Personally I dont see why people need a change of view in game. POV should be outside of the controller and on a menu. Seriously, how many people change the view compared to how many people run/walk. The left stick should be used for the run/walk mode. It would be much easier than the double up.

Some people prefer to play in different POV modes. Not only that, but that function is also in the PC version, so they can't just scrap it. I think to make everyone happy, a feature to enable players to choose their custom controller configuration would be best.
I get hit by this every so often, and it annoys me too. I'd like the option to disable or change that setting.
To people saying it doesn't happen to them ... good for you! Why are you here then? Go away!
To others saying "lrn to self-control" obviously you've never dealt with user interface design before. If something causes a mistake to happen often, then it's something that deserves to be looked at.
And yes, FFS, we know it's 4J not Mojang. Or rather, it's both. So you don't need to post that, again, like the other 20 people who already have. lrn to reed repliez?
I've never had this problem before. Though I have had an issue where I went very dyslexic with the controls after playing oblivion for quite some time. I did the same for oblivion when I started to play it again after playing MC all the time.
But I never really notice the toggle for that. Only time I ever press down on it is when I want to view in 3rd person. On any cod game though I'd push the stick forward twice. Haha. So I then realize that I am not going faster.
We were never able to customize controls and we loved every bit of it.
Stop blaming developers for your shoddy dexterity and take responsibility for your actions.
Comparing the Nintendo game pad to the hamburger that is the Xbox controller is inane.
Double clicking the analog stick on the Xbox controller sometimes will throw me into 3rd person view. It's not about shoddy dexterity I play a lot of platform style games and never have an issue. My husband watches me make jumps in Minecraft that he won't even attempt. Yet...
Every so often when trying to sprint...there's 3rd person view screwing up my mojo.
Maybe your controller isn't as sensitive, or you just don't play enough to have worn it down.

exactly what im thinking

I personally like it the way it is have I accidentally hit the left stick to change my POV yeah but it really never happened that often to me the best and only way the make every one happy is to just make a control layout that just moves the camera mode button but none the less I still find it rather silly to be complaining about a button and more options would be better who doesn't love more options its just the fact that they would have to take time away from working on the next update because some people don't like what a button does
I don't have a problem with this. I like how it is easily accessible so I can quickly check my surroundings
Lucky you! Both of my sticks are older and pretty loose. It happens when I get startled or trying to double click to run. IMHO It needs to be on the d-pad, not the joystick.

Not to mention that at least that controller didn't have a button right where they screw is... Of course it was easy to use... Sticks were not around on that system yet. Although you are wrong about 1 thing, there was customization, just not within game. It was alternate controllers. Albeit a different company, but those turbo controllers you hear about.
I am not complaining about the POV itself, as I know many whom use that function. I personally would rather have it somewhere else on the controller that I don't use at all. D-pad, which just so happens to be displayed in that pic, well the ancestor of one anyway...lol
What I am saying is like someone else mentioned just have the default as it is now, but also have a control scheme that only switches that one to the D-pad. I mean they have 3 total schemes to choose from, the default A, B, and C. The B & C layouts do not make much sense to me. Either just changing one of those extra 2, or adding a new layout would at least be feasible. So I don't see why not, it is after all just another Option beyond the Default.:D

I use to do that with certain games just to have an advantage or was easier to do certain things, mainly in some of the fighter games... Of course that was way back before those games go alpha like street fight or some others... Not really fond of those type anymore except for a few of them... Other than that if they gave the option to switch within game i would fiddle around with it for my own comfort, but if not I just used the default. Sometimes that would set me off the game a while if it was something that annoyed me enough...lol Not often...:D

Yeah, I play on hard all the time. I get startled by a creeper, then I get tense and push harder on the buttons, and it kills me every time. This belongs on the D-pad, not the left stick.
i dont see why it bugs people so much. putting it on the D-pad would suk. using POV comes in handy if your a catious person or your not nooc and you know to keep an eye on your back
EDIT:*noob

I don't see why moving the control to the D-pad would be such a bad idea.
When flying you have the right joystick for lateral movement, and the up down on the d-pad for vertical movement. The right and left of the Dpad could cycle through the POV without causing much issue.
Where as to click the left joystick for sprint would be a much better choice than double tapping it which 1/2 the time switches my POV when I really don't want it.
See when you play your xBox A LOT the controller gets worn out and the double tap turns into a full click.

the problem with the d-pad is there isnt a need for the d-pad besides going through inventory. why make the game more complicated when its good how it is

On the default setting, your d-pad does nothing in survival. In creative it is used for flight movement. You're apparently using layout 2, which is an optional layout.
Why if you are using an optional layout are you so against having another option?
