Well iif youre getting your ice from creative why not just blow the nether to smithereens or fly around placing lava or half slabs in creative... Morons...
Maybe that is why I don't read every post.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I see your thread and I raise you the exact same thread.

Your attempt at an insult here just further proves your ignorance in relation to reading posts. If you actually read them you would see where it is said to "bend the rules of survival"
To elaborate on that I suggested using a diamond pick with silk touch on it and use it to break ice blocks (which would give you ice if we had this feature) I suggested counting all the blocks he broke and then give himself that amount in creative (just like if we had ice/silk touch capability.) If you read the posts you would have seen this.
Seriously though, you should grow up and learn to accept criticism. Coming onto this thread and calling people morons, because your too ignorant/arrogant to read the posts on it is laughable. IMO your right up there in regards with things wrong with the forum, sharing a spot with people posting questions that have been asked a million times, who post a thread instead of using the search bar. Regardless of all this OP has already stated his plan of attack on the zombie farm.
Looks like this is the good place for a few of my questions. Please help me with some issues I'd like to confirm (couldn't find the answers on forum so far):
1) Is it possible to build a zombie pigmen farm in Overlord/Survival? I've spent some time to biuld one with nether portals (over 100 portals on the grid) but none of ZP appeared. Do they spawn near nether portals in regular world at all? If so, what is the probability?
2) If such a farm is possible only in Nether, what is the most efficient way to design it? Maybe someone could give me youtube tutorial link for it? I'm generally interested to collect big amount of ZP to kill them by myself with looting. Grinder is not necessary for me.
Thanks in advance...
Currently it's not possible to build an Overworld zombie pigman farm using portals. Zombie pigmen spawning in the overworld is something that was added at a later version on the PC than we have. Sucks I know.
As for a design, I'm sure someone around here can answer that better than I can. It's one of the few things I have not built yet.:)

Thanks - at least I'm sure I've wasted 3 days of pouring lava with water :/
I'll try to figure out my own design then
Would be much easier for me if I knew some things though:
1) Is it possible to force ZPs to enter the portal in Nether so they apear in Overworld? Pistons maybe?
2) Do they suffer damage landing in flowing lava? What height is safe?
3) I've read as well things about putting a lot of slabs on the floor in the ZP collector in Nether. What is the purpose?
And finally:
4) Is there an easy way to find out what facts on MCWiki apply to PC only, so I'm not wasting another 3 days to biuld a not usable crap on my XBOX? Some articles have a section XBOX, but it is not too often...

Unlikely and Irrelevant, unless you plan on playing in MP mode and having someone on each side of the portal to keep both worlds actively updating MOB spawning and movement, I don't see how this would help your MOB farm out, even if you can send a ZP through a portal... which I doubt would work anyway as I don't believe it is coded that way for NPC MOBs.
2) Do they suffer damage landing in flowing lava? What height is safe?
Unlikely, I've build fireplaces and had them sitting in the burning flames, just happy as clams. They are immune to fire, so I don't believe lava hurts them.

MOBs tend not to spawn on top of transparent blocks like slabs... by the strategic placement of half blocks like slabs, you can control where MOBs can or cannot spawn around you.

Tricky... you have to keep in mind that the console version is roughly equivalent to PC version 1.2, so anything that is new to the PC after version 1.2.3 may not be implemented on the console yet, and somethings, may never be implemented.
Wiki content IS, however, updated by users. So if you create your own user account and find out something, you can post a blurb about it in the wiki to help keep the content current and inclusive to all platforms... such as, you could add a console note at the bottom of a page that talks about ZP spawning around NP's in the over world that this feature has not been implemented on Consoles as of yet.

Clear enough I'm just a lazy boy, and thought of having ZPs to kill few steps from a bed

Ok - does it mean that if we have a defined area AxB fields, and some of this area is occupied by slabs (or any transparent blocks) the spawning rate for the rest of area is higher? Or just in the slab area they don't spawn at all - and it has no influence on rate of the rest of area?

Thanks for claryfing - didn't know the console is close to 1.2 version. This might help for sure. I was thinking about editing existing articles acc to differences in console version - but surely not in the close future - my knowlegde is too small for that so far
I know this might be a bit random but have you seen the gold farm that Docm77 has built on his Minecraft world tour, now that is how you make a gold farm, also Etho has a pretty unique gold farm aswel.
I guess there's no harm in slabbing the nether though as this will help with wither skeleton spawns later on when we get them, not to mention it will increase your blaze farm efficiency too.
Good to know - I'll try to find them and watch what they did. Are there plans to put wither skeletons on the console? Didn't see it it any official info. Is there any better source of official info than tweeter?
And here again slab subject I haven't started to study blaze farm subject so far - I found 2 spawners of blaze close to themself and looks like I have collected rods for the rest od the game I'll keep in mind it for the future though - thank You.

There is a limit to the amount of MOB's that can spawn in an area (out to around 128 blocks around you). The Slabs really don't change the rate of spawn so much as they help to control the areas of spawning. Although, technical, it just defines an area that they don't spawn in, this is usually a neglegbile impact on the rate of spawning within the defined allowed spawn area, since the system will keep trying on each spawn cycle (once every game tick or every 1/20th of a second), it usually will quickly overcome this.... unless your allowed spawn area is really..really small (like less than a dozen blocks or so).
It can also help control the type of spawn (i.e, you might see more Ghast spawning in the air since there is less available spawn space on the ground... many MOB spawners have 3x3 spawning platforms with a slab covering the middle block... this is to prevent spiders from spawning since they need a 2x2 area to spawn in).
