although some may disagree with some of the aspects mentioned here, I would request you review them fully, I personally like all of these ideas, obviously some people may not.
-NEW ENCHANTMENTS
refer to this to see the weights of other enchantments: http://www.minecraft...tment_Mechanics
-endless reservoir I (weight 0): it gives the firearm infinite ammo, but can only be obtained via a book that has a 1/150 chance of being found in dungeon, cave, and spawner chests', cannot be acquired off of a enchanting table
-rifling (upto V) (weight 6): adds 20% more accuracy per level, somewhat rare enchantment, can be obtained via an enchanting table but only lower levels will be obtained, or buying from blacksmiths (10 emeralds for rifling I (30% chance of getting it), 20 emeralds for rifling II (25% chance of getting it), 30 emeralds for rifling III(20% chance of getting it), 40 emeralds for rifling IV (15% chance of getting it), and 50 emeralds for rifling V (10% chance of getting it), these are percentage chances after the blacksmith decides to trade a rifling book (the chance of a blacksmith trading a rifling book will be "uncommon", so around the same chance as getting diamond armor and certain diamond tools)
-inciendary (upto II)(weight 2): inciendary I is the exact same as flame I, but inciendary II makes "on fire" duration twice as long
-NEW WEAPONS (atlatl, sling, crossbow, throwing staff, arquebus, flintlock handgun, breecher musket, and the improved musket)
-NEW AMMUNITION TYPES:
PAPER Cartridge (they would be more primitive than this one, this one, is from around the late 18th century)

-crossbow craft (in order from gold, iron, to diamond frame): these first 3 crafts are frames, their names will be as follows; gold frame, iron frame, and diamond frame.
THE BOW SIMULATES THE PREVIOUSLY CRAFTED FRAME YOU MADE
-crossbow ammunition craft: yields four arrows
0 F 0
0 S 0
0 C 0
-ARQUEBUS

-arquebus craft: 2 step
1. barrel
2. arquebus (the diamond sword represents the barrel that you previously crafted)
arquebus ammunition craft: this will yield 4 arquebus ammunition
arquebus repairing: simply repair it with iron ingots
reasoning for craft:
use this chart for reference
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
arquebus: slot 3 is the percussion hammer firing mechanism, slot 4 is the barrel, slots 5 and 6 are the housing area for the chamber and firing area, slot 7 is the ramrod for loading, and slots 8 and 9 are the actual stock
arquebus ammunition: this is to simulate the use of manuel loaded powder and balls which have been around since the 14th century since gunpowder first became popularized for use in war
-FLINTLOCK HANDGUN
the flintlock handgun uses a breech loading flintlock mechanism for it's usage, the system it uses for firing was developed in 1610
flintlock handgun technical specifications:

flintlock handgun craft:
flintlock handgun ammunition craft:
flintlock handgun ammunition (for use in the flintlock handgun):
this yields 4 handgun cartridges
flintlock handgun repairing: simply repair it with iron ingots
flintlock handgun craft reasoning (use chart below):
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
slot 1 is barrel, slot 2 is the chamber and loading area (user lifts up a latched hatch and puts a cartridge in chamber), slot 3 is the hammer that ignites cartridge, slots 4,5 and six are frame and trigger system, slots 6 and 9 are the grip
flintlock handgun ammunition reasoning: these are to simulate the use of paper cartridges, which have been around since the late 14th century (see firearm timeline)
-BREECHER MUSKET
The breecher musket is a breech loaded musket, that uses a flintlock firing system
ammo: craft-able, (mid cost for multi and single) 4 ammo created from 1 ammo craft
ammo type: musket cartridges (paper cartridge)
range: 90 blocks
speed: 140m/s
max damage(unenchanted): 6 hearts
max damage (max enchanted): 15 hearts
charging time: 1.4 seconds
shot groupings (unenchanted) at 35 blocks (aiming at same spot each shot): 0-2.75 block groupings (same here, very unpredictable on how accurate your shot will be)
base durability: 385
value: mid
materials for craft: 7 iron ingots, 1 stick, 2 wood planks, and 1 flint and steel
max enchantments: power V, unbreaking III, punch II, incendiary II, endless reservoir I, rifling V
stackable: no
enchantability: 14
-breecher musket craft (requires 2 steps):
1. barrel
2. breecher musket (diamond sword is the barrel you crafted):
breecher musket ammunition craft:
this yields 4 musket cartridges
breecher musket repairing: simply repair it with iron ingots (repairs 64 durability points)
-IMPROVED MUSKET
The improved musket, is essentially the breecher musket, except it uses stronger materials to allow it to fire higher pressure cartridges.
ammo: craft-able, (mid cost for both multi and single) 4 ammo created from 1 ammo craft
ammo type: musket cartridges (paper cartridge)
range: 90 blocks
speed: 160m/s
max damage (unenchanted): 7 hearts
max damage (max enchanted): 17.5 hearts
charging time: 1.4 seconds
shot groupings (unenchanted) at 35 blocks (aiming at same spot each shot): 0-2.75 block groupings (as with all the firearms, minus the arquebus, without the rifling enchantment, it is very hard to tell where these are going to shoot)
base durability: 1562
value: mid-high
materials for craft: 4 diamonds, 1 stick, 2 wood planks, 1 flint and steel, and 3 iron ingots
max enchantments: power V, unbreaking III, punch II, inciendary II, endless reservoir I, rifling V
stackable: no
enchantability: 14
crafting recipe of the improved musket (requires 2 steps):
1. barrel craft:
2. improved musket (diamond sword is barrel you previously crafted):
improved musket ammunition:
this will yield 4 musket cartridges
improved musket repairing: simply repair it with diamonds
improved musket ammunition: this is to simulate the use of paper cartridges
-argument for the use of firearms in this idea:
first things first, these are not overpowered in any way, they all can only kill in one shot when properly enchanted, like the bow, also, if you make the argument the bow is enough. Please consider that your logic on this matter would eliminate alot variety in other aspects of the game (food, blocks, resources, tools, weapons, armor, redstone circuitry, mobs, dimensions, etc.)
-medevial (or middle ages) time period: 5th to 15th century
historical record of guns and minecarts (breech loaded firearms that use paper cartridges like the 3 depicted in my idea (not including the arquebus) were made in 1650 while self-powered minecarts were made somewhere around 1804 to 1811):
-9th century, gunpowder was invented in china
-sculptures depicting handcannons were discovered, dating back to 12th century
-The De'an Shoucheng Lu, an account of the siege of De'an in 1132, records that Song forces used fire-lances against the Jurchens
-oldest surviving gun dates back to 1288
-13th century; gunpowder makes way to europe
-siege guns were used by the English at Calais in 1346
-late 14th century, portable smoothbore personal cannons were made, small enough to be classified as a personal firearm
-late 14th century, paper cartridges were developed (not always used due to the fact they had to be assembled off the battlefield due to tedious work, and had to be rammed down barrel like doing the manuel loading)
-The Janissary corps of the Ottoman army adopted matchlock arms from Hungary gradually from the 1440s onwards
-The first dated illustration of a matchlock mechanism dates to 1475
-late 15th century, ottoman empire begins using firearms as part of it's regular infantry
-16th century, wood minecarts, and wood "rails" (beams cart rides on) began popping up in translyvania (used gravity and man-power)
-1520 german armourer develops rifling
-rifling perfected in mid 16th century
-1550 minecarts that ran on narrow gauge wooden tracks (3 foot wide track), and are operated by man-power and gravity, become common in europe
-1551 first steam turbine created by Taqi al-Din
-1586 paper cartridges were introduced on a global scale (not always used due to the fact they had to be assembled off the battlefield due to tedious work)
-Capo Bianco writes in 1597 that paper cartridges had long been in use by Neapolitan soldiers
-17th century, wooden wagonways on wooden rails begin popping up (for use in cities, not mines), none of which were self-propelled
-1610 flintlock firing mechanism introduced in france
-1650, breech loaded flintlocks developed (loaded on rear end, instead of pushed down by a rod from front or "muzzle")
-1698 first steam powered pump developed
-1704, Isaac de la Chaumette develops a much easier loading system for breech-loaded firearms (paper cartridge ones), system consisted of twisting a plug that then exposed chamber, and allowed user to load firearm with a new cartridge (system used by the breecher musket, improved musket, and flintlock handgun depicted in my idea)
-1752 Benjamin Franklin conducts famous key on a kite experiment
-1768, The first iron plate railway made with cast iron plates on top of wooden rails, was taken into use (kind used in minecraft, still no self propelled minecarts)
-1769 james watt steam engine was developed, was used for pumping water out of mines though, not power minecarts, still used rope systems, men, and animals for minecarts
-1770's breech-loading system was heavily improved and was much easier than the chaumette system
-1776 greatest country in the entire world gains independence from the most oppresive country at that time (joke, deal with it.jpeg)
-1780's steam engine sees widespread use for factories and machines, no minecart usage yet
-1784 William Murdoch, a Scottish inventor, built a prototype steam road locomotive (3 wheeled car basically) (not a self propelelled minecart yet)
-1804 first somewhat successful steam locomotive made and used, built by Richard Trevithick, but ended up breaking some of the brittle cast-iron plates during a small usage of it, not much usage afterwards
-In 1811, John Blenkinsop designed the first successful and practical railway locomotive (you could say this is when self propelled minecarts were made)
-1819, the M1819 Hall rifle was developed, the first mass produced and widespread breech-loaded musket
-1821 micheal faraday invents electric motor (you could say this is when basic redstone circuitry was developed)
-In 1825, George Stephenson built the Locomotion for the Stockton and Darlington Railway, the first public railway system (england was only one really using railways, at this time, and had 3 railways by this time in the entire country)
-1830 first intercity railway introduced
-1845, .22 BB introduced (first metallic cartridge)
-by early 1850's britain had about 7,000 miles of railway
-1857, .22 short introduced
-1860, the high-powered cartridge called the .44 henry was introduced, and was used in the lever action henry model 1860
-late 19th century a majority of the advances in electrical engineering take place (you could say this is when adavanced redstone circuitry was developed, I.E, redstone repeaters, lamps, computers, pistons, etc.)
here's the source for that http://en.wikipedia....tricity#History
-through 1850-1890 america saw a massive growth in railway usage, which at it's peak was responsible for 1/3 of world's total rail mileage
as you can see firearms were made almost 2 centuries before minecarts, and were heavily developed even before self-propelled minecarts came around, in other words, you'd would be a fool to say firearms have no place in minecraft while self-powered minecarts do. In addition advancements in electrical technology took place in the late 19th century. I'm not saying minecraft is based in 1870-1900, I'm just pointing out how there is now real way to tell the time frame of minecraft.
if you honestly read all of this, I thank you for taking the time, and you may criticize all you want, or tell how much you like it, if that's the case.

Unless they were like those old led ball firing, constantly backfiring, dangerous guns used in the revolutionary war and earlier.

That is why I did half-support. I support some, but not others, I was just too lazy to list them all out. In terms of guns, I think that a musket would be a good idea.
You do realize that a good amount of people do not think this, correct? Most agree that their shouldn't be modern guns in the game, but would be perfectly fine with a balanced musket or so.
http://www.minecraft...ranged-weapons/
Black powder weapons were not invented until the LATE middle ages, and they were primitive compared to our suggestions. I think you should stray away from the guns, cannons or bombs are possible though.

Additionally, this is a wishlist, which means this thread will be locked soon. Try suggesting a single ranged weapon. You don't have to make one up, pick one from the list and develop it fully.
Additionally, these are already suggested here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1124061-the-official-gun-thread/page__st__1440
You even posted there, this is confusing to me as to why you needed to make a new thread.

Minecarts have been around longer than that my friend.
here's the first minecart on rails (sorry about using facts to back up statements, it's just so much fun):

No, I'm saying you don't need to go and google a bunch of random Minecart facts to prove me wrong, Minecraft wasn't made for historical accuracy. Just because it has Iron minecarts doesn't mean it needs guns. It's like saying we have pigs, so we need dinosaurs, because they are both animals.
