Right now there are 13 different potions that can be obtained in Minecraft survival mode, but there are actually a total of 27 potion effects in the game. Although some of these can be obtained in other ways it would be nice to see them as obtainable potions. Adding in these potions wouldn't just simply expand upon potions but other parts of the game as well. That's one of the reasons why potions are so great. New methods of obtaining potion ingredients helps expand other aspects of the game. Exploration, hunting, farming, fishing, trading, anything you can think of really.
Rather than suggesting specific ways to obtain a potion's ingredients like how the suggestion previously did. I'm going to name a few potential options for each effect as what specifically makes it is up to Mojang in the end. Here we go.
Haste: This effect increases mining and attack speed. It is currently only obtained through beacons which isn't all to useful. Due to its effects it would make the most sense if the ingredient was obtained from mining in some way. Probably by combining an existing underground material with a food item.
Mining Fatigue (Dullness): This is the opposite of the haste effect so it would make the most sense if it was obtained by using a fermented spider eye on a haste potion.
Nausea: This effect causes the screen to wobble. It is currently only obtained by eating pufferfish. An idea I had would be if the ingredient was sold by a new priest villager (Alchemist?). Due to the strength of the potion this ingredient would be very expensive.
Resistance: This effect increases defense. It is currently only obtained through super golden apples and beacons. Since it raises defense, perhaps a new ore could be made specifically for this ingredient. It would be rare since resistance is very strong.
Blindness: This lowers a player's view distance. It can currently only be obtained through commands. Be cause of it's strength against players, it would simply be obtained through corrupting a nausea potion (another potion that is strong against players).
Hunger: This effect causes the player's hunger to go down faster. It is obtained by eating various rotten/poison foods and by getting hit by husks. Since husks give the effect I thought it would make sense if the ingredient would have a chance to be dropped by them.
Wither: It's like poison but it can kill. Because of this it would not have an ingredient but could be found in the chests found within Nether Forts.
Health Boost: Increases max health. Currently only obtainable with commands. It could be dropped by a new monster in either the Nether or overworld.
Absorption: Instantly gives temporary hit points. Only gained through golden apples and totems of undying. To get the potion one could corrupt a health boost potion.
Saturation: Slightly fills the hunger bar by one point. Only obtained through commands. Perhaps the ingredient could be a rare drop from pig.
Glowing: Highlights mobs. Given to mobs/players that are hit by spectral arrows. Perhaps the ingredient could be dropped by witches.
Levitation: Causes mobs to slowly rise over time. Only given to mobs hit by the shulker's spark projectile. Considering the fact that shulkers now have a drop perhaps it could be involved in the making of levitation potions.
Luck: Increases chances to fish up treasure. It's currently available in the creative inventory. The only right ingredient for this would by four leaf clovers.
Bad Luck: Deacreases chance to fish up treasure. Only obtained through commands. Corrupting a luck potion with a fermented spider eye sounds like a good method of obtaining this potion.

Dude!!! Best idea ever!!! As a confident brewer I love this! Add a pole! Ask people which ones they think should exist! Only one question, what exactly does the potion of dullness do? I assume it is the oposite of haste, but I wasn't sure. EDIT: I also assume since you said you were "saving this post now" you are adding onto it.

Yeah, I just completed the rest of the post. But I don't know what could be used for blindness potions. Oh, and dullness is the opposite of haste, making you break blocks slower.

Thought so! You should also add a pole. Your post is extremely well done! But adding a pole always makes people click on your posts, I don't know why...and I'll think about how to make a blindness potion, K? EDIT: maybe you don't really need anything other than an ink sac? I feel like you're on the right track.
Yes! Mojang would add original sprites and textures, so yeah. The blind potion would be so cool for PvP, as you could just throw one like a smoke bomb. The only thing I don't like is the corn, kinda meh. Why not instead of the rubies, you could use iron ore or emeralds. FULL SUPPORT

The problem with just an inc sac is the blindness potion's power. Such a common item for such a powerful potion? That just doesn't make sense. There must be more, but what?
Full support (Except for the potion of haste because I can't say I care for the mob idea all too much.)
Rubies/sponges should definitely get added and that would be a great use for them.
And in my opinion, blindness and decay should be added, but have no brewing recipe. They'd be too OP in my opinion.
What do you mean by have no brewing recipe? There's no point in having a potion availabe to creative mode if you can't get it in survival without cheating, because then it takes away usefulness to it.
1. Potion of Decay should be attainable. It should deal somewhat more damage than a Potion of Harming of the same tier, but do it over time.
2. Potion of Blindness should be attained through the corruption of the Potion of Night Vision. Invisibility can be brewed some other way. It's overpowered anyway.
3. There are some materials that need some love that don't have any Alchemical use. Why not use some of them instead of new mobs?

Incorrect. Poison does much more damage than Harming, but it limits itself. I described Decay as somewhat more powerful than Harming (not too much), but over time (I never said it limited itself like poison did).
I like a lot of these, although I am uncomfortable with a select few.
I do have an idea for two more potions if you'd take the care to listen as well.
Potion of Flight: Created with the help of "Wing of Bat" dropped by bats of course to give them a use.
Potion of Falling: Potion of Flight with a fermented spider eye. Would deal falling damage over designated time period.
Otherwise your ideas are good. I support it. PIGGY!!!

Um, this is for the missing potions, not for nonexistent ones.
Thanks for the support anyways. WAS A PIGGY!!!
I love this idea so much! Its like you aimed-botted a swarm of birds, then hacked in a bomerang that traces targets to kill all these birds with one stone! New potions: Bam! Done! New underwater content: Bam, started. New Nether content: Bam, started. Sponges in game? Bam, done! Its really good, like, Awesome!
Invisibility should be brewed with glowstone blocks. Why? Because invisibility in science fiction is just light being generated to mask something - glowstone could be that light.
Technically, an object would have to be darker than all of it's surroundings for that sort of thing.
Bah, who cares about technicalities?
The real problem with that idea is that Glowstone Blocks aren't actually difficult to attain.
For any other potion, that might not be a problem, but for invisibility it doesn't work out.

As we all know there are a few potions in the game that are missing and are not in the vanilla game. However, there is a problem, how to implement the potions while adding good content to obtain the ingredients. Well I have a few ideas that I tried my best to improve the overall experience of the game, including farming, mining, exploring, and even fighting. Lets start with the Potion of Water Breathing
Potion of Water Breathing
To find the ingredient for water breathing potions, you will need to go find an ocean. That's right, a reason to go to the ocean. At the ocean, there will sometimes be large clumps of sponge. A great way to find and obtain sponge is by using a respiration helmet and night vision potions.
Sponges drop 2-4 sponge bits. Four sponge bits can be made into a sponge block, which can be placed or can be crafted back into four sponge bits.
Sponge bits can be used to make water breathing potions.
Sponges being added + a way to get water breathing? YES!
Potion of Resistance
This potion is very powerful and isn't easy to get. The biggest reason is the fact that you must mine for a very rare material. This new material is what we know as rubies. Ruby ore in in every biome and it generates in a way similarly to emerald. However, it is spread out even more but comes in larger veins than emeralds do.
It is one of the things you will need for resistance potions. But you will also need another thing, which is a new (hopefully the last) crop. This crop will be corn. Corn grows in a way similar to how sugar cane does. Except it must be planted on tilled soil in order to grow. To obtain corn, you must search for wild corn in in the plains biome, and it's not too common. Please try to ignore the gamemode changed message. After breaking the corn, you can take the corn cobs and place them in tilled soil to start growing more corn. Corn will also now be used to feed cows instead of wheat. Corn also grows much slower than sugar, so you must be patient when growing it.
Once you have steady supply of corn and some rubies, you can combine them to make bejeweled corn, which can be used to brew the powerful resistance potions.
New ore, new crop, and a new potion? YES!
Potion of Leaping
This is a much easier potion to get. But you will need to be swift and persistent to obtain its ingredient. There will be a new mob in the game, this new mob is passive as it is a rabbit. Here is a picture of the mo' creatures rabbit, just in case you don't know what a rabbit is. This is not my image, I just borrowed it.
Rabbits only appear in forest biomes, and the will sprint away from the player if the player gets too close. They move just barely slower than the player's sprinting speed. They will slow down after 10-20 seconds of intense chasing. But you can speed up the killing process with speed potions. Once killed, the rabbit will drop a rabbit foot, which can be used for making jump boost potions.
Yay, rabbits!
Potion of Nausea
This one is simple, you can now use poisonous potatoes to brew nausea potions. Oh, and fixed the glitch when the nether portal effect occurs after the nausea is cured. Unless that is a feature.
A use for the poisonous potato is good.
Potion of Haste
This one you will have to fight to get this one. And it comes from a new monster of the Nether. This new monster will be some kind a worm thing. I'll just borrow this image from the better Nether topic for a concept image. This is not my image, I just borrowed it.
Now, the problem with a worm in minecraft is, how will the segments move. Well I was thinking it could move in a way similarly to how the eggs in Yoshi's island follow you, by mimicking every move the head makes. The head and segments will change orientation by facing the direction they are moving. They are fast and can "swim" through soft blocks such as gravel and soulsand. They aren't to common but spawn everywhere in the Nether. They have 20 health like most mobs and drop worm teeth. Which are used for the haste potions.
Good, I like it.
Potion of Dullness
Simple, just add a fermented spider eye to a haste potion.
All though it wouldn't really have a use in SSP, support.
Potion of Hunger
This one takes existing items and gives them more uses. In this case, bowls, rotten flesh, and red mushrooms. Using this gives you slop/ nasty stuff/ toxic soup.
This gross stuff is used to make hunger potions.
Toxic soup can also be put into caldrons. One bowl fills it by a third.
Yes!
Potion of Blindness
I don't know, something involving inc sacs but I got nothing so far...
Potion of Decay
No, the wither effect is for the wither and wither skeletons. Such a powerful effect should not belong to players. But this is ultimately up to the developers I guess.
Many of the sprite I used are either old vanilla textures, unused textures, modified textures, and textures from the painterly pack. The mob concept images are slightly modified pictures from other sources around the forums. I gained no money from this. Derp.
