So the tip is: go more than 24 blocks away from the room (or more accurately the slime chunk outer edge limit if your room isn't the entire chunk) and WAIT. Wait a long time if necessary. My problem apparently was that by going all the way back to the surface via my ladder, it was too many blocks away. The tip I read mentioned not to go more than 32 blocks away. I'm not sure that's accurate, but waiting at about 27 blocks away did the trick for me.
Edit:
Heres the thing, mobs wont spawn within a 24 block radius.
Mobs dont despawn within a 32 block radius.
From 32 to 128 block radius mobs will randomly despawn (also dont move)
Mobs will start despawning immediately at 128 blocks away from the player.
can someone tell me what the slime cordinates are for the world seed generator 10110101. the website wont load for me. thanks!
There would be many chunks to type out. Different if you were searching around specific coordinates rather than a whole map.
You could try a different browser.

Here are some chunk coordinates that are grouped together tightly so you should get a big chance of spawning them if you strip mine rooms for large spawning areas:
These coordinates are all (X,z) btw
48,64 to 64,80; 64,64 to 80,80; 64,80 to 80,96
That forms a nice upside-down L area in which slimes can spawn. Then there's a 3-chunk long area spanning north-south from 0,224 to 16, 272
Those are two areas to get started in, hope that helps and good luck!
anyone gor co-ordinates to Glacier seeds close to where you first spawn as i have looked but pc version must have diffrent to xbox as i went to exact spot on video and still nothing two days or running back to house and back to spawn point on hard ..
Not sure where the common spawn point is on Glacier, but there's a nice three chunk long area running north-south from -16,-144 to 0, -96
They spawn in all those layers, so its possible to make multiple floors for increased chances of more slimes spawning.
Just make sure they're 3 blocks highs unless you dont want big slimes.
@Evildog
Not sure what you mean by the wall being outside, if you're referring to slimes getting stuck in walls, it does say in my first post that the big slimes are 2.4 blocks (width/height) so a 3 block space is need for them to spawn and stay. If you have 2 high/wide space big ones will spawn but be suffocated into medium slimes because of being glitched into a wall
With in your slime spawn room if you use glow stone on the floor like I did keep it two to three blocks away from the wall all the way around if you dont it will reduce your results, I found this out the hard way and with the of help GOESTR 760 we fixed this slimes for some resaon do not spwn well on the glow stone in the current version.
if you see slimes in you sliime spawner half in and half out of your spawner room you need to push back the room.
If you see black things half in and half out of your spawn room it is slimes in lava behind the walll save and exit and go fix the problem.
The lava will be above your floor on the other side of the wall I use gravel to push back lava it works great and can be recovered after use.
The tool that Rocky made works great, I am not sure if it was intended for xbox as when you nudge the tool it will continue past the the xbox map, stay in the x, z -320 x, z 320 and you will be good
good video if you have the pc version alot of people here asking right now have the Xbox version
The only part you can't do yet is the piston, but all you gotta do instead is dig a drop under where the slimes come out and they'll fall to their death. I made the whole thing myself on xbox and it works wonderfully, though I did make a few slight modifications to make it even better. I'd make a video of my tweaked version but sadly I don't have a capture card.

I made a water column in the room and they hop to their death and I collect the balls of slime.
It is a good video though I did watch it, all though with a laptop I can go swimming or throw out a secound floor window and still use it you cant hear the audio to well.

Use Fire Fox and you will get a grid and green chunks IE 9 will not load the tool correctly for some reason, I had the same problem once I use this I was able to see what ever I needed to do
I also built a house 30 blocks over the spawner to keep form running back and forth from the house to the spawner.
This does help alot in this matter as well,
I made an edit an now I have two posts of the same thing dont know what happen

Same here. I just made a double walled room with a pressure plate in front of the door. Also managed to add a pressure plate where they drop so I have an alarm that lets me know when there's slime in that room. Go in clean them up and reset the alarm. So far I've killed 1828 slimes on normal with even making any effort.
Example of what I'm talking about at 0:55 sec
I think it's better to have a harvest room of 3x3 then 1x1. But be sure to make it double walled.

Hey hamstersplat are you having any better luck or do you need any help
I can confirm that small slimes can spawn on peaceful. It just happpened to me, I was a bit taken aback, I thought it was a zombie at first because all I saw was what ooked like a little cube head bobbing up and down behind some gravel.

And how did you confirm this? On peaceful, finding slime, and knowing it spawned are very different. Since slime do not despawn when you switch levels.
To "confirm" this you would;
Start a new map on peaceful. Play ONLY on peaceful and if found slime, I'd say that's confirmation. Any other situation is speculation.
Edit: I have the slime co's for my map seed. I will quickly test this to put this issue to rest.

That's exactly what I did, actually. I have a 'creative' map that I play exclusively on peaceful so that i can ensure that I never lose resources to monsters. The only times I've ever put my map on anything higher than peaceful was to use a mob grinder I had built. The mob grinder was on the complete opposite side of the world from where I found the slime (waaay too far away for a slime to spawn) and I only had the game on normal in the vicinity of the mob grinder, once I was done collecting, I put the game back on peaceful before heading back to store my loot.
So I can promise you that the slime spawned on peaceful.
Since you changed the level to build your mob grinder (why have one if you always play on peaceful?)
Slime spawned. You have nulled the conditions.
I don't doubt you can find slime on peaceful.
BUT, you have to have been on a level higher at some point to get them to spawn on those levels.
Finding and spawning are different. Do you understand? Since slime does no despawn, unless you only "ever" play on peaceful you cann't confirm this.
I know it's nit picking, but this is Slime 101, the OP and myself included want accurate info.
You can, spawn slime at a regular mode, and it will still be there in peaceful. But if you only play peaceful you'll never see'em.
If you bounce back and forth(play peace then regular), know that slime will only potentially spawn during regular mode, reducing your chances of finding slime.
I am 99% sure of this. I spending the time on peaceful just to claim the other 1% I'm ranked 200 in kills normal. Just from harvesting roughly 1500 slimes. I don't care about leaderboards, but trust me mate, I'm slimey.

Still can make it in the xbox minus the piston. Which you could add in about a week
I think Ill be posting something in here when pistons come out. Some sort of tutorial.
