I can live with the rocks being invincible and full of diamonds, but creepers? Instead of creepers, why not spawn some overpowered alien mobs? Perhaps they could be as strong as a skeleton on hard mode on easy and a one hit kill on hard and have 30 hearts worth of health.
what about a old grumpy space alien that will try to attack you with a stick?
of corse but i don't think that comits should have diamonds since theres no way for diamound to form in space. but maybe a diffrent ore?
1) Who cares? It's a game.
2) Minecraft clearly isn't on Earth and it's arguable it's even in the same universe. Who's to say what can happen in space there?
3) Why add a new ore? What use could a new ore have, except some goofy new tool tier with silly effects? Toss in a rare ore we already have available. Simplify.
And aliens...No. Seriously? Creepers are fine. Aliens...That's original!

1.people who care about realism.
2.minecraft may not be on earth but is based of earth.
3.adding a new ore to something that can't be found in the overworld normaly would be more fun than just adding one of the same ores that can be found in the overworld.

This... just isn't necessary. I would like the idea of having stars and constellations that are unique to the world (and possibly you could create constellations, kinda like Animal Crossing).
But for the most part this idea is just utterly useless.

It's at this point a purely aesthetic change. I personally don't mind it (save the ores and such).
I would make it tie into the "Skyland" thing Notch had mentioned, here.
Without light pollution, minecraft would really need a telescope to see that much, but if we could use it as some sort of tool for/in skyland it might make enough usability to make astronomy seem worthwhile.

well this idea realy wasent to make more usefull items in the game it's to make the game for fun. fun is what every game needs.
What do you mean diamonds can't form in space? The Earth is in space.
(By the way, to get the full effect of what I've just said, listen to the song Peace Sells by Megadeth and swap "What do you mean I don't believe in God? talk to him every day.)
i mean diamounds don't form outside of earth, diamound is coal wich has formed underground around lava!
Constellations are the only part I really care for, and for that I simply want the stars to be a texture that I can edit on my own.
Agreed.

Cool idea, I would love being able to do that in game :smile.gif:
but 1 suggestion, mabye one of the glass blocks in the telescope could be changed to a diamond gem ( ) so that 1)it is slightly harder to build, making the experience more rewarding
2) because telesopes work by reflection and such (not absolutley confident on the inner workings :L) so it might make a little more sence, but then again you could just say the glass is mirrors
but these are only suggestions
I hope notch takes this idea or a similar one on board

Diamond can form anywhere with enough pressure and carbon. The Earth isn't that unique.
Agreed.
but wouldent coal need to be in space?

What makes you think it isn't?
That aside, Minecraft doesn't need to be that realistic.
i can agree with you not being to realistic. but i still would like seeing a new ore.
