So I was playing Minecraft a while back and was thinking what would be cool to see. I thought of a vulcanic biome. It would be a biome where plants couldn't grow, including grass. It would have ores more common in it, and even some ores, like gold, close to the surface. There would be dead trees that could be 'mined' for charcoal. Lava would be a major presence. It would not be everywhere, but it would be enough that traveling and mining would be a bit more dangerous. It could also have a generated structure in it. I was thinking it could be caslte ruins. I don't know what it would be about, but it would be cool. Basically, my idea was for a biome that is a vulcanic hot spot. I would be a little risky going into, but the rewards could be increadible.
It's only a rough idea I had. It's not perfect. I'd like to know what you all think about it.

Great post, but missing some details. The atmosphere on planet Vulcan is different than Earth and makes it difficult to hear unless you have hob-goblin ears, so it would be a good challenge if mobs were silent in that biome.
This has already been suggested many times. Also, they say you are referencing Star Trek (and ancient roman religions, nice one by the way, never thought someone would remember Vulcan) because you are saying vulcanoes instead of volcanoes.
My bad.

Have I seen this before? Volcanoes would be a bad addition to minecraft. Also, I believe there could just be a mountain shaped hill with a crater at the top.

Do you like red panda's? They are so cute! Message me if you like the Red Panda!
Well, I hate volcanoes and I never want to see one in Minecraft. I even think it was a bad idea for Tekkit to put in volcanoes. Still no support.
I think the big problem with the volcanoes in tekkit is simply that the redpower mod (which is where the feature comes from) just kind of drops them wherever. So they end up being rather hideous. I personally wouldn't mind some volcanoes. So long as the became a feature that was fully integrated into the world gen. Maybe not a full biome unto themselves, but having them show up on occasion, maybe in the ocean or in the extreme hills biome every once in a while wouldn't be so bad.

Humanity is the creation of Logic and Emotion, Calculation and Imagination, Cold Analysis and Blind Faith. This is why I believe it is a strange Human that would prize one while shunning the other. For a calculator can do math just as well as you, but a calculator can not use math to make the world a better place.

This is no reference to Star Trek what so ever.
Ancient Roman religion then?

The Brazilian heavy metal band or the island near Sicily?
What lava mess? It looks pretty clean to me, but I don't want Minecraft to turn into a reference game.
My bad.
I guess because I was thinking of active lava flows. Everything burns up, but having it be really fertile would be interesting.
So would I as long as they're not everywhere like jungles are. Just a rare volcano with lava spewing out would be really cool.
