Hey, Hod Here, This is my first idea post. PLEASE leave a comment, because in my first post on a different section, i didnt get any replies.
Pre-Made Texture packs. (I SEARCHED FOR THIS BEFORE POSTING, SO DONT BLAME ME IF THERE'S A MILLION POSTS LIKE THIS.)
So, As i was saying, This Post sounds ridiculously noobish to some of you.
Notch may think Not.
Just sayin.

Ok, so the texture packs would be like, The regular one that you first have, A simple one where the whole block is the color of it's top in the original one, and an extremely detailed one, for your fast computers. If you would like, suggest other pre made texture packs in the replies.
Xaerdys, you are absolutely correct. the one that is one solid color on each block helps slow comps. leaves would just be a lighter shade of green than that of grass, don'tcha think?
Do not understand. What's wrong with just using one of the many, many texture packs already available? What, they're too difficult for you? You find it too hard to choose among them?
listen to koasritual. he's right. it's just for those people who dont wish to take the time to do so. OK?!

And no, it's not too hard for me to choose from. i just made one myself, and i still have no idea how to package it so it works with other minecraft's
.
If they're insufficiently tech-savvy enough to add their own texture packs, despite the program itself opening the texture pack folder for your pleasure... What makes you think they'll be able to figure out how to switch texture packs in the program itself?
Also, help me out here... What precisely does "A less frequent look" even mean?
Minecraft's graphics (in terms of pixel art) are very limited to begin with.
It would only make the game more difficult to play if the resolution of the textures were decreased.
If the blocks were solid colors, there would be no detail to diffrentiate between a Chest and a Workbench, or a Dispenser and a Smoothstone Block. They could only be diffrentiated with changes in shade/color, which is going to get too complicated. For grey you have Lightgreywool, Darkgreywool, Cobble, Smoothstone, Dispenser, Furnace, Moss Stone, Gold ore, Diamond ore, Coal ore, Iron ore, Lapis ore, RS ore, Gravel, etc.
I'm sorry but I can't support this, it would just confuse things in the game.

If there ever was a remote possibility that I would open Minecraft and see rocket ships and lightsabers, I'd much sooner take up alcoholism.

Search. It was everyone else's idea first, and it sucked every time.

You ZIP it. The file structure should be that of the .jar file. So if you just edited terrain.png, just zip that.

(remember i'm not accusing anyone of anything here.) What could also be added to it would be names above the block. like, say, Only for entities though because you dont want grass text to be blocking your vision. and the ores, maybe a sign with it too, but it would not be visible unless you were actually seeing the block itself. and for the wool, we've already differentiated it from other wools in the first place, so let's leave it at that.
As it is, only 16x16 will be the lowest resolution pack available, anything less than that would be horrendous. 32,64,128 are possible pre-made options. Although 32x32 default Minecraft is available on the forums ( not created by Mojang )
i agree. Completely. but xaerdys has a good point, y'know?
