Hello. Today I want make a mushroom trampoline suggestion. I searched it and the only one I could find was the black pixelized whale's, I'd name it if I could remember how to spell it. Deyoni I think...
So I bet a lot of people have known of mario and how in the new games and maybe old he jumps on the mushrooms, and he bounces really high. That is what I am suggesting. Most people say stuff like, "You just jump on any random part and you go bouncing," a lot. I want to say something different.
How it works:
Each mushroom type has a pressure point, the farther from it the lower you go. A picture will be at the bottom of this section.
Mushroom biomes give you a higher boost.
You may not hit any pressure point at all and just take fall damage.
You don't take fall damage if you hit any pressure point.
You can bounce forever.
Fall damage is reset for every pressure point you hit.
Regular mushroom that are grown will have default pressure points, but you can edit the NBT files of the block to make the pressure points rise and lower, thus opening opportunities for map makers. EX: Parkour, bouncing pvp, etc.

Deflect entities!
So, to one of the members who posted here, they said that I didn't say that you could deflect entities. Well, I'm mentioning that now. You can.
How does this work though? The same as players? Yep... but what if entity was from the side...?
Well, the way the block determines how high you go (j/p=e, Jump divided by pressure point jump height= Extra blocks, when the number winds up with a remainder, it just throws that away, say the lowest goes by a 2 block increments, every 2 blocks you fall from another is added) would be applied backwards or to the side. As for the side, if you walked 100 blocks away the the lowest pressure point, and walked to it on land, you wouldn't go 52 blocks to the side, But in a different case, if you FLEW to the 100 blocks without stopping and then to the lowest pressure point, you would go 52 blocks to the side. Every block you travel through on a non solid block would give the same effect that the vertical would. But since the player is 2 blocks tall, and endermen are 3, what pressure point would be counted? Well, the lowest block on their body. Why? Well when was the last time you bounced on a trampoline with your head? Same with the upside down case.
But what happens when other entities hit it? What happens when you hit it, that's what. It acts the same, but for bosses that fly and bats, would they bounce everywhere? Well I'll make a pole for that, in my opinion no, because they fly A LOT and they would just go everywhere and possibly despawn. But since entities could deflect, what would this do for map makers?
PvP 'curving' arrows, shooting around walls. (Side mushrooms)
Wall jumping parkour.
Puzzle map possibilities, bounce the arrows into the right position.
Etc, etc.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
The people that go to MLG (I know that was a bad joke).
NBT Data.
Can open new map opportunities .
Can be a cool way to get to your house, jumping by mushrooms over a canyon.
Make legit trampolines without redstone or command blocks.
The pressure plates were just for example, you don't have to craft anything.
No new items.
Side and upside down mushrooms working.
Cons:
You have to grow the mushrooms in certain places or you need mycelium.
Places without the plates will just give you fall damage.
May interfere with some maps that exist.
Might get a but buggy.
Well, that's the suggestion, hope it was a bit different then the most thought of mushroom trampolines, since I added the pressure point and NBTdata part (Now I can easily imagine my voice saying this in a bragging tone), and hope to see your constructive criticism.
That means don't just say "No." without a reason. Even if you are supporting, give a reason why, I'm almost sure posting just 1 word will give you an infraction.

Invert the pressure points as the support is in the middle. Not that compicated.

An actually decent idea, the problem I have with it is that it's not practical to me. How often will you be above a giant mushroom, and have to get to the other side of it? I agree that bouncing along them to your house could be fun but it seems to much work to code.

Some people are like slinkies; not good for much, but fun to push down stairs.
Cryogonal: the Pokemon that makes you say, "What the heck am I looking at?"
I would prefer it if mushroom blocks were simply bouncy in general. That way, you could construct bounce platforms for innovative map designs.
I don't think you read the NBTData part. You should be able to edit the data of each mushroom block, therefor making a huge landscape of mushroom blocks. But in survival, wouldn't work.

The only difficult part to code might be the pressure points and the nbt data, because this one guy made a plugin for bukkit. The only thing that the guy didn't do. I'll link it.

I support. Would be nice for map makers as they have nothing of this relation.
The closest thing they have is a command block and a pressure plate. In fact, there are command blocks under the red mushroom that will teleport you between the red and brown mushroom, so if you sprint and jump on it, it will teleport you halfway. I would make a vid, but I don't have the software. Plus it is nothing near what this suggestion could do, because it would just be intsa-teleport and just plain old boring. Oh and pressure plates and string would be everywhere.

Thank you Zippy, I can never say anything without sounding greedy or nervous.
@Acknid, as Neo said, there's a map called Mushroom Gorge. Like in the picture, you enter a cave and hit the mushroom and you go flying! It's really fun.
And at everyone, I'm adding a supporters list.

To all who asked what video game by Nintendo I got this from (They seem the like them shrooms) it was just the fact that mushrooms appear bouncy in a lot of games, so it is mostly from anything Mario.
Sorry this is a seperate post, I just ninja'd myself. The above comment said almost the same thing but the where I got it from.
What if I used a Silk Touch ax to get a mushroom block? would that bounce me? if so, would it act like the edges, the center, or in-between? And how high would i jump on a mushroom anyway?

Hrm. Good question. Maybe the pressure points would be determined by the ID of the block and maybe the ID can vary throughout the block even more.
As for the jump heights, I'm not so sure on that, it would need to be balanced yet functional, so if there is 4 different pressure points, 1 block jumps would be useless, so how about 2, then the next 3, then the highest 4. That seems a tad bit low, but it could also be coded in how high you jump from, for example if you get on a 4 block tower and jump of the 2 block pressure point, you would go three blocks instead. So the 3 block pressure point would be 6 blocks, just to make it simple.
h/p=e
Height divded by the pressure point jump equals the extra jump height that you get.
That is the super duper simple form.

I'll link it.
There are more games than that which use bouncy mushrooms.

Oh sorry, yeah actually I do.
Neo is right, even Mario Kart used mushrooms! Anyway, great idea, I also believe it will be hard code but good idea. SUPPORT!
Boosting a vehicle =/= trampoline.
Someone hasn't played Mario Kart for the Wii yet...
The red mushrooms in Mushroom Gorge are bouncy! It's mainly what makes it a fun map.
