I try adventure maps or go to Mulitplayer and PvP all day long. It's always fun hacking away with a sword or shooting with your bow and arrows at a bunch of people climbing a wall.
I'd suggest something like getting Nethercraft on the seed 20% Cooler molding a portal with the lava and buckets and live in the nether before you even make your first night shelter. Or you could try a challenge run like never going to the surface or the tree spirit run, also dicking around with invedit can be alot of fun. Build something. Leave on the nearest boat, repeat until you circle around and find your first structure.
Mo' Creatures is one of my personal favorites, it adds lots of new mobs, both animals and evil ones.
If you're getting bored of exploration, Millenaire adds human NPC villages that you can discover and interact with.
I mean it's really hard to just recommend one or two. In my opinion the official modding API could not come sooner. Some of the things the community has come up with are light years ahead of what the vanilla minecraft can do. Go over to the released mods section and just check out whatever threads catch your eye. It's tough trying to get a bunch of mods in one game to be compatible, but it's usually possible, and there are tools to help you out. Seriously, mods are the best way to go if you're getting bored.
Don't get Mo' Creatures on anything with anything you want to keep on ground level, damn ogres.
Ogres ain't **** if you have arrows. They're actually nice to have around because they give yo obsidian. And you can turn them off if you want to. Besides, Lions and Tigers and Bears oh my!:Diamond: .
but i feel that recently its lost its playing value to me. ive explored so many concepts it seems that its gone dull.
any ideas of what i can do to to "re-live the glory days" or "try something new" ?
thanks.

He wants to make the game better, not worse.

You don't HAVE to play mincraft forever. And we aren't paying a subscription so we shouldn't feel obligated to play either.
Go play another game, you don't even need to return to Minecraft if you don't want to. It's a game not a lifetime commitment.

i beg to differ.
Or this. Then again, if you wanted rational advice, you would have gone somewhere else right>
