Ok, since we have a way to keep track of Minecraft days, we should have seasons to go along with it. The moon has 8 parts to the cycle, so from full moon to full moon would be 8 Minecraft days. Since 1 lunar cycle in real life is about a month, 8 Minecraft days could be counted as 1 Minecraft month. Seasons in real life last about 3 months, so a season in Minecraft would last 3 Minecraft months or 24 Minecraft days. Now that we've got the timing figured out, let's move on to what each season entails.
Spring: New worlds will start in this season. Plants in general grow faster in this season, and there is more rain. More flowers may also grow spontaneously on grass blocks...
Summer: This season will have more thunderstorms, and possibly, during the day, small grass fires could be started in plains biomes
Autumn: Leaves change colors and maybe drop (I think it would be cool if after dropping they changed the color of the grass blocks below them)
Winter: It snows in all the biomes where it wouldn't melt. For example, in plains and forests, it would snow and the water would freeze, but in deserts and jungles, quite possibly swamps, there'd be no snow.
Of course, there would be an option for seasons that could be disabled if you did not want these. But anyway let me know what you guys think!
An interesting concept indeed, but I would not like to see random weeds growing in places where I have either cleaned of weeds or have made myself (such as my underground home).
I personally would keep it off, but that's just me....

I like the idea. Would def be worth a look at, though as stated above I wouldnt want flowers popping up in my farms and clean areas.
Ok, we don't have to make flowers grow, I was just coming up with possible ideas for season features. Maybe a better idea would be to increase the chances of getting flowers when you use bone meal on grass during the spring?
I like this idea. A good tweak would be to increase the chances of getting apples during autumn, like in real life. A downside of this system is, while it's on, it basically wrecks the biomes of the game. I personally like the idea in general, but I hate the idea for more rain in spring. I HATE the rain in this game. It's annoyingly... well... annoying. The sound drives me nuts, it causes my game to lag, and my dog gets struck by lightning.

I agree. While mining earlier today, I heard a thunderclap and nearly s*** myself. In fact, it happened multiple times. I was way underground!
Anyway, the idea is nice, but I'm not so keen on the falling leaves. Most trees in Minecraft are trunks covered in leaves -- no branches. It would look rather stupid with a bunch of bare trunks everywhere.

I understand, I guess what I was getting at is that during the spring, the times that it rains is just rain, whereas in the summer the times that it rains is a thunderstorm. Makes it more characteristic of the season (or at least where I live).

That sounds more like something I could agree with. The strange thing is, I absolutely LOVE rain in real life.

I totally know what you mean, lol. The first time I heard thunder in this game, I had absolutely no idea what it was, and I started looking around frantically, looking for a creeper. The next time it happened, I actually saw the bolt. I hid under a tree...

I had a thunderstorm once when I was home alone using surround sound. I had to stop playing and go see if something had fallen over!
That said, I do like this idea (minus the thunderstorms). I wouldn't particularly care if it interferes with certain biomes, since my friend ended up building a small fishing village near what ended up being a snow biome.
