Not sure if anybody knew the following two things, but here you go:
1: Cook a Wet Sponge in a Furnace to make it dry again.
2: Use the Depth Strider enchant on boots to make you be able to move through the water much faster.

badgers... when where they added? i heard about the bunnies but not badgersone question.... what are will the 1.8 update mainly be about? the ocean? "The Ocean Update"? or just a little ocean and rankdom other stuff?
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
First up, grass and fern blocks don't render with an offset anymore. All nice even rows. Good for gardens maybe but looks bad in the wild I think.
Apparently the anisotropic filtering option is gone for now.
And for the bug, splash potions when thrown render as...that.
Can't say I'm a fan of the new sponge texture but wouldn't say it's terrible either. Would probably get used to it in time, kind of like when they changed the gravel texture.

I noticed that there's gold in the dungeons... 8 Blocks of it! Not sure if it spawns in every dungeon, but there's some of it here: http://imgur.com/a/Bwutu

why have nip mapping off, it doesn't affect fps at all
Played around a bit. The new mob is interesting, but I still would like to see ambient fish, plants/corals and even birds for oceans and land. They don't have to do anything special. I am hoping the mod API comes through and I can get mo'creatures and whatnot added on a permanent basis - or so I hope.
The dungeon idea is nice, but I was hoping, and I speak only for myself and my spouse, that these things might occupy bodies of water at random, like squid and not just around a specific structure.
Those are my thoughts. Just gonna enjoy seeing what I can build with the new blocks
edit: what the pit is that creepy ghost thing?

Guys, the Ghost-thing comes from the bigger version of the new water mob. (The new mob is called a Guardian, right?)
The ghost also gives you Mining Fatigue when it appears.
I looked at the bug tracker site, but I'm not sure how to report a bug. I'm playing with a friend and we discovered that Dark Oak wood (the logs fresh from a tree) are bugged. When you harvest it, it's purple and black checkerboard, and when you try to place it, it crashes the game. Also, when I caught on fire (got too close to lava) all I could see (nearly the whole screen) was purple and black checkerboard, where the fire effects should have been. The other thing I've found is that stairs will not place properly. If you're standing facing east, then it's no problem, but any other direction won't place right.
I noticed that the glow on enchanted items and enchanted golden apples are like that of 1.6 again (In 1.7 it looked brighter, in 1.6 it looked a little bit darker).

Why have it on? All it does is make stuff fuzzy in the distance. It's also both very obvious and stupid looking with things like ladders (they turn into complete fuzz like 12 blocks above your position).

Depth stride lets you walk super fast underwater if its on any armor pieice!
I'm pretty sure it's helmet only, i watched docm77's video and he said so. Either that or you can only enchant the helmets, but it still works on others. We should find out...
Guardian Kills squid = squid (potentially) drops ink?

What's the link on the bug tracker?
You did post it on the bug tracker, right?

Yes
Yes, they do (and the guardian's attack is really weird)
Endermites came out a few snapshots ago...
Yeah, I get a gigantic lag spike when I go underwater at all.

Re: coarse dirt: if it's a replacement for "grassless" dirt then why bother adding in a new block? Isn't it just a texture change at this point?
They did this with all 1.7 snapshots, from 13w36a to 13w43a
