Can you please add a FAQ saying that Mojang will not be updating the old launcher? I've found many users who have broken the launcher while trying to, say, write in a custom version and are "waiting for Jeb to update the old launcher".
I can't play offline at all any more, the new launcher appears to be broken.
I am on version 1.2.1 of the launcher. The Play Offline option is available and do not require re-authentication anymore if you do not have an internet connection.

Thanks, will do. But I posted in here because the offline mode has broken with the introduction of the new launcher. I just got sidetracked with the point that there shouldn't be an offline mode to break when the game is supposedly DRM-free. Anyway, I'll take the DRM discussion to that thread and continue with the on topic issue here:
I can't play offline at all any more, the new launcher appears to be broken.
EDIT: Are you seriously suggesting I necro a thread that hasn't been posted in for over 2 years?
My appologies, I missed the last post date on that one. However, the subject of DRM in the launcher is being discussed there, not here, and it looks like others have posted to it today.
Again, my apologies for pointing to an old thread. In my defense, it was a thread that was specifically about DRM in MC and it was midnight when I replied.

Why is it that when i try to join a sever it connects me but then minecraft force closes giving me the Java(TM) platform SE Binary has stoped working error. Any help to resolve this error
I have a problem with the new launcher. When I stop playing, the launcher disappears from my computer, and I can't keep it on my computer. Does anybody have a solution
My problem:When i start my launcher says this "unable to download remote file. check your internet connection/proxy". Then when the launcher says i cant connect to the minecraft servers and wont let me play minecraft.
My problem:When i start my launcher says this "unable to download remote file. check your internet connection/proxy". Then when the launcher says i cant connect to the minecraft servers and wont let me play minecraft.
This may be due to a fire wall blocking the launcher from going to a website or a host. You should check your internet to see if any firewalls are set in place.
I am unsure if this is the place to post this, but I am having problems with the launcher. Out of nowhere it is ignoring my use of the java arguments built into the profile editor. In the JVM Arguments, I have put -Xmx10G, I have 16gbs of RAM, and yet when I bring up F3 in game, it is only allocating 455MB. I have gotten it to allocate the proper amount before, it has just started to randomly ignore it.
Here is the crash report from after 1 time I actually got it to load with the right RAM, and was able to select my resource pack of choice:

I play SP minecraft both at home and at work during lunchtimes (1.6.2), and i shuttle my game save between the two, but since the new launcher, whenever i play on one machine (at home for example), when i then play on the other machine at work later on, it says i'm already logged in; do i want to play with this player <my username> - which is correct, so i hit the play button but it says it cant log me in; i have to re-enter my email address and password, which i do, it then lets me play normally as before, but when i go back to my home machine i have the same issue again, ad infinitum. Its seems to suggest when i finish playing my game either at work or home, i need to logout at the end of the session - is this right? The old launcher i just logged in automatically regardless of whether i was at home or work ...
I just came back to MC after several months. Knowing that the game was updated with new launcher and all, I just decided to delete everything, launcher and .minecraft appdata files, update java, and download the new launcher. However, upon running the new launcher, it skips the interface and immediately asks me to log in, and then proceeds to tell me that "sorry, we are unable to connect to our servers right now". Did I miss something vital, or is it just the infinitely buggy client?

it's a security reason. it will not allow 2 different computers to be logged in at the same time.
