Im just wondering why the heck this is a good idea it is gonna lower the mc players by about 70%
And what statistical data is behind this claim? I'll take a wild guess and say you pulled it from thin air. The same goes for pretty much everyone else, we have 'no' idea how this will impact the community in the long run, if it will have any impact at all. All these outcries of doomsday are no less hysterical than the weekly end of the worlds. And if the community ends up suffering casualties it will most likely be at its own hands, by people who chicken out and pack up their bags without even trying to adapt.
I just want Mojang to finish all the paperwork and get 1.7.10 out already so we can stop speculating & running in circles and start adapting (or giving up, whichever you prefer).
What he is saying is...
Mojang said no more servers allowing pay to win.
You have in your signature (Just $5.00 gets you INSTANT OP).
This is what he meant by YOU are one of the reasons they are doing this.
I CAN'T CHANGE IT OK!? I'VE TRIED AND TRIED FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS!
Ahem. Personal attack, plus he said that he tried but could not change it.
Edit: wow. Kindle keyboard has epicfailed again. Took me two posts to respond.

Okay I'm done but here is the point I wanna make:
I understand my signature says this, but that's for Pocket Edition anyways...and if the forums let me change my signature for once then it might be different, but I'm truly afraid that my server will be a total waste of my money and my players are more scared than me! OK?YOU HAPPY NOW? I CHANGED MY SIGNATURE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TWO MONTHS! UGH DON'T BE A HATER!
I'm more generalized angry with Mojang at the decision to use a wrecking ball on a nail. That's what the problem is. There are plenty of nonbreaking ways to have in-game perks that are not cosmetic. Mojang just blacklisted everything indiscriminately.

I find it interesting that people think somehow that if servers die out, Mojang will stop selling copies of Minecraft. And even if you feel strongly about the servers' role towards Minecraft's popularity, I don't know that people typically buy Minecraft initially to play on a server. Added with the fact that, there have never ever been update fees from Mojang on their game - meaning, there really is no loss to Mojang financially if all servers stopped. But even if the purchase of Minecraft to play on a server is a key factor for someone, I bet the user obviously saw the server from another source. I'd argue YouTube is the key factor to Minecraft sales. In this theory, I'd say the key to a server's success might remain with video monetization. I bet that is where the popular servers will remain. Whoever's server maintains the strongest viewership, will remain. Monetization will pay for the bills - for that matter perhaps in-game ads?
Having said that. I wouldn't jump to conclusions about big servers dying out. There will always be servers. There will always be server owners who will give out quality for free. I just think people are really scared because this is what the community has only known for years.

This. We haven't yet seen the true effect of the EULA.
So i noticed a few loopholes in this eula that bother me.
purchasing soft currency for hard currency:
1.the community i help run has multiple server styles (WoW,GarrysMod AND minecraft) and we use a site currency to manage payments on ALL our games. so by your statement, i cannot use our site soft currency, which can be bought and earned freely due to its nature, in minecraft ,because its a hybrid currency??
2.we do have Pay-to-Play servers within our network, but was planning to connect them to our master network for player convenience (cut 12 separate ips down to 1) now with the eula change, we cannot proxy the pay to play servers (that can be access without the proxy if players wish) with our free to play servers without granting the free players access (even if trial access) to the paid servers(hence the free play servers)?
3.cosmetic items.what do YOU call a cosmetic in game item???(besides player names, colors,ANYTHING dealing with chat?) hats are considered a gameplay item as they are useable items in themselves.
4.have you thought on server INTEGRITY. our servers RESTRICT features of the server due to know exploits native in the code or plugins (greifer exploits). we allow pay players to have use of features that affect the server in its entirety but post as a integrity risk to our servers. by your eula, we either strip our pay players access to these features(which will anger and reduce our already dwindling playerbase) or give the free players who haven't bought/earned rights to these features to use as well( a terrifying idea) what would you do in this situation?
5.this is a bit of a personal rant as i'm getting tired of angry players hitting my support staff due to the eula. as it stands, its the punish the many for the stupidity of the few. and the few can and most likely will still get away with it

I honestly, TRULY doubt that popular and "good" servers didn't do wrong. If what you said here was the case, Mojang wouldn't have clarified the EULA.
This. We haven't yet seen the true effect of the EULA.
The point of this is, Mojang is reacting to the $10K kits. This is also hitting the servers who have reasonable prices and items.

It just, I feel like it ruins any true PvP server. Is any pvp'er going to donate to get particles? Of course not. A lot of people don't even play with particles on. Its just a huge divide. My server isn't going to survive this update. The server breathes off me selling ranks with kits in them. I'd have to charge a monthly fortune for a bit of color. It just doesn't work. I get the changes totally. I'm not stupid. But it just is *If it's enforced of course* going to break a lot of servers. Servers that breathe off selling access to fly, to gamemode, to god. It I isn't going to work. It's going to most likely ruin the community, without a workaround. I saw a post earlier that said basically making money off of adfly loops. I feel that's what a lot of servers are about it rely on. It just isn't going to be stable enough.
I'm more generalized angry with Mojang at the decision to use a wrecking ball on a nail. That's what the problem is. There are plenty of nonbreaking ways to have in-game perks that are not cosmetic. Mojang just blacklisted everything indiscriminately.
This. I don't really play minecraft anymore except a certain pvp free for all server that has the most balanced gameplay ive seen, but with premium classes. These classes are widely recognized as not being OP, and frankly, a FREE class was recently nerfed, lol. But Mojang doesn't care. They know they can't inspect every server and use judgement to decide whether or not to let them keep those up.
This is purely about their image. Mojang doesn't want to be seen as a company that makes kids want to steal their mom's credit card to pay some rediculous amount of money to a server. Yet they said it themselves, these servers are not run by Mojang. Its the owners who allow such outragous prices to be set on certain perks for their servers, but the parents who find out only know the name Minecraft and figure Mojang is the one setting these prices. What Mojang needs to realize is that plenty of games get media about kid's stealing credit cards to pay for certain things on a game. It happens all the time. You aren't going to look bad. And you shouldn't care because its not going to drop your sales. Stop covering this up with your idea that you want all the servers to encourage equality or whatever. This isn't a fantasy world and money doesn't grow on trees.
As to people who claim donators will still donate regardless of perks: Well sure they would. Thats basically what donations MEAN. But we aren't talking about donators. We are talking about buyers and sellers, aka 95% of the people that give money to the big servers and those server owners. Without any incentive, these buyers are not just going to have a change of heart and magically turn into donators. Servers will undoubtably lose money. Many servers will be shut down.
Am I saying I like pay to win? No. To hell with those servers. But this idea to just wipe away all servers that actually gives incentives in a smart and non game breaking way are screwed as well. Mojang shouldn't care. Its the player's decision to play on those pay to win servers. I said to hell with them, but to be honest, why should I try and get rid of them? I don't like pay to win, so I don't PLAY on pay to win. Simple as that. If people want to pay hundreds of dollars to get OP kits on a server, let them! Who cares why the non paying demographic still decides to play on those servers! There are (I am assuming) millions more out there that you can find. I found that pvp server i mentioned earlier, and I have played on it for over 2 years!
But nontheless, its not like Mojang cares about this post. I already know that the only server I play on when it comes to minecraft is either going to need to make some major changes or eventually shut down. I really hate saying this but I feel like all I can do is just sigh and say "oh well." I probably would stop playing Minecraft for good.
prices and items (assuming they aren't cosmetic) should never be in the same sentence regarding donations...
You're right. That's why I didn't say donations.
But seriously, I do not agree with these changes as they wreck a lot of servers. PvP, which I don't personally like, though some do, basically dies immediately. RP servers, while ranks happen, particle effects, ./hat, etc...Those break immersion. In-game currency is the least breaking thing that actually could serve as a suitable recognition of someone's contribution, and that's banned. Seriously? This is just a bit much to drop on peoples' servers. They will die. And I for one will most likely not come back if they do.

Cry babies everywhere are out in full force: http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/save-ecc-save-hexxit-voltz-and-minecraft-period.99143/ and I'm sure there are hundreds of threads like that as a result. I say this is a relatively good decision by Mojang. Luckily my server is new enough where we can easily make adjustments to comply with these standards and even grow by them. Other servers maybe not so much.
Bravo, Mojang. Thank you for helping level the playing field for the rest of us. True PvP is just PvP. Kits should be given based on player achievement and not money. Happy players will donate if a server is I trouble.
