My idea for minecraft is if you put a piece of TNT and a flint and steel in a dispenser the dispenser will throw out a primed TNT making an easy TNT Cannon. Hope this makes it in.

Unless your dispensing it from a high height or you make the trajectory of the TNT fired much greater than standard items, you'll just end up destroying the dispenser.
Also, it makes no sense that you would put a flint/steel in with the TNT and the dispenser would automatically start firing TNT. If that were the case, what happens when the flint and steel is shot out? How would the flint and steel loose durability?
Finally, this item will be primarily abused by greifers to provide potentially long range block destruction (assuming the first point mentioned above is resolved by making TNT fly out like an arrow). Firecharges are at least difficult to make and only set things on fire, but this would be catastrophic. And don't make the old argument that "Pickaxes can be used to grief, therefore we should remove pickaxes". Unless you can hurl your pickaxe 50 meters and destroy half a house with a single launch, they aren't equivalent.
No Support. Primary use is a greifer's tool, and while greifing is a natural part of many Minecraft servers and there are ways for servers to prevent griefing on a individual level, there is no reason to arm them with weapons of mass destruction when those weapons have no other use than to grief. This suggestion is better suited as a mod rather than an intrinsic part of Minecraft due to the abuse it would receive.

I'm aware of the existence of TNT cannons via timed detonations and water physics. The key distinction I draw here is the amount of materials, time, and obfuscation (it would be hard to hide this device, reposition it, or clean up after your done), is much greater than plopping down a dispenser, a lever, loading it, firing, and cleaning up.

Fair enough. I also have yet to meet a griefer knowledgeable enough to know how to build a TNT cannon, whereas a dispenser isn't at all complicated.

Exactly. Cave people can't build atom bombs so we needn't worry about nuclear attack. They are very adept at hitting an active A-Bomb on the nose cone with rocks though, so we shouldn't be putting them within arms reach.

If the first point you brought up about the trajectory isn't resolved by making it shoot TNT like an arrow, it would be relatively simple to use this to set up a TNT cannon that could be fired multiple times before reloading. It would be as easy as using the dispensers to drop TNT at the right time like a normal cannon.

Shooting TNT like an arrow only resolves the problem of having TNT blow up the dispenser and everything with it. I don't want TNT to be shot like a cannon from a dispenser. I was merely point out that your damned if you do, damned if you don't. Shoot TNT like an item it blows up the dispenser (your better off just igniting it with a redstone fuse), Shoot it like an arrow and it becomes a griefing tool. You can't win from either standpoint.
I think I'm done here, I have nothing further to discuss.

I don't think you understood what I was trying to say. Assuming dispensers would drop primed TNT straight down from in front of them, If you then set a few up so that they dropped the TNT into water, then dropped a final TNT before the first set detonated, that would be a TNT cannon that didn't have to be reloaded after one use.
This could even make it possible to have any redstone contraption that uses TNT for some reason to not have to be reset after a single go, assuming you didn't blow the whole thing up.

I did misunderstand. I apologize. That is a valid point.
Dispenser shouldn't be able to place TNT unlit either, because that can still be used to do the process you described.

Also, hasn't this been suggested already?

On the other hand, still no support.
