Jungle biomes have HUGE trees, So i'm thinking huge trees will be implemented in the forest biome sooner or later
Based on the picture Jeb sent out, the jungle trees appear to reach about 10-20 blocks in height and 1 wide. With redwoods we're talking about immense trees, at least 4x4 in width and reaching over 40 blocks in height, or more.
//i.imgur.com/2jCCY.jpg" width="" height="" alt="" />" width="" height="" alt="" />Alright, well here's the new type of foliage, and i've also added something new: the douglas fir. It's the small at the far right. They could provide our nice little redwoods company, but i don't know if they'll stay.
I'm probably not the first, but I just had the idea of having sequoia trees (Sequoiadendron Giganteum, Sequoia Sempervirens) be able to spawn/grow in Minecraft. They would spawn only in coniferous forests (obviously) and in taiga biomes, making them slightly rarer, as these are absolutely huge trees. Their saplings would have an extremely rare chance of dropping when the tree is cut down (which would be time consuming on its own, adding to the rarity and value of these). I recently made some in one of my SSP worlds, here is a screenshot: Tell me what you think about the picture and my idea, see you guys later!
Edit:INFO ON PICTURE: The tree on the left is the Sequoia Sempervirens, or coast redwood. the tallest tree in the real world is a coast redwood reaching 115 meters. Their foliage has the general shape of a cone, like regular pine trees/firs, etc. but MUCH larger. The one on the right is Sequoiadendron Giganteum, or giant sequoia. They have a much larger and wider trunk diameter than the Sempervirens, but are not as tall. Foliage is more dispersed throughout the tree and does not form a cone shape at the top.Yes the left one in the picture should be taller than the right if you follow the facts, but you get the idea.
Sadly, notch already made a sad excuse for the redwood tree (the skinny trees with barely any leaves at top. I would love seqoias. Redwoods would be kinda lame cause they're pretty thin for their height. Seqouias, on the other hand, are super thick as well as tall. I vote seqoia bbut not redwood.

I doubt those are supposed to be redwoods, but i do agree with you. Giant sequoias don't actually grow very tall (e.g General Sherman tree) but some redwoods, on the other hand, even with their height can grow pretty thick (e.g Del Norte Titan, Lost Monarch, etc.) so i think redwoods are a reasonable choice, because with their width sequoias would virtually be massive sawmills, as for redwoods they would be a little more balanced.
my gawd those are massive trees. Maybe if they were *slightly* smaller, but i still like it.
They could be a little smaller, but as small as they already are compared to real life redwoods (50 metres minecraft-115 metres real life) i doubt we could reduce them further, lol
I'm kinda against having a seperate biome for them...That would be creeper heaven...really, mobs would spawn about everywhere because of the dark.
i usually burn forests down anyway so I dont think id use them but its pretty cool idea. Maybe, at the top of the tree is a special log that is somehow special (idk)

Thanks! but considering their height and the fact that these biomes wouldn't be 100% redwoods, the lighting would be quite close to normal. But if they were in a taiga biome, it would be the same thing. If it's the fog you're talking about, well it wouldn't make it any darker, just a light cloud of mist in the forest. And also since they don't react very well to snow and very cold climates, a separate biome would be a little more factual/realistic.

Sure xobo, i'll see what i can do. btw thanks for the support!
Maybe, I guess it would be a little hard to code though.
Support.

True survival server, and fun!
