Oak is a kind of tree.
Spruce is a kind of tree.
Birch is a kind of tree.
Jungle... is not. We need a better name for "jungle wood". We also need a better color for it, because it's currently pink.
Meanwhile, those of us who need black construction material have been getting screwed for a very long time. Obsidian and black wool are painful to collect and cannot currently be crafted into stairs or slabs (something I've been complaining about since FOREVER), and Spruce is only a little bit darker than regular wood. Man, it sure would be awesome if wood came in a plain old BLACK variety, don't you think?
Well, as it turns out, there's a solution to both problems. You see, there's this wood called ebony, which is black AND found exclusively in jungles and other tropical areas.
I think it might be too late to change all of jungle wood to something else. But the thing about the jungle is it's supposed to be the second-most biodiverse habitat on the planet. Right after coral reefs. (Where are coral reefs, btw) So there really ought to be tons of different kinds of wood in the jungle.
Also, why have they done so much work on different colours for wood, but nothing mechanically. There should be a differece between hardwood and softwood.

I think you are going to love my Survival Let's Play series on YouTube! It's called Spaceboot1's Garden. I make pretty things.

Oh, HELL YES! As it just so happens, real-world ebony is notable not just for its black color, but also for being extremely dense and hard. In-game ebony should have a durability better than that of other woods, but still not quite as good as stone.
No. This seems completely pointless. It has a fine colour, and if it grows in the jungle, it could be called a jungle tree. Having BLACK wood will look ugly.

I hate people who complain. I hate spiders. I hate people who own an Xbox One. I hate people who like sandbox games. I hate people who like first person shooters. I hate people who like explosions. I hate people who like video games. I hate people who are hateful. I hate people that don't like spam. I hate people who like cake. I hate people who type in proper grammar and spell words properly on the internet. I hate hypocrites.
I honestly like the red (It's not pink, it's lightish red!) color of the jungle tree.
It also creates some unique coloring for pixel art. And jungle wood is already used for cocoa breans.
We don't want this to happen:
Jeb: DINNERBONE! HOLY ****! WE FORGOT THAT THE JUNGLE TREE SPECIES IS NOT SUPPOSED TO GROW COCOA IN REAL LIFE!!!!
Dinnerbone: HOLY POOP. LET'S GO CHANGE IT TO EBONY!!!
Jeb: BUT EBONY DOSN'T GROW COCOA EITHER!!!
Dinnerbone: OH GOD NO!!!! IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!

I feel I should clarify myself. I would be all for an ebony tree and the new wood it would provide. I just disagree with TC's reasoning and method.
A better solution would be to simply add ebony trees to jungles, while also keeping the current jungle trees. And if that name is too much of a problem for some reason, then they can be called "cocoa trees". (But then I'm sure there would be people who say "but cocoa trees don't grow as big as the giant jungle treeees" and a whole other can of worms would be opened.)

I saw a comment that the jungle trees look painted: Why CAN'T we paint wood? We can dye leather armor now, which has basically no apparent purpose, but we can't paint wood? WHY?! I mean, maybe not nearly as many colors as the leather armor, but can we at least get the wool colors?
Any, I have no problem with Mojang implementing more tree types. But it would be unwise to remove/replace some.

Makes sense, yes?

Okay, but can Jungle Wood at least be renamed after a real kind of tree?

Then theirs a big problem, does ebony grow cocoa?

I have to agree with the fact that it should be a new stuff instead of replacing something (if it were to be added).
Also agreed.
No.
Why are there six pedals if there are only four directions?
I'm surprised that it took 25 posts for someone to point this out.
Good suggestion.

Sometimes, you just need a little more cave.
I believe you're thinking of ivory.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivory
The white keys of old pianos were made from ivory, which is elephant tusks. The black keys were made from ebony, which is a kind of tree.
