Dear, this topic started out fairly good and then went down the litter.
Both sides are (in my point of view) pathetic and should instead of discussing what time Minecraft is in and when this and that came, discuss balance for the suggestion, come with critics, questions and such. Not "No" and then starting to blabber how it won't fit.

The suggestion was written fairly well and you should respond fairly well. Both sides would benefit if they just took some time and wrote a proper comment.

This is the mob. These are the mob's stats. This is what the mob does. Here is where the mob can be found. This is what the mob drops. The drop is used in this and that.

This is a valid suggestion, as it explains in perfect detail a single entity, the mob.

Person B posts a vehicle suggestion that works with Minecarts:

This is the vehicle. Here is how you craft it. Here are other items that work with this. Here is how it interacts with Minecarts. Here are it's stats.

This is also a valid suggestion. Although the suggestion implements several items, they all are directly related to each other.

Person C posts a food suggestion:

Here is food A, food B, food C, and food D. This is what food A does, food B does.... This is how you acquire food A, food B...

This is not valid. Neither of the food items are directly related to each other. While all of them are food related items, they do not work together. This gets red-flagged as a wishlist, then locked.

Despite the effort you put, your suggestion is the same in structure as Person C.


As for your last point, the OP of that thread needs to better organize the topic; providing links to the best arguments is a good move.

also the reason I compiled them together is alot of them share the same ammo or materials for ammo craft, and I didn't want to spam the forum with all of these all at once

I know the post was too long, but most of it was not boring background info or anything like that, it was just the crafting recipes, and the stats for the weapons themselves

I'm not a fan of guns in MC. I typically don't post on stuff I don't like, but have no legitimate gripe about. In this case I figure I'd say that if MC _was_ going to add another ranged weapon, I'd prefer the crossbow. After that, the black power rifles are at least somewhat acceptable because the items necessary to make them are in the game (though I don't favor them).

It's a matter of opinion. Hence I gave my opinion At least I told you my order of preference.

I personally don't think guns fit the theme of MC as I see it. I don't claim to be the supreme ruler of all things MC though.

That said, if you want mechanical complaints, I don't feel like you did enough to differentiate the weapons. The primary differences are ROF and damage. That seems like you're setting it up for one of the weapons to be the best.

when you use a large amount of valuables on one thing and a few items that are worthless on another, I would hope the one requiring more valuables is better, example: iron vs diamond sword, why would they screw us over and make them both do the same damage, also I did do more than just alternate damage and rate of fire

Balancing the same thing by the type of material is ok.
Example - A diamond sword is better than a iron sword

Balancing different things by different material cost is not ok.
Example - A heavy diamond sword which requires twice as many diamonds to craft than a regular sword but does double damage

The better thing always make the lesser things obsolete regardless of cost.

the guns use iron, the bows and more primitive ones use wood, these will most likely not make the primitave weapons obsolete, their cost for maintenance and ammunition is far too high (didn't do that on purpose, only way to make it somewhat realistic), plus guns are far supurior than bows in the real world, in this idea they are only significantly more ideal for usage, but not more ideal for mass production or mass usage

You're thinking to literally. You shouldn't think about a specific gun or ranged weapon you want. You need to think about how that item would fit in with the rest of MC. You want to create a item that doesn't overlap another item and you especially don't want to create obsolescence.

So don't say "Well, guns are the best weapon in real life therefore they should be better than all other ranged weapons." Instead, make just one new ranged weapon that has a specific balancing mechanic. I don't want guns, so I'll leave that up to you to figure out

we have lots of other items that overlap, what about the different types of food, armor, tools, building materials, all of it. The reason they do it, is to add variety, nobody wants dirt, stone, and wood blocks. So this would be add to variety to something that has no variety in a game that is always trying to promote variety.

This is good stuff for mods, which always cater to specific Minecraft tastes — but vanilla Minecraft is a sandbox game about mining, naturism, and survival. Weapons, other than the very basics like swords, have no place in it. Potions are already a tad off the original Minecraft aspects, so...
