Alright folks, the updating-Hack/Mine-to-1.7-a-thon stream shall resume today at 2:30 PM PST! You can find my channel on Twitch. Today's break periods will most likely feature myself playing The Incredible Machine, an old-school Rube Goldberg construction game originally released on MS-DOS! (The goal is to keep myself entertained dang it!)
Uhhh it's a lot more complicated than that. There definitely won't be Forge compatibility or anything for now, but people will be able to more easily integrate Hack/Mine with 1.7 mods, for what it's worth. Currently the only truly supported mod is Optifine, but I'm not sure if it's still valid to support it these days.
no forge compatibility... =( it wold be nice to have this as a mod, the posibilities would be huge...
Hey everyone, the I will again be opening up and taking breaks with the Incredible Machine. Sorry for the lack of notice and streaming, I've been super busy at work this week preparing stuff for the next EQ Landmark patch, and have been putting in time this weekend to get some things done. See errbody on the stream!
Is there a general time for when the update will be realesead or even a like alpha version of it.
In several weeks most likely. The estimate has been greatly increasing as I've realized just how fully Mojang has refactored their codebase. It will also depend on if I can improve my post-work functioning, as all of last week I've been getting home too burned out to work on anything -- I'm wondering if getting some exercise will improve it, but it could also be that I'm working on more strenuous things lately and there's little I can do about it. Programming is mentally exhausting!

The only real way to solve mental fatigue is getting a good amount of rest and lots of breaks in that you are not thinking about anything. Just sit/lay somewhere and simply relax. Yeah its kinda boring but that's the point, the less you mind is active in those breaks the better.
Works pretty good for me during long stretches of coding.
i think villages need to spawn more, in my recent world i have travelved through 3 oceans and have raided atleast 15 towers. and still not a single sign of a village.
Edit: ok so i found a village but noone sells anything there, i cant trade wiht them whenever i try to right click them they fill my screen wiith errors.Theres also sometihng wrong with towers spawning, i see chests floating in the air also the jukebox that teleports u to the entrance of the tower and i see torches on the floor everywehre
Hey everyone, just an update -- apologies for no stream this weekend, I'm still crunching on things at work :/ We're preparing for the awe-inspiring Caves Patch due next week for EQN Landmark (which you should totally check out), and naturally there's an insane amount of work going into it. But, as soon as that's out and I've had a day to relax, the streaming shall resume!
I also want to post some things on Nebulous Rax, like a tech demo, more music, and maybe some of the concept-ing I've put into it... so stay tuned!
P.S. Just to get it out there, I found a hilarious bug that was causing the FPS drop in the last NR update -- I was basically doing 8x times as much work rendering the voxels (cause I totally forgot to divide the number of voxels by 8), so uh, prepare for a massive improvement in the next video! I've added block particles, a few major performance optimizations, and clouds, awooooo, so stay tuned...
EDIT: forgot to mention that there's also block editing and raytracing (hit collision for rays against voxels), lulz!
im finding chests and jukeboxes in the sky everywhere. it always goes to this screen of saving areas then just crashes. when i go back in i find chests and jukeboxes in the sky.
Made an account just to post this. I've been longing for a minecraft RPG experience that I can enjoy with friends. Others that I have tried haven't really held my attention very long, but this is just incredible. Played the old version in the Technic Launcher and cannot wait for it to be updated to 1.7. Thank you SO much for making the time to do it. Obviously you have other responsibilities in life to focus on, so I will wait patiently and follow this closely
Hey folks -- I'm going to try my best post a Nebulous Rax update tomorrow. Tonight I'm polishing up a bit, then tomorrow I'll record and push, unless there's a crisis at work and my people need me!
I'll see if I can't stream a Hack/Mine update in the middle of next week, since weekends have been fairly busy, apparently.
EDIT: So I attempted recording today, and ran into a major issue that causes the application to hang onto excess memory to the point of screen tearing after about 5 minutes of recording. I'm working hard to fix it, and hopefully I can record either tonight or tomorrow, but in all likelihood the video won't be posted tonight :/ Argh!
EDIT AGAIN: I fixed a few issues and I can say the engine is in a state that I'm proud of -- there don't appear to be any memory leaks or long-term issues, meaning you can fly about the voxel world and explore to your heart's content. The only major issue atm is poor light selection for non-LOD-zero chunks (ugly chunks in the distance), so I might see if I can fix it up a bit before the video. Anyways, I'll make the video tonight and post it asap!

Thank you! Everyone's encouragement has been huge for me -- it definitely keeps me motivated to update the mod, and god knows I need it with how significantly the codebase has changed. There's still a lot of work ahead, but the end is coming in sight.
I have to say, the huge planets in the video look like gravitlcraft planets that have moving and turning sprites, as well as them being invisible (can fly through them)
I'm looking forward to H/M updating to 1.7. By the way, when you said you "were going to have a little fun with it before open sourcing," what did you mean by that? NEW FEATURES?
Yo dawgs and dwagettes, I'm streaming Master of Orion tonight, and Hack/Mine updating tomorrow! I'm experimenting with a new setup, so tonight is partly to ensure everything is good for tomorrow. You can watch me on . I'll be on until a little past 12 PST most likely, so feel free to drop by any time!

EHHH heh heh heh... a few. Or just more content using existing features. Maybe both
So i read your going to be a dev of everquest next. Very impressive.... I Plan on buying that game when im bored some day( Minecraft seems to make being bored really impossible) The voxel based adventure thing seems neat, and the whole "changed the way the game loads so it depends not on chunks and on your computers memory not cpu" thing sounds really intresting, becuase my computer has 8 gigs of ram, but basically no horsepower. LOL anyways, what I reallllly came here for, Is the original reason I ever used mods, pretty much ever in minecraft (back in 1.8.1 when i played mc for the first time and wanted to play your modpack, and modloader was a thing riesume? was that mod developers name right?, manually installing your mod back then was intresting for sure XD I somehow finnally got it right, the third time..... SOOO hows the mod now? LIKE your plans, becuase you say your updating it too 1.7, I was wondering, are you going to implement any new features? or just leave it as it was left off, becuase even tho barly anyone still plays it, I think with some revamping, it could have a second wind, i still play it for a few days every couple of months myself, its addicting.... And on lan servers, me and my best bro play it whenever we have time to hang out, and cant get timesplitters future perfect (for the ps2, AND IT WAS AND STILL IS AMAZING) becuase often we dont feel like pulling out the old ps2, Anyhow, if you even bothered to read this gibbirish...
Main pionts of this long rant :
1. congratz on being a dev of a new Huge (and definatly growing) online game.

3. I LOVE you. wellllll your work anyway.
4BONUS QUESTION! IM 19, with an attetion span of oh look your profile picture is a squirrel.... is there anywhere on the www that i can learn to code? I want to know java, maby javascript, maby html (i think i might already know a tad, unsure if its java script ,html or just forum code tho)maby lua (idk if thats how its spelled, its how its pronounced tho) basically I want to learn java, & maby a few other languages, but If i tried to read a textbook about it, i would Probably make it 3 pages in...

Oh thank god, I thought I missed the opportunity to respond to your questions 3 minutes after you asked them

Yes! The Technic Launcher will always feature the latest version of Hack/Mine.

I'm just a Minecraft player that likes to give my opinion. Nothing special to see here.

I'll attempt to stream a Hack/Mine update this week, depending on my workload. Cheers!
The original Zilophos.
