Yeah, looks like your router is just flat out rejecting connections as a DOS protection. Remember that home routers are not made with running servers in mind, and in most cases, are the first and last line of defense to people's private networks. Makers have to assume people are stupid and protect them from that stupidity.

Not shown: those are tickboxes, so I can turn it all off.
Are you testing from inside of your home network, or do you have someone testing on the outside? Many routers won't let you access a forwarded port from inside of the network.
My friend and I decided to try making our own server but we ran into some problem with ports.
I followed this guide and did a bit more research and I was able to connect to my server, but my friend couldn't do the same with his despite using the same method as I did.
First, I got my IPv4 address:
Then I set my ports:
Then I allowed the port in my firewall's advanced settings:
Then I used canyouseeme.org to check if the port is open.
DMZ is set to my internal IPv4 address (we changed it to his when we try to get his server up)
At first mine did not work, but after reseting the modem and giving it 5 minutes or so, I was able to get on with my public ip obtained from ipchicken.com
I tried getting my friend to follow the same step but idk why it doesnt work for him.. anyone know what could have possibly gone wrong?
We are both connected to the same modem. I used port 25565 and he used 2224, a port that is not used by anything. He even turned his firewall off. canyouseeme.org stated that his port is open but when we try to connect to the server, we keep getting the connection refused message.
Whats up guys! Well, i have been trying to forward the 25565 port for a while and im having some problems.
First of all, my IPV4 is 192.168.25.23 so, i go to my router's configuration and try to forward the port. Different from others routers, mine (GVT Power BOX) ask for the source IP and for the destination IP. At the Destination IP I put my ipv4, and at the source i never know if i have to put my external IP (provided by google) or if put Standard Getway. I've already tried both, and both didnt work,
I have already set the DMZ for my IP at the router's config.
I have already done outbound and inbound rules to allow connection on the 25565 port, both UDP and TCP.
I have tried to both No-IP and Static IP, when i used Static IP, my IPV4 changed to 192.168.25.160, so i changed all the configuration at the router to match with the new Ip.
Another problem is that i cant use any port forwarding programs cause my router is not on the list of any program. (Because it is made by a TV, Internet and telephone provider, and i think it dont exist in other countries).
Therefore, my real problem is that my friends cant join in my server, but i can open it without having problems with binding port. When try to see if my port is forwarded by using softwares such as PFportChecker, it is said that my port is not forwarded.
So, i dont know why my port is not forwarded, because in my opinion everything at routers configuration is right and the same at firewall.
So, if you have any suggestion that can help me, please leave a comment below, and sorry for my bad english!
Hey there forums...So i wanted to open a server so only people from my school can play all together...I got everything done, I can join my own server and the consle is working and all but the port forwarding part that has to do with the router setting is ing me off i've been trying for the past monthish now and watched like alot every video on it out there, and yes i tried portforward.com ...no luck so i need help i would perfer if i can share screens via skype with the helper cuz im i mess up alot...thx ;3 INFO: minecraft 1.7.9 beta built bukkit server Telus (internet) Actiontec V1000H (router)
192.168.1.1 is a very unusualy IP for a router to give out from its DHCP. Usually they give between 100 and 200 to avoid issues with overlapping with the gateway...
Also, if you are on the same modem, why are you port forwarding? You can just use your internal IP to connect with eachother. Further, trying to run 2 servers from the same connection is not very good unless you have one hell of a connection speed. Try a port not so low on the list like 25566 or 25564

Yes it is a little unusual.. not exactly sure why I kept being assigned port .1.1
If we wanted to play a simple LAN game, yes, we wouldn't go through all these trouble. We want to start a server so that our friend who are elsewhere can join us whenever they want as well. We are going to have an old computer with broken display to keep the server on 24/7.

That's not a port number, its part of the IP address.
Ive had issues when not using the default port number. Not sure why. Running 2 servers from the same internet connection probably isnt a good idea anyway. They can hog a lot of the bandwidth fairly easily.

typo.. i meant IP.. we have been at this issue for like 48 hours and its driving me insane, so yeah...
Anyways I think you misunderstood my situation. We are not running 2 separate servers. We are experimenting individually. There is only ONE server up at a time. Once I got my server to work, I shut it down before trying to get his to work.

Well then try using the default 25565 port and see what happens. If you aren't running them at the same time, then there should be no issue with the overlap. You will just have to adjust the forward with the different IP.

Hello, I have been trying to set up my first server, however I am having problems opening port 25565.I have followed a few tutorials, one router specific one from portforward.com, as well as YouTube videos and other guides.I set up a static IP address and allowed rules in Window's and Norton's firewalls. However whenever I check if the port is open with online websites I get the error Connection Refused. This also happens when I try to connect to my server using my external IP address, but I can connect to the server through localhost and my internal IP address. Here is a screenshot of how my port forwarding is set up:I have tried disabling Norton's and Window's firewalls, as I think that one or the other is the problem, however my port remained closed. I did test while server was running also. Here are some pictures of those:Rules for Minecraft:Rules for Java:Traffic rule:Rule Settings:EDIT: Here is what it looks like when I check port:
My operating system is Windows 8.1, I have Norton 360 installed, and Java 8
My router is also a Netgear WNDR3400v3.
Thanks for reading, and any feedback or help is appreciated.

I tried 25565, 25566, 25567.. and a dozen other ports.. unfortunately none of them works.

Then it has to be something in the server configuration. Try copying over your known working setup in its entirty to your friends computer, make sure the forward is correct to his computer, and see how it works.
Also, for the sake of testing everything, are you able to connect with localhost (127.0.0.1) and your local IP address?

I done everything all over again.. this time my internal IP is 192.168.1.6 instead of 192.168.1.1 like last time and i wasnt able to connect through.. connecting via localhost or internal ip works fine.
I've tried everything with the Arris DG860A. I've tried time and time again to port forward it since I've had this thing and been unable to. I've successfully port forwarded in the past, but just can't get it to work on here. I'd absolutely love some help here. There's nothing simple like a "Port forwarding" section. It's crap like "Virtual Servers". "DHCP Client Lists", etc. Nothing that's really covered in the guides I've read. Even a screenshot guide for the modem/router itself failed. I'm at a loss and would love some help. Someone who could help walk me through it if they've had to port forward with the same modem/router. :/

Its geared for the 360, but same method applies. Looks like you create a Virtual Server listing for the port.
That's the exact guide I used, which doesn't work. Haha. From what I've tried to find it looks like there's a few other things you have to do, which isn't included in the guide and no one goes over how to do it. I use a port checker to see and every single time it's closed. Says connection was refused.
Not sure if this is the correct place but,
about a week and a half ago I decided to start a minecraft server then found bukkit.org so I started a craftbukkit server I have been able to get it started and I run it through bukkitGUI I have also been able to have my friends come on for the past week along with myself but when I went to start my server this morning through bukkitGUI I got this error message:

8:43:47 AM [WARNING] The exception was: java.net.BindException: Cannot assign requested address: JVM_Bind
8:43:48 AM [WARNING] Perhaps a server is already running on that port?
What should I do I have already portforwarded and like I said it was working but now my server won't even start I have tried to close out of all java proccesses in my task manager, I have already tried to shut down and restart my computer but nothing is working I still get the same message every time.

It doesn't look like you specified a destination IP for your forward on your router, (The one running your server), so it doesn't know where to go.
Also, port checkers don't always work. The only way to actually test is to attempt logging on your server with your external IP address.
