Minecraft was made for creating your own story. And... ITS A SANDBOX GAME. Sandbox games don't have stories (adventure maps are an exception, as are headcanaons). Just... no. I have had enough of these suggestions...

Tell me where you've seen 5000 other suggestions wanting a campaign and I'll be convinced.

Face it.. Minecraft is getting boring.
Tell me when Jeb adds this.
Face it, minecraft is never getting a story mode.
Minecraft is not meant to have a story implemented, as YOU make the story. Even if it DID have one, minecraft would lose its creative feeling and lose players. Seriously, put some thought into a suggestion before creating.
P.S. We have a lot of topics for "story modes" . While not 5000, it's still there. And gues what: they are all ALIKE (with this one included). Make your own theories for zombie viruses, creepers and Endermen.

Dude why do you think I suggested this damn thing?
I even said in the suggestion that YOU CAN MAKE UP YOUR OWN STORY

Even if you did have an official story or not... I don't see how it would make people lose interest in the game based simply on a story. Like.. Oh no.. there's a story... that means all creativity from you and other players alike are going to be lost forever... yeah that makes sense.

You are not understanding what I am saying. And I don't think explaining it will be any clearer. If you want to make your own story, make an adventure map (I know it's this is on xbox suggestions but still).

Sound like you have never beat the Ender Dragon... or didn't bother to read the ending story line that follows beating the Ender Dragon....
MC may have started out strictly as a sandbox game but has evolved a long way since then to include a survival aspect to include hostile MOB challenges and even boss fights, as well as a 'story' of sorts. Your denial that one should ever exist when clearly that one already does exist (and has existed for some time now) is a bit short sighted.

Not necessarily true. As Greg Nelson said, once the Ender Dragon is defeated, there IS a story:Ender Dragon Story
Yeah great idea. But it would definitely defeat the creative aspect of the game. But I would like to see an actual story come from it. Maybe a comic or something.
Maybe it's getting boring bc your not being creative enough go to the super flat world option in more options and create your own world.
Oh I do create many things all the time.. and that's just it... I'm bored of that.. There just needs to be more to this game than "build stuff, mine, and survive".
Why not a campaign with a story, or a 'survival mode' that's basically a constant onslaught of mobs attacking you and it's based on how long can you survive?
I mean, yeah you can do adventure maps I guess it could work.. But.. unless you go through the painstaking process of making every single thing yourself every single time it's hard.
It's not like PC where you can just go download a seed and everything is there.
Tru! Or how ppl say you create your own story. How ab we have an option in the menu to record what we do in a third person view so when we play with friends all we have to do whenever we are done is add the voices. Or talk as we play. Instead of the first person views.

I think that Minecraft is one of the few games that works better without a campaign. It's a game based purely around the raw creativity of the player, and this includes everything from what they choose to build, whether they choose to explore the worlds, and a background they give to the character.
There are thousands and thousands (millions probably) of adventure worlds which have custom made campaigns that exist on the PC version, and I'm hoping to see world sharing port across to the Xbox 360 soon too. When it does, those'll be the only campaigns the game really needs. Minecraft doesn't need a standard campaign to the main game because it would take away aspects of what the true game is really about, and it'll prevent people from being truly creative and unique with their worlds.
I think it's best to leave the campaigns to the worlds where people want to build them for others to play.
I guess.. But... Like I said in another post I made in here.. it's not like PC where you can just download a seed and everything's there and you can "get the perspective of that world's story".
Really... this thread I made... isn't realllly needed. I was just trying to.. see if it's possible to broaden the console versions. Because compared to the PC this is tunnel vision.
Since Mojang is constantly updating the game and will be adding new features in the future, I don't think an actual campaign with a story line would be a good idea. The story line would more than likely have to change with the new features that get added in order for the story line to continue to make sense. For example, if motors were added to the game (I'm pretty sure they won't though), they'd have to go back somewhere in the story line to fit those in to explain how they came about in the game which means they'd have to tweak the story line. If they did this each time a new feature was added, players would complain and ask why these features weren't added to the story line to begin with. Overall, it's an interesting idea, but I don't see it working with the way Mojang has the game set up.

To counter that in a sense...
If they did add things.. I'd say each little thing could have a mini story I suppose. Then you could mix and match however you want the 'campaign' to be.

I have an idea that builds on my idea. There should be certain items that can only be obtained from quests. One of these is something I came up with which is the venomsaber. It is a sword that causes the poison effect. It should be equal in damage to a regular stone sword but have the durability of more than a diamond sword. The poison effect should be an enchantment, but no sword you can enchant should be as good as this venomsaber.
