Finally a "support" without some controversy attached.
Something else that kind of came to mind was the ability to have the spawn rate changed.
because most of the time I noticed that spawners it takes a few seconds before they spawn some more of them.
Think it'd be possible to have just a constant stream of them flowing outward? Or Slow it down? What's the stakes on some customizing these?
For a creative map? I support (at least the host) being able to change the spawn rate. I think that would be a great idea for building adventure maps and such for other players.

Yeah, it'd be a real test of how long one could really survive in an arena of some sort.
I can't think of any problems associated with having mob spawners as placeable objects in creative mode. As far as changing the spawn rate goes I think just having slow(0.5), normal(1.0) and fast(2.0) modes would be sufficient; changing them in the same way you change the delay on redstone repeaters. I can't think of a better way than using spawn eggs to change the mob of the spawner.
Yeah I can't think of anything to really change the spawn rate other than... Somehow using a repeater to change the spawner? Because your point has just three examples, and if I'm not mistaken repeaters have three as well? So it could work no?**Spider Jockey spawner*

Fully support this post! Don't care about it taking space in the creative menu, just slap it in there. They can change the size of the UI entirely or make icons smaller, no need to over complicate things. Also believe it should be creative exclusive.

Yeah that was the original idea.
Though I did throw it out there that maybe we could pick it up with a silk touch pick axe and then bring it to an enchantment table to chance getting a certain kind of spawner should it ever make it to survival.
But the support is all for Creative Mode, which is fine. There's no reason why coordinates for all spawners found can't be written down or have rail leading to them.

When you say it like that... it does make sense to be able to silk touch it in survival! I don't think a crafting recipe should be included, but I would support it in that sense as well (:
Fully support Mob spawners in creative menu just stick one for each mob type. Supposedly we're getting the ability to scroll in the creative menu anyway so menu space won't be an issue.
Also I agree that silk touch should work on Mob spawners in survival. But as for customizing them no, it should be whatever spawners spawned when you made your world. But if they feel generous enough to make a craft-able mob spawner I wouldn't be opposed to it.

Ding ding! Couldn't have said it any better. The new UI will definitely help, and I think we have the same attitude about survival. I could really see this being put in soon... (:

Yeah the original suggestion was just creative mode... But then I did start thinking... what if.. It were in survival like we mentioned above.... but in Creative... have it behavein a manner much like paintings *puts one down: skeleton* *Puts down again: Zombie*. But have it be less frustrating than paintings... Because paintings require like 500 tries to get the one you want. Lol

I know what you mean... But after seeing the way that they are changing the UI, I would think that it wouldn't be a problem to add these in. It doesn't appear that it will be in the upcoming update since there hasn't been any hinting at it, but I honestly think it will probably be in the next update or even a small one after this one. It could sneak in as a secret feature for this one, although I don't think that is likely.
I would love to see this happen but the abuse of such a block could lead to massive lag issues. It would be very hard to add spawners practically. The eggs and dispensers trick makes up for that sufficiently I think and allows for even more creativity than a spawner.

spawners probably wouldnt cause single player lag due to the spawn per chunk limit being much lower for hostile mobs than for passive
the arena i built. when we passed Pirate for a Day(the airships) we went down and there was the giant statue thingy that i built for no reason. it was right before the spiral straight up. i made the comment about the villagers i put in to run the shops mating and creating tons of other villagers. in fact there were so many villagers that spawned it caused an iron golem to spawn...the clean up was a massacre. splash potions rained for forty days and nights.....
but the cube runs on roughly 8 minutes of redstone repeaters then drops 4 sand walls about 8 blocks high give or take which is accomplished by a piston moving a block that a sign is attached to and other signs attached to that one...theres about 64 to 100 signs that drop at once. then all that sand falling at once....on single it's fine. but i havent tested in in multi.

Agreed, spawners still obey the spawning caps, so wouldn't cause adverse lag by themselves.
if youre in multiplayer everything causes lag. me and juno were playing on my world and i crashed our games with a tower of signs...
makes me question whether or not The Cube will function...lab rats, ASSEMBLE!
Cube? Lol
