Poll is up now!!! Simple question "Should rotten flesh be implemented into Minecraft?"
Ever since 1.8 we have collected rotten flesh from zombies instead of feathers, because of this some of us are left with a load of rotten flesh. Now there have been suggestions regarding rotten flesh before and some of them are a little more ridiculous than others.
This is a simple idea that involves 9 rotten flesh to create something useful for certain situations. May I present to you the rotten flesh block.
The rotten flesh block can be placed like a regular block and has the exact same properties as a stone block (excluding the recollection via a pick).
It can be recollected by punching it. It takes 1 second to destroy.
When being chased by hostile mobs placing down a rotten flesh block will provide as a decoy for the enemies for a certain amount of time. In that space of time you can easily space yourself from the enemy mobs.
The decoy has 10 hearts worth of health before the block is destroyed.
It will only attract mobs within a 10 block radius. If the player attempts to attack one of the mobs when it is distracted then it will resume it's attack on the player.
It will attract different mobs in different ways:
- It will attract wolves.
- Creepers will not explode but instead be attracted by the block unless they already have their eyes set on the player.
- Endermen can pick the block up as if it were a normal block but they will attract other hostile mobs which will attack the enderman.
- Skeletons will not be effected by the block.
- No effect on Ghasts or Blaze as they can fly.
- Especially effective with zombies, zombie pigmen, venomous spiders and normal spiders.
Remember that rotten flesh is yet to benefit the player unless in dire situations when food is scarce. And if you have been through a mineshaft on hard you would appreciate a 5 second gap between venomous spiders attacking you.
The point of this block is to attract monsters away from you, not create more.
Yes, I understand that lol. I'm saying that my idea is a different approach entirely. What are these forums for, if not for the bouncing of thoughts and ideas?

With no disrespect but this thread is for the rotten flesh block, if you have other suggestions make a thread of your own. It is an okay idea you have there but I doubt it would benefit the player much.

I find your point un-true. I love rotten flesh, its a very efficient wolf healer.

Yes but only to those who have wolves. I left the idea of taming wolves alone a long time ago, besides if you are as efficient a mob killer as me then you will still have plenty of rotten flesh left over.
Regardless that only makes two uses for rotten flesh, the first one leading to food poisoning and the second only counted if one has bothered taming a wolf.
EDIT: Note - I said BENEFICIAL TO THE PLAYER, not the wolf.

I do not find wolves useful as they have bad A.I and have trouble keeping up when going deep into the mines.
Also, my town is currently set in a ravine which requires delicate stepping to get down and up, the wolves always seem to fall down a die (purposely made the design to get a random creeper or skeleton to fall and drop goodies).

Just because you don't like the feature doesn't mean every thing has to have a use besides for you don't like.
If some one doesn't like cutting trees should axes get another use?

It is not because I do not like it, if I did not like it I would have created a mod for it and merely kept it for myself. No, it is another option that allows players to benefit themselves from the item instead of just their wolves. And for your example, you were suggesting that I was going to make a massive change to game play as the axe is currently one of the four main tools used in game and would probably overpower it if given another use (hamaxe from terreria... *shivers*).

The wolves can't benefit there computers. P_P If you choose to heal it makes it so they can help you in battle. I see that as a benefit for you.

You are defending the single use for an item under of the basis that YOU don't need it and would prefer to use YOUR rotten flesh to heal YOUR wolves.
Remember that other players may see this as an item that they will use for traps or methods of redirecting enemies in the future.
Now sir, I do not wish to hold up this thread with argument over personal usage, this is my suggestion and your original comment was "Meh, why not" so I will keep it as such.

What the heck are you talking about I never even said I didn't like the idea. Your the one that started it by saying rotten flesh doesn't have a good use. I've been merely defending the use that it has.

I had thought about another approach to a use for it, though. Consider the following:
wheat + animals = animal love + babies
rotten flesh + monsters = monster love + monster babies!!!
I would love to squash some baby creepers

Also, i dont have wolves either :s
Thanks. Yeah that's what I meant, flesh is easy to obtain so we need some more uses.
