I was thinking of commonly used mistakes on the suggestions section and one thing I noticed about some (if not all) bad mob suggestions are usually just taking a mob in the game (or sometimes Herobrine) and adding a prefix before the word. (e.g Frost + Zombie = Frost Zombie) and then changing (or adding/removing) a few aspects little by little then re-branding it as a new mob. ("A Frost zombie would be like a normal zombie except it's attacks will slow the playerr, cool right!1!?")
Just a thought.
Actually, having frost related monsters for snow biomes seems cool, and adds a new little aspect.
Bad suggestion:
I think we should add sandwiches to minecraft. You make a sandwich table, put to bread in as buns, and the ingridients, and you can craft one. Maybe we should add a McDonalds to the end, and while you fight the dragon the endermans will go there to eat the new sandwiches. When you kill the endermen, they sohuld drop burgers. In the end, the fast food place will be all 4 blocks high for the endermen. This would be totally super uber cool!!l!!!ol!1!@!!!
If you want a response, quote me.
I have too slow an internet connection to be a lurk. If I wate time opening the page, I might as well reply.
Yes. Yes I do.

That wouldn't change a damn thing. It's not gonna stop lazy new members from going "Well, I'm just confident my idea is original and will automatically assume that. So I'll make a thread anyway!"
Well, I think it helps anyway. You know, people are more likely to do something when they will get something.

I don't see the potential difference by changing the title to "tips on making a good suggestion". Even if the thread title is changed to "Free $5 when reading this thread!", it won't stop new guys from making that thirst bar thread because some will just ignore stickies anyway.

Hey, you there. Yes, you! Are you thinking about posting a suggestion on the forums anytime soon? If so, please read this before doing so.
It isn't, it's redundant and unoriginal. Besides that it has no purpose, difficulty? I'm sure there are other ways to add more difficulty.
Who cares if it's unoriginal? Are zombies original? Are giant spiders original?

It's one of those, how shall I say... Difficult metrics?
Often, horribly unoriginal ideas are also horribly lame. While there is no indicative trend plotting originality and suggestion quality; they're seen in conjunction enough that it becomes a knee jerk response. (Don't blame the critic, blame the machine).
What I'd LIKE to see as an alternative is to not measure a suggestion quality based off of "originality" or "realism", but to base it off of "Does it fit."
I'm going to lay it down right now. The ONLY reason why Minecraft became popular is because it's an alternative web browser game that competes (even now) with Runescape. The fact that you can play the game, only downloading the files necessary, and the cookies to run means you can play the game in your web browser without the repercussions of having a link on your desktop. This allows people in school or on the fly to easily play.
While MC does make a lot of strides to be an otherwise entertaining platform, people often praise it with bombastic and horrifyingly inaccurate aggrandizement simply because they're a fan of the game. (I do it too (looking at Rune Factory 4 which is going to set off the latent aneurysm building in my brain when it releases)).
With this said. Is Minecraft unique? By the VERY INCEPTION, no it is not. It is made from a cobbled combination of ideals from Dwarf Fortress and Infiniminer(sp?). Does it attempt to be unique through a lot of it's gameplay offerings... Again, a miss. Don't confuse "fun" for "unique" the game is fun for different audiences for different reasons; but it's not really unique. The game DOESN'T want to be unique, the game wants to be a survival sandbox; the PLAYER makes it unique. Attribution otherwise is just blind fanaticism.
Is the game realistic, For the love of NOTCH, no. The game attempts to be fun given the universe it is in. It attempts to be a survival sandbox with a focus on unrealistic yet intuitive crafting, explosive shrubbery, and spider riding skeletons. Is the game fun? Again, yes.
With the above, I'd like to see a steer away from "not realistic" and "not unique" and a steer toward "does it fit in this universe? Can I imagine this placed in the setting without seeming out of place? Is there a method I can use to make this fit in place? Is the only thing stopping me from liking this concept the skin used? Etc."
If only every noob read this before making their first !DIAM!!ONDS UNI!!CORNS END!!LESS TNT!! suggestion.
Sadly, they somehow always miss that "Please read THIS before making a suggestion." lava-bucket thread.
And good work adding that new information on presentation, like titles, fonts, and such. Maybe if by some miracle a new poster does see this that person will know not to spam their ideas with Notch heads.

"You tried mercenary work? It might suit you."
"On a scale of one mile to Lord of the Rings, how far did you walk today?"
No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
"It can be ignored!"
Almost the exact same thing as "It can be optional!". Sure, a feature can be ignored, but why would Mojang add a feature if nobody is going to use your crappy feature in the first place? Also, what about multiplayer, where all features are accessible by any players if they want to? Let's say Mojang suddenly, by some magic spell or something, became idiots and decided to add airstrikes to Minecraft. Sure, YOU can ignore the airstrike feature, but what about the kid who thinks blowing up everything in sight makes them epic, including your poor house, redstone contraption, castle, etc?
Did you even read the post I quoted? I wasn't actually saying that, and anyone who does is probably the most in need of this thread.
