I have an idea as to how the Nether could be incorporated into Minecraft Pocket Edition!
I know the new dev Johann reads this so hopefully he will consider
How about a separate app? It won't have all of the items that PE has (for better performance) and you spawn in the normal world (the normal world will be 50x50 for better performance, too). You start off with an unlimited supply of obsidian and a flint and steel. The Nether portal will be a 150x150 world (So the game can be tricked into running normally with the two worlds, with the world dimensions combined it makes 200x200) The Nether will have Ghasts and Zombie Pigmen. You can enter and exit when needed. To make the game work even better there will be no Wifi connectivity or Creative mode.
But as a proposal, normal Pocket Edition should be updated more than Pocket Edition: Nether.
How does it sound?

Hmm...Nah, I think nether should be a whole seperate world that is hidden from the worlds selection. So its a new saved world that links to your normal world that has a nether portal.

I was thinking about Add the nether when making a new world
example:
Making new World
Mode:Survival,Creative or Nether
But i heard it was a crap idea because how you will get wood and other materials to survive lol
Or, use a zip compression system so when you go through the nether portal the normal world gets compressed to 200kb and the nether world gets unzipped and up to 20mb and vice versa going back through so worlds still stay at 21mb and you have a nether and normal world
I was thinking that when a map is generated, the maps aren't just 180 blocks tall, but 360 blocks tall with a nether map right under it with a layer of bedrock in between. Then when you go through a nether portal, you just teleport a few hundred blocks down.

This seems like a good idea instead of making a complete new world why not add too bad it might cause the game too lag
That just wouldn't work, if the nether were implemented it'd have to be implemented the way it was in the desktop version simply because of how they two dimensions interact.

No it wouldn't, this is pocket edition, they can make any changes they want

This seems like a great idea and could work since it would just create a new world and compress the other so no lag

Finally someone notices my idea! Lol but it wouldn't create a new world then compress, it would have to compress one world, then open the world you're going into or else there would be a small point where the map file is 40mb and we want to save space the entire time.

Lol. Sorry I meant to say that its a bit difficult doing this from my ipod
In this case it does. What about cross platform compatibility? If they used this method McEdit wouldn't be able to use either world files, and it's completely unreasonable to make a whole new app just for the nether.

I know it's very unreasonable, it wasn't even my idea, my idea is tons better, just saying that they can do whatever they want

I completely skimmed over your idea!
I like it a lot too! The think that made me avoid reading the post is that there is no profile image. I tend to skip over posts from people with no profile image because those tend to be more on the n00by side

I'm doing it on my iPad so much better than on the iPod.
Well good for you
If they want it to work in a different way, but I thought the goal was to make different platforms similar. The method above in nowhere near similar.
Similar doesn't mean exactly the same does it?
