So I mentioned photos a few days ago and I finally found a point after rebuilding and then extending my line a bit, to sit down, sort through all my photos of the aforementioned events and decide what to post. But before I show off those I have one last 1.6.2 image. I've taken the Lands of Iuvem map and started building a railroad there separate to my main game world, mainly to just experiment with double tracking. Oddly enough the photo is of the one area that isn't double tracked. After that all the photos will be of my main world in the most recent version of RoW.
1.6.2
1.7.2
Also, all the 1.7.2 pictures were taken with the new 1.7.2 GLSL Shaders mod and the new SEUS 10.1 preview shader.
Hope everyone enjoys them, I quite enjoyed not only taking them, but slowly building up this giant world covered in rails.
Are lamp posts supposed to be unlit? As in it's not implemented yet? Because when I put one down, it doesn't give off any light. Do I need something to light it?

Thanks!
You need a redstone torch or some redstone system to light it up the tall one, the small wall hanging ones are always on.
Seems like I have some odd issues. I have latest download and latest forge. Mod installs fine and all items are there. I can happily lay track but it's the locos I have serious problems with. If I right click on them (anywhere on the locos) the coal does nothing. If I right click with empty hand to enter a loco, nothing happens. If I try to break up a loco, I cannot. Every block around the loco breaks but it just sits there.
Now, I don't know if your coding has controls hardcoded into it? instead of using the ones set up in the options menu? because my controls are all differently set up to default. For example I use the middle mouse button to lay blocks or give coal to the locos.
The wagon which doesn't use coal, the one where you use levers seems to work fine. I can get on it and go forwards and backwards, it's just an issue with giving coal. I think I'm correct in saying you can't get in the train to drive it unless it has coal anyway? but there's still the problem of breaking up the locos.
There might be an issue at hand but my best advice is, on the left side of the locomotives there are these dark circles near the bottom, aim for that when clicking with the coal. The locomotive should start smoking, if it doesn't keep getting closer to that area till you bump up against the engine. If it still doesn't work then we might have an issue but from the sounds of it so far it's just clicking in the wrong place.
Also to destroy locomotives you crouch and click. If that doesn't work get out an iron sword and crouch and click, either way should work.
I've actually run into an interesting issue, the locomotive runs out of coal faster if I'm riding in, let's say, the passenger car then if I were in the cab. I'm not sure if this is because of Minecraft code of RoW code also not sure if it's a major issue or not. It's such a rare specific case you could claim it's a feature so the train doesn't run off without you into other chunks.
how do i remove the train? i placed it on the rails to look at it but when i tried clicking it, all i did was destroy surrounding blocks and rails....i ended up making a giant hole for it to fall into nothingness! lol
I gotta admit, I am a little gutted that there wasn't a final 1.6.4 release before the 1.7.2 one - Lots of us are still on 1.6.4 hoping for a version where trains work server-side...

Unfortunately it has some slow down to it. Originially with my framerate, it was about 50- 60 frames per second. With trains and tracks on my world, half of that per second.

No, no, no, no! Updating to 1.7.2 was horrible, I don't want doing that again.

so I must ask you naiten, is it safe now to request Locomotives now???
If you look at the last few pages you'd probably notice there is no need to request new locomotives because the RoW team are working on new locomotives and have a list of locomotives to do next.
I love this mod is one of my favorite mods not exept its not a big mod its not got a lot of stock but is exstreamly fun to play with as im one of those people who enjoy trains and know the whole history behind it. now i dont know if you would be happy to but if i send you a link to the fist steam locomotive http://en.wikipedia....henson's_Rocket obviously i like this train because it used to run in my area and its part of the history of my town so i would be extreamly happy if you added it. if you need a modeler i would be happy to give you the time to make the models but i have not experience in modeling so you would have to teach me. one final thing me and my freind are making a roleplay modpack obviously we would like your permission to use rails of war in it.
If you read the initial post, the first spoiler tag actually holds information about how Stephenson Rocket and more early steam engines are up for debate/poll on if they should be done in the future. Last I checked, the clear winner was in fact doing them. Also, it's 2014, all internet browsers have spellchecker integrated, please take advantage of that fact.
Also, just a note, a good idea for building tunnels now is either build them three above the top of the locomotive, or just make sure you're locomotive is fueled up before entered. With how you are ejected from the locomotive and rolling stock models right now you'll end up partially stuck in the blocks/ceiling. Which is comical the first two times but requires patience and learning workarounds after.
Otherwise been enjoying the new rolling stock and track options. It's really made building my railroad more diversified if not just a tad better planned. Overall Naiten, you've done a great job on re-coding and updating the mod to 1.7.2. I'm not entirely sure where you're planning to take the mod next, the brief vibe I got a while back reminded me of splines but I'm not sure how that could be incorporated with Minecraft's block system.

don't be fooled by my profile pic, im a huge fanster of trains as well, ever since as far back as I could remember. my favorite locomotives are the American 4-4-0's and the 2-6-0's, and I know ALMOST how everything works in the loco's (exept for the early air brakes)

ok thanks, that's all I needed to here. and also can you (Naiten) find a better way to couple the cars together? I usually have a hard time doing so.
Speaking of poor planing, could we potentially see a turntable? I derped up and one of my branch lines terminates in a canyon (sort of a national park) and I don't want to go knocking down the natural walls just to make a turn around loop. Some sort of odometer whould be cool to the see exactly how far our tracks go (either in tool or carriage form)

For that type of small area, see if a wye might be plausible. It takes up much less space than say a loop. I agree with the turntable idea though, it would be nice to figure out how to turn locomotives around without needing forty acres.
I also have a bug to report, the cars that are connected to the train always go super slow In the turns. it is really annoying because the loco's have to back up numberuos times just to get all the cars out of the curve. is it OK that you fix this? and also could you make a bar that shows you what the speed of the train is? I think it would give you a lot more control on the locomotive's speed.

I had that problem, too. It's so strange why this happens, but usually I have one cart attached to a train and it works fine, but with multiple, it slows down like crazy!
yeah, this bug is SO ANNOYING!!! I CANT MAKE A SUCECCFUL TRAIN WITH DIS!!!, HOW COULD YOU MAKE MILE LONG COAL TRAINS THAT HOLD COMMON PEOPLE AND AMBULANCES UP?!?!?

This is very important. Please in 2 versions with 2 and 3 blocks space between the tracks
