You might say:
"But he was joking you trololol idiot go delete minecraft because that solves problems herp derp!"
Well, he isn't joking. How do i know? Let's look at the confirmed upcoming features:
NPC villages (Granted, he did plan these for a while. However, he decided to implement them after he went on a spree of playing terraria...his competition...as opposed to making things for Minecraft)
*Terraria Counterpart: The ability to make NPC villages (slightly different)
A new mob (New mobs planned all after his terraria spree...hm)
*Terraria Counterpart: Lots of different mobs
Different style dungeons (Again, after his terraria spree..)
*Terraria Counterpart: Different dungeons such as Underground jungle, Corruption, Actual Dungeon
More complex combat (After terraria spree, again)
*Terraria Counterpart: Methods of combat such as shooting star guns, magic, etc
More unique and interesting world generation (This is pretty vague...though the slew of underground and dungeon-related things he decided to add comes right from terraria)
*Terraria Counterpart: There's lots of different features in a generated Terraria world.
Big mushrooms (From terraria, again.)
*Terraria Counterpart: Underground giant mushrooms.
Underground ravines (Improving the underground, which is so prominent in Terraria. copying again)
*Terraria Counterpart: Most of the exciting things are underground.
Oh, this is just silly. All of those things are not only extremely vague, and so you can't really say in any definite way that they resemble the features of Terraria, but they're also rather basic elements. I've been playing this game since Alpha and I'd expected most of these sort of basic features to be implemented as the game progressed. In no way are they unique to Terraria, they happen to be general and obvious choices of direction, which would explain why both Minecraft and Terraria are implementing them in some fashion.
The only exceptions, the only things I couldn't have anticipated, are the giant mushrooms...But they seem to be a staple of fantasy gaming. You might as well say he's copying Morrowind.
I'm not saying he's making an exact copy of Terraria, the games are different. But a lot of the features Notch plans to implement are coming from Terraria. And the mobs might not be Terraria based, but after so many updates, the only mob we get is a Wolf. After he plays terraria, he decides to add even more mobs. What's a prominent feature of NPC interaction in Terraria? Different mobs.
OMGOMG PERFECT WORLD TOOK ALL IT'S PATCH UPDATES FROM WoW!

If you can seriously come to this topic and say that Notch is not basing Adventure mode on Terraria, you are the most naive person I know.
- Notch stops producing content to aid his competition [play terraria]
- Notch plans adventure update after he decides to do something with his million-dollar corporation
- The update is based around things that make Terraria different/better than Minecraft
- You post on this topic saying Notch is not copying Terraria and that i'm dumb and should delete my minecraft files and play terraria.
Mr. TEKsterful, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Idiot. Just cause terraria has those features,k he's not copying. You make BIG assumptions. Plus, terraria was inspired a bit from minecraft, he can use a bit of content from terraria. Are you saying Battlefield is copying Call Of Duty, or Kirby is copying Mario. It's a completely different game.
But the Battlefield you're thinking of (Bad Company, since you're 8 years old and don't remember the original that came out before Call of Duty) pretty much did copy Call of Duty as its MO, down to the crappy Tom Clancy-esque special forces campaign, perks (yes I'm aware unlockables came in BF 2 first), sprinting, consolization, etc.
Your analogy of Kirby and Mario also hardly makes sense, since the same company was responsible for producing both, so obviously they're going to have similar elements. It's not like anyone was shocked that Quake revolved around finding keys and opening doors and walking out the exit while shooting monsters just the same as in Doom.
You are right in one thing, though - that Minecraft and Terraria are actually quite distinct when you get down to it. I know because I've played both extensively. However, Notch is bridging that gap. A guy who once said that he didn't like to take suggestions from fans, he is now almost purely implementing mods and ideas that cleverer designers have come up with, and rest assured that his misplaced fame will result in him grabbing the glory for it. These are not assumptions, except for the latter statement, he is literally putting in ideas that he could not have come up with himself, adding them in his "development phase" so he can act like he came up with the idea after the fact.

You just quoted an Adam Sandler movie and thereby assured that no one would take you seriously
When two games are in the same or similar genre, they tend to have elements similar to one another. In addition, almost everything worthwhile has already been done in video games, so it's hard to be completely original.
Yeah but let's put it this way so as to sum up my entire point. Imagine you're playing Doom for 15 years. Romero, Carmack, all the guys go to some con and talk to Warren Spector or something, then JC comes back and says that they're adding dialogue, an inventory system, and greater exposition. Then all of a sudden Call of Duty: Modern Warfare comes out. Then suddenly John Carmack releases a patch or writes in a .plan update or something, "Hey guys! I have a great idea! What if we added locational damage, crouching and pronation, unlockable weapons, and killstreaks??"

Maybe it would have been a little bit snappier if you had had a journal entry from Re-Digit in the 80s, where he goes "Wow this Final Fantasy game is great, time to take down notes of what to copy" and then proceeded to spend greater than the entire development time of Final Fantasy to implement one small facet of it - because that is more analogous to what Notch is doing.
Really, you are pathetic. You try to prove something without bringing ample evidence to the table. Just drop it and stop playing Minecraft, clearly you aren't very good.

hey guys, i was playing some darksiders earlier today and i realized something... it's just a rehash of Castlevania but in 3d, sure it has better graphics and a different plot line/game mechanics, but they both have big swords and some ranged weapons, and there are monsters in both of them, not to mention the whole good vs evil thing, the guys who made darksiders obviously have no idea how to create content or have ideas, we should boycott there new game or something.

Are you trying to say that Darksiders is not generic, derivative crap that no one cares about? Is this truly the claim you are making?

and you copy the endless legions of NDF posts who get so butthurt that they can't take a breath for a minute and try to understand the contrarian text in front of them
was this meant to be ironic?
The second you bash the supposed NDF, you automatically become a guy who bashes notch on every thing he does. So what does that make you, the NAF?
Do you understand how easy it is to lie on the Internet? I could say "I'm 9 years old" and nobody could know on the internet unless they knew me personally (And believe me, it can be a small world where I live).
Also, when you distill every game in a given genre (FPS, for example) you should be able to see that they are virtually the same, like people. The core elements are all the fleshy things we all have, and the different parts are the individual things we do, like our personal thoughts or our hobbies (if we have any).

so OP, your idea of content is not adding the adventure update planned (in some form) since the beginning of development just because a game similar to Minecraft came out.
so yeah, reiterate other things said. -> You whine, herp derp, Notch is master thief, Infiniminer ripped off Minecraft, blah blah blah.
Your logic implies that nearly every "genre" of games is merely a collection of copycats.
"Grabbing the glory"? What exactly leads you to make that assumption?
-Is the twitter post highlighted in the OP not one where Notch explicitly says he's inspired by Terraria?
-Has Notch not been completely open about Minecraft being chiefly inspired by games like Infiniminer and Dwarf Fortress?
-Haven't Mojang consistently given complete credit to Modders whenever they directly use their ideas/code?
-Have they not always been totally open about their development process?
-Why is everything Notch does a bad thing?
In all these cases, I've never seen Notch try to go back and say "No guys, this thing was really my idea" as you say he will. Whatever you may think of his business practices and development strategy, his actions (especially this twitter post) suggest nothing but humility to me. Honestly tell me, because I guess I'm in the dark about this. Has Notch ever done anything in the past that would make him a glory hog?

Not that I know of.
Seriously though I'm still trying to figure out why the **** people think Notch is the only one who works on the game, or comes up with ideas. That would be like saying Steve Ballmer comes up with every single ****ing feature of windows, Steve Jobs invented the GUI and MS stole it, or that Linus Torvalds is responsible for every single feature in every single Linux distro, or that RMS is responsible for anything but breathing and wasting space. It's just plain wrong, and exercises a fundamental misunderstanding of the way things are.
