The XBOX is not as powerful as the PC meaning no infinite worlds. This is fine -- sure its a bit annoying but you get used to it. This applies to the nether as well, which again is annoying but whatever. However it appears that Mojang did not minimize the ghast spawn rate to accommodate this. By this I mean that in the computer I normally see 1 ghast max at the same time, MAYBE 2. In XBOX is averages about 3 but it is not uncommon to see 5 all shooting at you. This makes the nether impossibly hard because
1: It destroys much of the nether
2: Its hard to dodge all them let alone kill the ghasts themselves
So what I am asking is they shrink the ghast spawn rate to be more appropriate. Not sure what a good rate would be but just make them way less common so the nether isn't a complete warzone. Seriously, if I don't carry a potion of fire resistance into the nether I die most of the time.

I agree that the ghast spawn rate seems pretty high and perhaps should be curbed a little.
In the meantime - A couple of things I've been doing to avoid taking unnecessary ghast damage:
I've noticed that ghast do not seem to spawn as frequently if you have a lot of cobblestone around. In one world, I built a large cobblestone platform as a base under the various legs of my nether fortress (covering a large area of the lava lake). The original intent was so that I could snipe the ghast from the fortress and not lose the tears in the lava below. However, it seems now that ghast only spawn on the lava lake beyond the edges of the platform and not right above it. As a result, I'm experience far fewer ghast attacks around my nether fortress.
When traveling around the nether, I purposely make a lot of "duck and cover" tunnels so that I can get from points a to b to c, etc. while largely staying well under cover and out of the sight of any ghasts. If they can't see you, they don't fire. I'll also fortify the entrances and exits to these tunnels with some cobblestone so that any ghast that might take a shot at me as I enter or leave a tunnel won't destroy that area.
Support, I had 36 diamonds and I died because of a ghast
I would never carry that many diamonds around with me at any time. In fact, it's really rare that I would have anything diamond on me at all if I go into the nether. When going into the nether, I tend to only carry an iron pickaxe (since you don't need diamond to mine anything inside the nether). Since the introduction of iron golems (i.e. unlimited iron), I also just change out frequently for fresh/undamaged iron armor.
I also use the Enchantment Calculator to increase my chances of getting the enchantments I want at lower levels of XP since, by using iron items instead of diamonds, I need to enchant more frequently. For example, did you know you have a 21.2% chance of getting feather falling on iron boots at Level 25 and only at 12.5% chance of getting feather falling on diamond boots at Level 30? The odds of getting Protection and Fire Protection are quite a bit lower, although the odds are pretty much always a very tiny bit better on diamond than iron (e.g. Fire Protection IV - Diamond at Level 30 is 6% and iron at Level 30 is 5.8%).

Yeah that's why I have cobblestone walkways with roofs everywhere I want to go in the nether. Most notably to blaze spawners that are blocked off for an exp farm. Typically I have rail going to them as well, for faster travel. Oh, and.. I usually just have these pathways connected strait to the portal and where ever else I need to go in there. Don't really go much further than that.
I have all of that specifically because of ghasts... There's just too many of them. And any other pathway you might have had going anywhere made of anything else other than cobblestone or netherbrick, would be vaporized because of the ghasts fire charge shots. It's very annoying.
Huh.... I haven't been to the Nether on PC yet... didn't know it was that different, I actually kind of like the Ghast Spawn rate on the XB360, it makes the Nether significantly more challenging than the main world (IMO).
I've gotten used to just knowing to prepare and deal with ghasts whenever I go there.
Honestly the only reason I haven't build cobble safe areas is because there are so many ghasts around leading to them launching so many fireballs at the area it becomes a floating island.

I haven't nearly had that much issues with ghasts that I end upon a floating island.... but I did learn a valuable lesson to always bring a lighter with me when one of their fireballs snuffed out my nether portal within seconds of entering the nether for the first time (in that world)... I just stared at it (the portal) dumbly for about 2 minutes, going, "but..... but.....that's... just.... wrong..."
But yeah... I just start with a few cobble stone pillars fairly evenly spaced around my portal, then do a grid for a ceiling.
Ghasts tend not to shoot straight level E/W or N/W or even vertically ... so it is hard for them to shoot through a cobblestone mesh... not that they don't try....
Eventually, I patch the craters and holes and the mesh, and I usually plan to dig into the nearest netherrack hill/wall to get out of my portal.
But once the Ghasts loose sight of me, they not only stop attacking, but they tend to wander off and eventually despawn to be replaced by a new MOB.
Full support. I want to see at most 2 in the entire nether at one time. I too have had times where I was overwhelmed by four ghasts all shooting at me at once. Now that is just ridiculous. I have had a beautiful, well sort of beautiful nether turned into a fiery crap hole by ghasts.

Okay, I will have to try that.

Just load it up on peaceful for a couple of hours then switch back.. it will work.

Only way I think... any kind of path you want to make will be destroyed or you'll be knocked off because of ghasts shooting you. I tried to do it many times.. But because a lot of the time it involves making floating bridges across a giant lake of lava...
I agree it's cheep a bit.. But.. The main reason is I don't want it taking a week to make when I could do it in 2 hours or less o peaceful.
I am fine with how it is, the only reason that I would like this to get implemented is because... GHASTS ARE SO "#"#$%" ANNOYING!!! Seriously, when you hear a ghast for a long time it becomes irritating, but when you hear 4 or 5 at the same time for a loooooooooong time... oh man
Only way I think... any kind of path you want to make will be destroyed or you'll be knocked off because of ghasts shooting you. I tried to do it many times.. But because a lot of the time it involves making floating bridges across a giant lake of lava...
Ehh... I don't seem to have too many problems with that... I just remember to build walls around my paths out over lava. cobblestone is in abundance and doesn't get destroyed due to ghast fireballs, and as long as you have at least a 1-2 block wall on either side of you, it is very difficult for the ghast to knock you off your bridge, and their fireballs don't really do that much damage individually.
My BIGGEST problem with Ghasts, I have to admit, is trying to harvest glowstone. Invariably, a large portion of glowstone would be available directly over a sea of lava... which makes it difficult to gather in the first place, but more so when ghast fireballs keep blowing it up and into the lave before you can build a platform to catch them.
Used to really me off before Blazes were introduced, because glowstone was a limited resource prior to that point.
Now.. I just make sure I take an enchanted bow with me, and if any ghast is truly annoying me, I kill it. If not, I wait until they are over ground that I can get too... or try to lure them to ground I can get to before killing them to collect their drops. remember, the more ghasts you kill, the less likely that a new ghast will spawn to replace it, and with a max MOB spawn cap in an area, you can work that to your advantage.
I also bring a few stack of cobble with me, and when they start to crater the ground around me, I just patch it with cobblestone, it looks kind of patchwork when you get done, but becomes far more ghast resistant in the future as you go...and carpeting the whole ground in cobble just takes too much time.

Why were you carrying Diamonds in the Nether in the first place?
Eh, I can agree with it. I've been on the PC a lot more and have 5 Ghast Tears...and I have 2.5 stacks of them in my 360 world....
Stay fluffy~
