Nope.
Minecraft has done nothing but improve. All the features you want are still there. You can still play is JUST like that. Minecraft has only expanded it's horizons. If you still want to play a specific style, then do. You don't need game limitations to stop you from expanding.
I've been playing for about 1 and a half years now, and I kind of feel your drift. I just feel like they add to much quality before adding the quality. However the RP feel was added in to enhance the survival feature of minecraft which I think is awesome. I just think there should be an easy way to disable certain features via config.txt or whatever.

Yes. Since I've started Minecraft, I've had sounds, new mobs, and new shaders. This is just getting out of control. I mean, when I started, it felt like a game that was the best to play ever. I felt right playing it. Then, I discovered modding. I then thought that this was optional to add, not to deter from the game. I then got all of the new stuff, but it's just too overwhelming.

What? You think I can't make a good signature? Well... You're right..

+1, and your sigpic is so annoying I had to adblock it .-.
i feel the same but remeber they are still develping minecraft as well as scrolls. Other games idea could have influenced the newer updates. as for the crative part i completely disagree. i played minecraft for the survival aspect of it and the 1.8 update made it so much better. the 1.9 update will add more things to survival but when it comes to creating things nothing has changed. you dont have to incoperate anything from the new updates in any builds.
it went from being about creating stuff to being about creating stuff & adventure...
Got more MMO like if you ask me. Although I clearly felt the need to add more to the game to improve long term playability, it was disappointing to see them take the easy way out by adding "adventure" (and half baked at that). Would have loved to see more on the creative side being the important focus and native support for plugins would have made the game infinitely better.
In a way... It has, BUT it has also created many new and exciting possibilities! I just want them to get rid of the NPCs and EXP. That REALLY doesn't fit minecraft and I think it takes away from the "awaken on an island... Its all yours" feel.
i know what your saying. notch is making the game for long term players now. so new players wont get to know that pleasure we felt when we built our first house. or that time you found a mine under your house and you spent hours in their and then you got losts and couldnt get out. or that first diamond.... the first diamond you ever found. just sitting their and shining in the dim light of the cave.
sure the players will still have these events but their experince will be difrent then what we have done.
Minecraft is a sandbox game, which means you can do whatever you want. Don't like a certain feature? Don't use it. Hate survival and adventure? Use creative mode. It isn't difficult.
Guys, it was meant to be the game it is right now from the very start. you say they established a game based around building, but no, they were making the game, making sure you could still walk around without the game crashing, and adding the equipment before making the GAME part of it. Besides, as said before, creative mode still exists, if you want to just make stuff, just make stuff
The good side is that after the official release there will be such a huge variety of ways to play the game (mods, textures) that everyone will customize it exactly the way they like.
This is not possible not because of frequent updates not compatible with mods.
the last news bulletin on this site is good news for me not because of the latest content but because it said the code of the game will not change much from now on!
*cough cough* Creative mode *cough cough* Incoming mod support*cough cough*
I play SMP exclusively. I'm not going to see any great new additions to the creative side unless they have a new update. I would have loved to have seen tons more textures and building materials/options. I would especially have loved to see a 'shrink' to allow you build on 1/2 height blocks and have better control over redstone (i.e. put 1/2 step over redstone wire and place another wire on that step, direction selection (make it stay as a L shape instead of |).

What about the people that want to create but at the same time still collect things like someone in survival minus the whole survival aspect except maybe death(runon). I also somewhat despise the creative mode inventory, TMI + Normal Inventory was better imo...
Still, the only think i would take out of the game would be npc villages along with the npcs, as they take away the ''All this world is yours'' feeling.
New worlds I generate don't have any of those new things... *rolls eyes* I hate the new giant dungeon things as well..
everyone stop your bitching.
Everyone has a different opinion, there will never be something that everyone on earth agrees on, so dont argue about opinions, learn to accept them.

You are worse than an overly religious person. "If they disagree than the must be wrong"
