I propose that a new type of furnace, the "Blast Furnace" become craftable in Minecraft. This new furnace would have 4 input slots for items, and 4 slots for those items to be taken out (basically 4x a normal furnace) and it would have 4x input slots for fuel. It would also occupy one block, same as a regular furnace.
The crafting recipe would be a furnace surrounded by iron ingots.
Basically, this furnace cooks 4 stacks of items at once in the same furnace, using a regular amount of fuel. Each stack is cooked at the same time.
IDEA 2:
Each blast furnace has two inputs for items, two outputs for cooked items, and one slot for fuel. It now cooks both items with one stack of fuel. Basically it is 2x fuel efficient and 2x time efficient.
IDEA 3:
There are 4 raw item inputs, 4 cooked outputs and one fuel input. The fuel cooks all 4 stacks at the same rate it would cook a normal one. 4x as fuel efficient as usual + 4x as time efficient. There is a rare, rare very rare chance that the blast furnace will explode with the same force as TNT. It will not destroy your items/fuel, everything will just spill everywhere.
It would probably have a furnace texture except with some small changes.
It's kind of OP really, it's too cheap and it's way too efficient.
But it's cheap in a good way. Removes pointless farming for coal/charcoal, which can be annoying sometimes, and just generally speeds up the flow of the game. Less time waiting for furnaces is more time killing mobs.
Make it having 9% chance of exploding, then it will not be so OP then. Risky things, Risky life: Minecraft. People will make furnace rooms made of obsidian just for that!

It shouldn't be too op. There should be two blast furnaces. 1 has 2 slots the other has 4. Too balance it it should have a chance to explode, like Luckyzin said or it should have a temperature bar so you cant over use it. If it gets too hot either you cant use it for a for some time like 10 minutes, it just dies or it explodes.
Maybe lava should be in the crafting recipe, so that if it did explode, you would be flooded with lava? Even more risk!
I think that would be a bit OP as then your items would definetly be destroyed. When it explodes it wil probably take out other blast furnaces unless you case it in obsidian. Lava is a bit to OP imo.

It's not overpowered, it balances out the supposed OP'ness of the Furnace by providing a very real danger that requires extensive cleanup, which will make you think twice about it.
Regardless, a blast furnace is a good idea, but there are many things to be thought about, such as the fuel source (still gonna be coal?) how many items it can burn etc etc. If it can be balanced it would be a good idea.

just a quick idea here to improve furnaces!

Let me know what you guys think!

A better version of this would be if the furnace only smelted one stack at a time, essentially acting as a queue for the other three.

Updated first post semi-incorporating your thing.
Do you like idea 2?
Not seeing where you incorporated or even acknowledged my idea in the first post.

I implemented your idea!
*cough cough* red power 2 *cough cough*
Otherwise, pretty good idea. As long as you thought of it yourself.
Can you explain what is red power 2? And yes i did think of this myself. Which one of the three ideas are you referring to?
Thanks!

Right now though, you can dig up a little bit of stone and make a huge grid of furnaces. This is sort of a redundant idea really.

What if the only fuel source available was lava?
meh... i can just use 4 or more furnaces instead.
