Okay, I've been reading around forums and the wiki and from 4j studios that minecraft for the Xbox will eventually catch up to the present version of the Pc. But my question is, simply how could it? I love minecraft and even more so on Xbox simply because of the controls. It is a much more compact and simplistic form of controlling the game, but the Xbox controler is limited to , Lt, Rt, Lb, Rb, A,B,X,Y, left and right joysticks, And the D pad. which is small in the number of controls the PC keyboard has. So I'm wondering how will you sprint? How will you fly how will you be able to have mods, change the difficulty in game. I'm just questioning how will the Xbox catch up with the whole array of controls and content that the PC implements. Can anyone answer me some questions I know A lot of Xbox minecrafters are wondering?
Sprint will be toggled on the left stick. I assume flying will be started with double tapping jump(like I think it is on the PC). Changing difficulty could just be a slider in the start menu, though I think they said they would need to work on this as if they implemented it now it would mess with the leaderboards.
I doubt it will ever catch up to the current PC version, due to the PC version having a large headstart.
I don't find that true at all. Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition is getting the Adventure Update pretty soon.
I really wish this wasn't going to happen, I don't know why. I just wish that Minecraft was JUST for the PC.

My girlfriend broke up with me 'cuz I make too many Linkin Park references. But in the end, it doesn't even matter.

I am curious about that too. All I can say is that being a person who never plays games on the PC, I am very pleased with Minecraft on the XBOX. Basic Beta version or not, I've already got a ton of enjoyment and gameplay out of my $20. And I definitely look forward to the future updates since I'm already enjoying the earlier version of the game.
Flying can be used with a Dpad, or double tapping jump.
Sprinting is going to be the left stick and 3rd person is being moved to the Dpad
Changing difficulty can be done now, just not mid-game atm (all because of the stupid, pointless, stupid leaderboards)
Anway, catching up to PC will take a lot of work on 4Js part, however Beta 1.8 and 1.2.3 will be big humps to get over. I think 1.8 more so than 1.2.3
.... minecraft for the Xbox will eventually catch up to the present version of the Pc
The two key part is "present version".
4J has never said what's going to happen to the xbox version after 1.2.3.
For all we know (like we know) their contract said, at signing, that they will start the xbox off at wherever the PC one is then (1.6), and bring it up to whatever the PC version currently is at xbox's launch (1.2). After that, the xbox version is on it's own and can go it's own way. It may follow the PC, it may not. We already know it's gonna have it's own "exclusive content". Also, it's possible that the xbox just can't do all the things the PC version can... but the PC can't do all the things the xbox can. (For instance, can the PC version run at 30 fps on every PC?)
I still think, in the future, (like maybe a year) we won't be asking "Will the xbox ever have all the features the PC has?"
The big question will be "Will the PC ever have all the features the xbox has?"
Control devices are not the biggest issue by a long shot. The limited memory is a much greater problem. I doubt this version will ever have "infinite" (no such thing ever made by man, really) game worlds. Another problem is the method that is being used so far to update Minecraft on the Xbox. Patches are of the limited variety that goes into the cache. I think the size limit on those is a paltry 4 MB. That's fine for simple bugfixes, but not at all for major expansions. Those hopefully will come along in the form of DLC, or proper patch files that you can actually see in the game's directory, like Skyrim's or Forza 4's.

What's wrong with having Minecraft on the Xbox?
