Before I start, I'm not saying a map editor, I mean a tool to make your own storyline for a game. I guess in a sense like how Source Games have SDK (source development kit) but I haven't really used that so I'm not entirely sure what it is capable of.
This suggestion is basically my way of asking for a mix between Engine001 and Minecraft. To add a feature to the game where you can add NPCs and have them say things rather than using signs.
Engine001 is horrible graphics-wise, but is really user-friendly interface wise. Basically, what can be done in it is that you can add things such as people and mobs and objects and then you can do the scripting (which is also very easy) and make triggers; so if you put an NPC in a location, then you can have it triggered by pressing enter or something, and then what that triggers is them saying "hello traveler" or something like that. Also, custom textures can be added as well.
Tutorials could be made to help people out who can't figure out the whole business, so that could be good for the people learning and the people racking up views on their videos haha.
So, basically I hope for a mode where you can "create your own minecraftian story." Because making adventure maps is getting more and more popular, yet people still have to use signs and what-not to tell the story and it kinda ruins it; but with this, NPCs could be added to tell you, or even a piece of paper could be set so when it's clicked, a message pops up. This seems almost essential to making adventure maps.
Also: On the note of making maps, I also think that if this is added, that there should be an in-game list of top, top rated, new, and popular maps (and same with servers, but thats a whole different story, lol)
Idk.. what is that? Can you set NPCs and stuff with it and make certain ojects trigger events, etc?
Yes. Yes you can.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
