your map.)
@Avalan, Not to be rude or anything. But you seem rather sarcastic and rude to some of these comments. It kind of bugs me. I know nobody likes mean folks, but honestly, the truth is the truth. It kind of annoys me some of the comments to your critics, as that's what the community is. A place to embrace constructive criticism or just plain rude, ranting. I know you are committed, but can't you just take a chill pill about some of these comments. Oh and I know someone will retort back to this comment with some rude remark, but just a warning, I don't read anything that looks remotely rude. :wink.gif: Thanks, I'm just sharing my opinion. Have a lovely day.

(Note: This is my opinion, and only my opinion. It is not meant to be taken as an insult.)

Interested in anything like that?
Even though those pictures are epic, the world has already generated, and Gasglow is currently in construction.
And yes, the maps/schematics would be cool, but please just post them in pictures.

I already have two people trying out, so if you want to help, just post an example of your writing so I can see how good you are. Then I can compare you with the others to see who's better suited for writing. Good luck!

I don't mean to be rude in any of my previous and future comments. Its just that everyone is like "YOU CAN'T DO THIS!" and "THATS IMPOSSIBLE, YOU'LL NEVER GET IT DONE!", ect. I'm just getting a bit tired of it. Its quite irritating.
I said it once, I'll say it again: I. DON'T. CARE.
I am determined to get this done. Very. It may take years, but it will be completed. THIS I SWEAR!!
I'll need a sample of both your writing to see which one of you is better. Good luck!
EDIT: Wooooaaahh...what the hell happened to the quote boxes??!! Why are they green!?
Okay, gonna give it a try, here we go:
The city of Windhaven was a Glorious city. Its wealth was beyond measure. There was only one problem: they were running out room and supplies. Because they had removed all precious ores from the Earth, they had run out of both coal and iron, essentials to the Windhaviens, they had to find a solution. However, the Windhavians were afraid to expand their city, in fear of the great unknown. Tales of "the creeper" were told to young children at night, when the elders of Windhaven sat by the fire and recited their tale. The city's fear of the outside were so strong, they did not leave the city. And, the city remained as such until the great king, Avalanchetter. It is said his plan was mad, for it had never been done, but because of the large population, they had no choice but to exit their glorious city, into the vast emptiness of the land. He paid his men generously and appointed many guards at the construction site.
King Avalanchetter was eager to expand his kingdom. He had seen the sufferings of his people, they were crowded so badly people say "If you walk to work, it is similar to swimming through oil". Whole extended families lived in small houses. The city of Windhaven had to do something, and King Avalanchetter was the one to lead them. He used all of Windhaven's wealth to spread their city out towards the very edge of the world. And so it began, and the city resounded with the sound of saws, hammers, and picks. Slowly, but surely, the city made its progress.
However, King Avalanchetter had no wish to stop after the outer city was built. He wanted future generations to be able to live in Windhaven, in prosperity and happiness. He continued to expand out, building more and more. He sent scouts,in his mighty airships, to search for suitable locations for another city. Soon enough, one of them found a large, flat area of land. The king named this land "New Babbage". However, building New Babbage was not going to be easy. King Avalanchetter knew this but he did not turn away. After all, few things that are good in minecraft come easily. Construction of New Babbage were soon underway.
Okay, I think I'll stop here. I hope you like it. I tried to incorporate Windhaven and since your the builder, I suppose you get to be king (no duh..) Also, I used New Babbage as the second city, as it sounded like a good name for a colony. Hey, BTW if anyone is reading this, please like it if you think it's any good.
Edit: I think green boxes is your computer screwing up, it's not happening on mine.

Uh....Off the top of my head, I do have some lore from a Minecraft Adventure map I had started working on, but gave up on.

Titan's Last Triumph:
"O, Titan, raiser of lands, and ruler of our known world. Five Hundred years ago to this date, Titan, master of what we now call The Floating Kingdoms, now sleeps the eternal slumber, as he wasted his last breath "Saving" our kind. When the world below suffered what historian's now call "The Lunar Plague" Titan was our hero. When night would fall, our moon would rise, and cause monsters to form out of the darkness it's self. Thousands of us were slaughtered, night after night. Soon humanity would come to a stop, leaving only the immortal Titan alone on the planet. So he used his amazing power to raise up a continent from the sea...And once it was on the surface, he raised it even higher, to create a sky sanctuary. To light this sanctuary, we use Glowstone. As Titan explained, Glowstone is the embodiment of hope, and so it is very common in the depths of Hell it's self. Where the crying ghastly spirits' abandoned hope collects in such density, that it literally forms a light. With this light, and our great height, we never had to worry about the creeping evil below. Titan was named our king, and he led us through life, everyone was happy. Until one incident nearly destroyed us all...One of the boogie-men of below somehow got up here on The Floating Kingdom. It was frightened, and scared. It never wanted to hurt any of us. It grabbed a piece of somebody's lawn right off the ground, and held the soil in it's fingers. It had never known such a miracle as grass, or soil. But the grumpy old man who owned the lawn was furious, that was 'HIS' lawn! So, he grabbed a crossbow, and shot an arrow at this frightening shadow creature from a realm of eternal darkness. But alas, it vanished! A teleporting boogie-man!? This demon could surly destroy all of them! But before the old man could even apologize, he heard a high pitched whisping sound from right behind, and a fast mumble that was never deciphered...and the old man fell over dead. The town of course went into an uproar! Titan was to blame, half of them believed! Titan can save us, the other half said. Titan, of course, tracked down the frightened thing, and showed it to the people. "It's just scared, is all..." But the people of The Floating Kingdom were repulsed at the monster. So Titan, poured water on the poor thing, and it squirmed, and screamed as it died. One problem solved, but another still open; If one of these life enders were able to come up here, who says another can't? "But Titan could protect us, right?" "Titan was the one who let this happen!" And so war broke out. Titan, in the end of years of fighting, split them up abruptly. Spliting his Kingdom in two, and the floating continent in two. And he stopped being King of both. He was tied of humanity acting like a bunch of cranky children. Eventually, when people had to lead their kingdoms for themselves, war broke out YET AGAIN!
So, Titan, in one last move to stop humanity from destroying it's self, separated the continents further, and further, until each kingdom had it's own little floating bit of land.
After such a ground breaking achievement, he died. People were flabbergasted, as he was supposedly immortal. And so, it became tradition on the full moon of every month to carry a bucket of water nearby. And once every year, send flowers to his grave site here by this wall."
I know this is less "Lore" and more "Legend" assuming there's a difference, but it's the best I have for you right now. Once you show me YOUR locations, I can give you lore that ACTUALLY relates to your map.
I don't think you should do this legit. Building is already hard enough. And how bout just doing it from edge to edge instead of the world map. Still almost insane, but slightly more possible.
Hey Avalanchatter, what if you put the files where the screenshots are and put it on a flash drive and borrow a computer from a friend? Or do you have a public library that has computers for checking out?
Because I just saw the post with the large Islands, I decided to write this:
Sit down my children, and I will tell you a story.
A long time ago, before the land which we stand on today was created, there was a large ball of fire, guided by an angry spirit, who was uncontrollable as a wildfire. No one knows why it was there or how it formed. This fire was a large fire. But, as all fires do, they died down, for they burned all the oxygen around them. The fire became rock and the rock solidified and became land. But the fire inside cooled and was less hot, all because the spirit of fire was entombed within this large rock prison. And soon after the cooling of the land and fire, life was formed. Life, like you and me, started small and grew larger. And the first man was made. The first man was foolish, for he had no teacher but experience. This man, one day was foolish enough to journey down a cave to the center of the Earth. There, he awakened this fire spirit by accidentally spilling a bucket of water into the fire. The fire spirit became enraged and attacked this foolish human. However, he came prepared, and as the spirit rose and up and about to smite him, he poured yet another bucket of water, but this time on the spirit itself. The spirit had never known suck pain as it had felt before and in its agony smashed a hole through the Earth bottom, right into a vast ocean. The water poured down and more and more and more until the spirit could no longer bear the pain, he killed himself. Throughout this conflict, the fire regained its intensity. However, it could not escape its rock and without its master, it lost all sense of direction and flew around, until the Earth, already weakened by the spirit, burst into many different pieces and scattered the pieces around. Our foolish human, did not die, as you know, for without him, we would not exist today. Some of the fire mistook him for the spirit of fire and shielded him. However, he was sent through the air by the explosion. When he landed on a small island of land, he noticed the dying fire next to him. He carefully nursed it, from embers to a roaring fire and they became friends. That is why we use fire to heat our food and work our engines. Although the fire was friends with the human, it sometimes got out of control and when it did, you did not want to be near it. It burned and burned, as habits are slow to break. That is why we do not play with fire, nor let it become too large, lest it remembers the days of its youth. Now you may wonder why the land did not fall back down. Because off the explosion, it was blasted so far back it is actually falling still to today. We will not hit anything because there is nothing under the earth anymore. And the human eventually made more of himself and made "shes" and minecraft became filled with them. They built cities to live in and killed other surviving animals for food. And all of these descendants still have the foolishness of the original human no matter how hard they try to destroy it. And still to this day, man's descendants try to get rid of his foolishness by going to a "school" And that is why you have to go to school young children and stop complaining.
Hey Avalanchatter, what if you put the files where the screenshots are and put it on a flash drive and borrow a computer from a friend? Or do you have a public library that has computers for checking out?
The laptop is out of charge. Since it is out of charge, it can't turn on. Since the charger won't charge, I can't turn it on. If I can't turn it on, I can't access it. If I can't access it, I can't get the screenshots.
Oh, and for both you and The_Dragoon...
GRAAAHHHHHGGHHH!!!! CANNOT--DECIDE--BOTH--TO----AWESOME----RAAAAAAAGGHHHHH*head explodes*
I'm sorry! I just can't decide! Your amazing writers, the both of you...
I don't know who to pick....*whimper*

Ha ha ha!
Thanks for the compliment, I suppose. Don't worry, I won't be upset if you don't pick me. But may I point out, you are going to have a LOT of locations to have lore written for. (That rhymes ) So if you want detailed lore for EVERY area on the map, it's probably in your best interest to get 2, 3, or even 4 writers to make the lore, because the odds of finding a writer that can write THAT much lore alone, AND that has enough time in their day to really give it devotion would be like finding Sasquatch.
I suppose buying a new charger may be a good idea :-) unfortunately, that costs money :-(
If you can't decide, what if you had both of us work together on the writing? 2 heads better than one. (dunno if that's actually true)
Yes it does. And I don't have that much money :-(
And yes, that's a great idea!
I'll send both you and Dragoon a timeline of Aeris Britannia as soon as I can so you can understand it better.

I'm looking fowred to working with both of you :biggrin.gif: !
I like the 'chieve, but I don't understand the furnace..
Also, this may be the best steampunk song I have ever heard:
Good luck with the overall project
