I was hoping for weapon enchants, especially Knockback. (Sharpness would be nice too.) I like my SotZ especially because with Knockback and the multi-hit, it's great for getting a bunch of opponents off my back in a hurry,
As a weapon, the staff , it's a little short of the raw damage of the sword, and I could deal with only knocking back one opponent at a time. But without any enchants... yeah, backup weapon. And I'll just bet it can't jar nodes, either.... :-)
Use a regular weapon then. Besides, hitting with a staff is a last resort. It's primarily a ranged weapon with the foci. The low physical damage is the price you pay for having al all in one tool/weapon.

Recent changes in forge's ore dictionary has caused this. Try using forge .1112. Make sure to backup any important worlds before you downgrade forge as well. Oh, and when posting crash logs could you use spoilers please? You can make them like this:

Ah! Well, good to see it isn't a Thaumcraft bug at least! Is there a simpler way to clean up flux goo/gas from infusions other than placing a block over it and then destroying it? If not, there should totally be a flux atomizer or something that sucks up all the goo/gas and then releases it as negative energy into the aura or something.
I use water buckets to clean up flux. It's faster than placing and mining blocks.
If your infusion room is on solid ground, you can make water drains to prevent the water from spreading and messing up candles. You make a drain by digging two blocks down and putting a fence in the bottom. Since the hole is half a block deep for entity collisions you can walk right over it, but since it's empty for block placement purposes water runs into it.
Also, does anyone know the range of the Essentia Mirror or have advice on Essentia Storage? My storage room at the moment is too long to be covered by one mirror so I'm either going to have to make more mirrors or (Preferably) redesign the room. Right now I've got a 9x22 room with 1x3 slots being dedicated to a single aspect (So three jars of each aspect.) What does everyone else do?
I have a 13x17 room with the altar in the center. The furnace is on a long wall, with a water-upgraded golem to get the corners. I have single jars for every aspect, plus a couple of overflow jars. The space above the jar ring is mostly empty, but for some aspects like Telum or Praecantatio I have a second jar or even a Bibliocraft shelf full of jars there.
Recent changes in forge's ore dictionary has caused this. Try using forge .1112.
Actually, the latest releases have fixed the problem. I hear .1147 is good.

You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!
This doesn't seem to be causing any problems for now but it could in the future:
Thaumcraft is causing the download of CodeChickenLib version 1.1.1.80 when i already have 1.1.1.87.it's defintely TC that's doing it, if i remove the .80 file and disable TC, it doesn't download, but when i enable TC it does download.
Once downloaded it stays downloaded, so it isn't like it's a big deal. I don't think both versions will even load, only the newest. But in the meantime, there's an extra file in my mods folder that doesn't need to be there, and that bothers me, and if TC continues to require specific versions of dependencies, it could potentially cause some kind of conflict in the future (and honestly, TC will win over anything that needs the other version, as far as i'm concerned)
Just thought I'd mention it. Thanks for reading, even if you don't change it for your own reasons (and I won't bother you again about it because I love this mod!)
Staff are low damage? They are just like iron swords, so I think isn't low. Also, for combat without using swords you can use axes. Even they are tools, two in one!
>Meikos I usually make the needed essentia and a little bit more for what could happen. You can link two mirrors to one thought.
The thing about a staff is, while it's slightly less damaging than a sword and doesn't accept enchants, it also doesn't have durability, acts as a vis battery for all your repair enchants and runic shielding, and can use foci, including combat foci, which do accept certain enchants.
Oh, and you'd lose the bet, it can do anything a wand or sceptre can do as long as it doesn't involve being placed inside an arcane worktable. All in all, staves are very useful as-is. Allowing them to then also be enchanted further seems like it'd just make other weapons obsolete entirely. Not that a well-enchanted Bone Bow doesn't already do that for the most part...
There is that. So, this staff actually sounds like it can, and probably should, replace my wand entirely for the field, but not actually replace my sword or bow. My wands can go to my lesser-used crafting tables (my main crafting table has the scepter). (Definitely need more nodes....) It also makes the vis amulet more useful, since that requires actually wielding the wand, and that works better with the staff.
Working on the chicken farm. In the meantime, I finally did a second Travelling Trunk for around the base: Ernie's entropy upgrade was real handy in the field, but a PITA around the base, so Bert (order upgrade) will take over while I'm at home. (It's a shame the names don't appear in their GUI, though, my user name just covers the "stay here" box.)
A suggestion: Tiny Golem T-shirts. No ability changes, but they come in all the wool colors. ;-)

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.
Ooh, problem/bug for the traveling trunk, order edition. The T-con says to use shift-bell to pick it up and dump items. Problem: That strips and maybe loses the order upgrade. Bug: it also strips the trunk's name!

What do you mean by inventory deleting? I'm curious because I died earlier and couldn't find anything but my amulet and rings. Is this what you were talking about?

lol, oops. Guess I forgot the check the baubles version when looking at the forge version.
I managed to crash my server by trying to smelt netherrack into nether brick with an infernal furnace.
The crash-log is as follows: http://pastebin.com/PrFcmhRw
With my understanding is that the server crashes when it tries to give me a smelting bonus, but I could be wrong of course.
HAHA, the lack of reading is getting pretty silly here... all I can do is laugh.
While you're laughing everyone else is getting mildly annoyed. This is almost as bad as when we had the scanning crash with mob spawners, portal blocks and a few others.

I think many of you fail to realize most people are still new to minecraft and mods in general. The OP does not list a recommended forge version. It just says install forge, which to most means the latest version, so many are using whatever the last mod they installed recommends.or what version they happen to have. it also doesn't list ANY of the common issues / known bugs / crashes that spring up. To many people who are new here the crash log looks like nothing but gibberish so they do their best to at least copy / paste it here. If you look at most of their post counts to those with these so called common issues the post count is very low showing they truly have little idea or experience on what could be wrong. You should be thankful that many of them manage to at least post a crash log or provide some kind of basic information.
Also this thread is nearly 700 pages long! The forum search function while it does work, its tricky to find exactly what your looking for unless you KNOW exactly what your looking for. Something the average user does not have enough information or where with all to know. For example the biggest common issue regarding some of the recent forge version and the ore dictionary. The vast majority don't know what a crash log even means, let along how to decipher it into a root problem. Especially when it can be pretty vague and non-descript to someone who doesn't have any kind of background in either coding or modding in general. Its tough to pinpoint an exact cause when looking at what appears to be mostly gibberish.
Making snarky comments or making wrong assumptions that everyone who comes here should know everything about the common issues does not help. Being a snot and elitist doesn't do anything but make you look bad and very little to actually help those who are asking for it.
So, my golemized farms are overflowing, and I've been trading with my villager to buy Mystcraft notebooks and such. I still need to rebuild my chicken farm (my Thaumaturge Villager wants chicken nuggets), but otherwise, my big problem is that my mana bean farm is emptying my Herba jars as fast as I can fill them (and that's only three lamps). So, time to give that baby its own power supply.
So far, I've got several branch ideas, some of which can be made to spawn a surplus of other stuff. I'd like comments as to which might be better. Gold is not a problem (I just did a duplication because I wanted to reclaim some jars, and I've got 5 more jars of Lucrum and 20 blocks of emerald in storage), and I've got enough quicksilver for a decent project.
All of them have a Wood farm, feeding to a Vanilla Charcoal Generator which fuels an Arcane Furnace. From there, I realized I have several options:
Sugar cane farm feeding the distillation. This may be the fastest as far as Herba production, but it only produces Herba and waste primals (and charcoal).
Cactus farm. More herba per piece, but slower. Of course, I can divert some of the herba to speed it up, and cactus also produces Perdito. Plus, it allows another option:
(or 2B) If I send some of the charcoal to a different Arcane Furnace and a Thaumatorium, I can make Alumentum to distill the cactus... and then some! (Doing it with one Furnace would require some pretty tricky timing....)
Or... why not just distill the wood itself, and feed the Arbor directly to a centrifuge? And if my wood farm is a Greatwood farm, I can churn out Praecantio while I'm at it. The question is just how much slower the output from the centrifuge is...
So, what do you folks think? My initial thought is that all of them may require clearing of saplings, but I think if I feed the saplings to a hopper-to-double-chest, I can stuff the saplings from the "bottom" of the chest into the Arcane Furnace itself (more Herba).
I've used option two in the past, in a vertically stacked farm system including cactus, sugar cane, and nether wart in addition to the usual wheat, carrots, and potatos, with a growth lamp on every level. I don't think it was even running on alumentum, just charcoal, although this was in a version before essentia mirrors. On each level I had a pipe to a jar in the center with the lamps spaced out to cover the four quadrants (because connecting the tubes to all the lamps would feed only the very closest lamp since they never seemed to shut off their suction when full). I used cactus for (I'm assuming) the same reason you listed - arcane bore fuel slash alumentum production as a byproduct. The lamps' herba consumption rate might be higher in current versions, or your farms might be larger, making alumentum a requirement to keep up.
I've been experimenting lately with the uses for the thaumatorium and centrifuges (the new suction system makes this interesting, you really, really have to isolate your tubes). I managed to improve on a carrot- and feather-fed "golem factory" design I saw in Ben Fraley's LP (added buffer jars and eliminated use of filter tubes, primarily), and I can imagine a lot of other great uses for that combination of equipment now.
The main thing to keep in mind is that the centrifuge only gives you (approximately) half of its output as the aspect you want. Distilled greatwood is 1 Praec. and 3 Arbor = 1.5 herba + 1.5 waste aer (37.5% Herba distillation rate with 37.5% distillation waste), compared to nether wart's 1 herba + 1 praec. (50% Herba rate with 0 waste) and cactus's 3 herba, 1 perditio and 1 waste aqua(?) (60% Herba rate, 20% waste). So even if you use enough centrifuges to keep up with the furnace distilling the items (so the centrifuges aren't limiting production), greatwood would still be theoretically the slowest except for sugar cane (33.3% Herba, 66% waste).
On the other hand, the above only applies if the item input rate is sufficient to run the furnace full time. Without a cactus farm capable of keeping an alumentum-fueled furnace running 100% utilization that's going to reduce the effectiveness (not a big deal when under Lamp of Growth effect, mine was four 9x9 plots with water in the corners flowing around a 4x4 grid of sand with 16 cactus, with cobble between the spaces above them so they'd auto-pop, hoppers in the center collecting from the water flows. Those 64 cactus with lamps running was producing more than the charcoal-fired furnace could distill, not sure about alumentum though).
I'm still in favor of cactus, personally, because the usefulness of the Perditio byproduct brings the relative efficiency up to 80%. You can feed it into your alumentum production and it might be enough to have extra for running arcane bores.
Nothing says you can't produce herba via more than one means though. If you farm greatwood, you can use it to make charcoal to create alumentum or for any other purposes, you can distill it for more Praecantatio and centrifuge the Arbor for more Herba. You can even have a furnace distilling overflow saplings if you want. And there's always nether wart or sugar cane as backup options.
It's not that hard to at least read the current or previous page to see if there is already a solution to the problem. People just want the answer presented to them, they don't bother to seek out the answer themselves.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.

Is it just me or am I beginning to sound like a broken record here?
I use water buckets to clean up flux. It's faster than placing and mining blocks.
If your infusion room is on solid ground, you can make water drains to prevent the water from spreading and messing up candles. You make a drain by digging two blocks down and putting a fence in the bottom. Since the hole is half a block deep for entity collisions you can walk right over it, but since it's empty for block placement purposes water runs into it.
Actually, the latest releases have fixed the problem. I hear .1147 is good.
I've started a Notepad file with standard responses I can just copy and paste. You just used both the ones I have so far
I did not know that. That's good to know. I suppose I'll go update forge myself then.
Ha, I should use notepad as well. Then I can really sound like a broken record
>Meikos I usually make the needed essentia and a little bit more for what could happen. You can link two mirrors to one thought.
It is an ongoing struggle.
No ability changes, but they come in all the wool colors. ;-)
What do you mean by inventory deleting? I'm curious because I died earlier and couldn't find anything but my amulet and rings. Is this what you were talking about?
Oh... Well how do i update it?
lol, oops. Guess I forgot the check the baubles version when looking at the forge version.
And now we have:
5. Use forge version .1112 or .1147
Try using forge .1112 or .1147.
While you're laughing everyone else is getting mildly annoyed. This is almost as bad as when we had the scanning crash with mob spawners, portal blocks and a few others.
The lack of understanding and empathy is getting pretty silly here... all i can do is shake my head.
I agree that the OP needs an announcement when there is a *game breaking* bug like auto-deletion of top-tier items, or non-latest forge version.
I suggest that TC should search for the most recent compatible version of baubles to download, too, in the face of this maddening bug.
