Just think of how incredibly far ahead the people in one gang, or even one person established in a safe underground domain, can get in those 24 hours that you are gone because of one chance encounter. There is no way to catch up. The ratio in that context is far too unbalanced.
This server is still fairly new so that ratio effect may not be so obvious to you yet, but the disparity and imbalance will grow more and more extreme. You will end up with just a couple/few large groups, with some essentially enslaving others with promises of a few benefits and that will be that. It will be almost impossible for any new individuals to succeed in any way when spawn is perma-camped and what little you may gain and try to hide will always be raided because there are so many armed raiders and people eventually just following you wherever you go (so it won't be possible to hide anything).
Just my thoughts since this Exile server is an unfolding experiment. Hopefully the feedback helps. :wink.gif:
While it is true, that when you die others have more time to get ahead, if your on a team it shouldnt really affect you overall. However like Hal said we will lower the deathban times if we feel its neccessary in the future.
Yes, this particular server is fairly new, but we have hosted a couple hardcore servers, our main one since around june. So we are well aware of the possible inbalance deathbans can cause, since this is a faster pased harcore server. I know it sucks to have to wait til the next day because I also have to wait because of my job. This server is not a test of concept. It's more of a test of what we can do in 1.0.0 so we can work on getting Pandemonium back online exactly how it use to be. There is still a lot of mob/ item tweaking to be done.
As for the spawn camping issue. There isn't really one. With the growing popularity there is a chance it will become one but like somebody said theres no real advantage to killing a newly spawned. If it does become any issue at all we can always make multiple spawn points like there was on Pandemonium.
So far raiding parties have never been an issue either. Sure there are a few teams that are capable of it right now, but the server is no where near as hard as it is intended to be. Soon moving around at night will be hard for even the better equiped teams.
Please continue to post feedback/ concerns though. They really do help out.

Anybody know if the Nether is activated on this server? Wondering if potion brewing is going to be possible...
The nether is in fact activated on this server. However, Pigzombies are hostile at all times, not only when you attack them. They will be soon anyways, we havent quite gotten all of the mobs worked out yet. Theres still a lot to do.
For blaze i would say an ore, such as gold, but super rare drop, and normally drops iron, for endermen i would say grass/melon seeds/seeds, because the endermen"picked them up"

It's clear that this is a part of an ongoing project that means a lot to you guys and that you have put a lot of work and effort into it. I respect and appreciate that and thank you for sharing it with all of us.
I have now looked through your Pandemonium thread, and Wow... What you guys have been doing, and are continuing to evolve, is absolutely incredible! I have always been a proponent on this forum of people taking this "Minecraft Engine" and bending it to their creative will. You guys are Prime examples of what happens when people do exactly that. :smile.gif:

I am adjusting the ETA to 8:00am CST. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Also, I am planning to strengthen Enderman and Blaze to make them the two strongest mobs in the game. Anyone have any suggestions for their drops?
A weird suggestion but melon seeds? They're quite helpful to obtain for food, and are extremely rare >_<
