Honestly, I think the ender dragon right now is a bit too slow, and barely attacks. It's only attack is to ram you, and it only deals five hearts of damage (five hearts isn't a lot, considering the fact that you'd probably be heavily armored by then and how slow the dragon moves.)
So, I thought I might give some ideas on how to make the ender dragon slightly harder but still beatable by one person.
The ender dragon should fire ender flames, these flames will deal on easy ( and hearts on normal and hard respectively) and will give a 3 seconds afterburn (4 and 5 seconds on normal and hard respectively.). These flames doesn't destroy blocks, and gives only a small amount of knockback. They travel at a straight line and are as fast as level 2 charged bow. The ender dragon fires every 25/20/15 seconds (E/N/H).
Note : You can reflect the flames the same way as you reflect ghast bawls. The difference is that, try aiming somewhere OTHER than the ender dragon, like a crystal. If the ender dragon got hit by his own flames, he will be healed by .
As the ender dragon's health decreases, he will gain armor points. At 75 hearts he will gain , at 50 he will gain , and at 25 he will gain .
You know those ender crystals? Well the more ender crystals exist in The End, the faster the Ender dragon's fly speed. Destroying these crystals will slow down the ender dragon's speed, though not too much. Let's say, after all crystals are gone, his speed is slowed down by 25%.
Of course, this is only a suggestion, also leave any other ideas on buffing him up, but at the same time keeping it balanced (not too powerful) by adding some cons. Otherwise, just for fun.
You do realize that there is another Enderdragon Buff suggestion literally under yours right?
(Well that was before I made a comment)
I am completely aware of that. I don't know why did I post this anyway, just for fun I guess.
Though the other one is completely overpowered and would be nintendo-hard to be put into Minecraft.
RE to your edits :
Well, of course the flames will be purple. It looks more chaotic and fits the ender dragon.
I don't know about the model, well, I don't know what to say actually.
Well, it has probably been suggested before to Buff the Ender Dragon (Or otherwise just make the battle more interesting), but this is a fairly-well developed thread.
One more thing, they really need to focus on new AI for flying mobs (Not "hovering" mobs like blaze and ghast). I am sorta p*ssed when they released 1.0.0 however long ago it was. They didn't have time to code the ender dragon to avoid obstacles, so they made it to where he just passes through terrain while destroying all non-end related blocks. And to top it all off, Notch(?) even came up with a story as to why the dragon destroys blocks.

Good job though, and support for all of this.
EDIT: The other suggestion is not nearly as good. He made it seem like a story, rather than a change to the Dragon. here is the link http://www.minecraft...rdragon-revamp/
Thanks man, and yeah, I was kind of surprised when I battled the ender dragon for the first time. He goes through pretty much everything. Kinda annoying sometimes, but yeah.
That suggestion (the link) makes it a sudden change rather than a gradual change. Think of it as this ; you got your villagers everywhere, skellies, zombies and stuff, but when you enter the end, you suddenly hear this voice. Now that doesn't flow well with the game's elements. Also by allowing the ender dragon to call for minions is kind of unfair, considering that we're only one person battling a whole dragon.
So yeah, might need to rewrite some stuff above first, though.

And plus, I am sure the Enderdragon has no armor stat for a reason. (Last time I checked, he did not) Probably because of the model?
Oh and let us be original. How about make the flames purple to go with the End theme?
Oh and by the way...
