Thank you! Ran around for weeks to find some carrots - no village anywhere, no zombie wanted to give me one.
The amidst-map showed a *lot* of villages - that couldn't be correct! But the first coordinates visited had a village.
I eventually found my carrots.
A really good program, very well made and functional. On GNU/Linux (Ubuntu 14.04 Unity 64bit) I have not found important problems; even if it crashes when I select a profile snapshot. I hope it continues to work, it's a great open source project!
I just fixed that-- but I still need to add support for those custom world parameters, and then I'll release an updated beta (or possibly version?)
Edit
(Still needs support for things like no villages)

Sorry If I am the annoying one antecipating stuff. Are you going to update it to snapshot 14w25a so it can find Water Dungeons or you will wait ulti 1.8 is released?

Well, I mean if you're really impatient you could download the JDK, Eclipse, and clone the Git repo. It's pretty functional right now.
I don't understand how to make the biome color profiles work. What does it mean "a folder named "biome" next to AMIDST"? How do you put it next to AMIDST?

What he means is where ever you have Amidst residing on your hard drive, in that same folder make a new folder called biome.
For example I have a folder called 37Amidst that contains AMIDST-3.7-beta-1.exe, AMIDST-3.7-beta-1.jar, and several other files.
Also in this folder is a sub-folder called "biome".
If you create this folder the next time you run that copy of Amidst it will see that sub-folder and write out a file called "default.json".
I suggest that you download Notepad++ to edit this file.

Whatever folder has AMIDST in it (please don't have it on your desktop) has to have a folder called "biome" that should contain the color profiles you want.

Is there a guide to get this working? There seems to be some pretty specific requirements for getting this to work; like versions supported, etc..but I can't find a how-to anywhere...All I get are java errors and it crashes.
I love this program. Thanks for tirelessly maintaining it, Ski.
You sir, took the words out of my mouth. I also really hope to see mod support someday... maybe a way to customize the color of modded biomes, to make it easier?

I'm guessing it's a custom built. (Downloaded source and then compiled).
The commit of the 14th of June mentions: "Added basic support for the new snapshots. (Customized world types are currently ignored)."

Well, thanks... I guess xP
But you kinda didn't answered what I asked, that was a "I will update it after 1.8 comes out"?
Try using the beta that's listed on GitHub.
I'll try to get an update out when I have a chance.

Yeah I'd love to see Biomes O' Plenty support, and Ski has mentioned interest, but I think it's a matter of time to do it.
