Hi, I've been hosting a server for a good amount of time now, and the IP to it FREQUENTLY changes, so there is a lot of incompleted builds all over the map, so I reset it... But I'm wondering if there is any way to prevent my IP from changing? Like, I have gone into that thing on the Control Panel, but for some reason if my Internet goes down, my IP still changes, and if I turn my compter off, I think those changes reset, and I don't want to have to change it every time. So, is it possible I could get a permanent IP for free? I've tried before but I just simply do not understand.
Either talk to your ISP about getting a static IP or you can set up a No-IP address and use their Dynamic DNS Update Client: http://www.no-ip.com/downloads.php

I've already tried this.... But I don't quite understand how to use it? Sorry! D:
Step 1. You will get to choose a url ie. "www.Jhwx.no-ip.com" you use that as your ip address.
Step 2. you download the update client and it will automatically keep "www.jhwx.no-ip.com" point to your forever changing ip address.
what is it that you do not understand?
Didn't work.... If i tell people to connect to that IP, it doesnt work, and if I change the Config files to that IP, it doesnt work... I'm using bukkit and my PC isnt directly connected to the Internet Modem if that helps

you dont change the IP in your config file to anything. leave it blank. if its not connected to the modem you have to set up port forwarding. the main thing is downloading their IP update client and setting that up correctly.
