My computer died and I had to replace my motherboard. Every thing works fine but minecraft. I can play it in a browser but not when I open it off of the desktop. My antivirus and firewall are not blocking them.I can play from the desktop only when i chose to play offline. Any Ideas?

some possible solutions
1:mods can cause instant crashes if not installed right
2:if its a 64 bit computer then 32 bit java will crash often
3:ever tried reinstalling it?(b4 doing this, backup your worlds y copying them into a new folder as backups)

doesn't sound like they're suffering from crashes to me.
Sounds more like they can't connect to minecraft.net
Ahhh, I had the same problem too! Only my power went out causing me to have to turn it back on. I couldn't connect to minecraft.net when trying to log in. It would reject me almost instantly. All's you have to do is disconnect from the internet. If its a laptop (which i doubt) simply disconnect from wi-fi and reconnect. If its a CPU disconnect from internet in Network in Sharing center. Then reconnect. If you can't figure out how to connect( i couldnt) i pushed trouble shooting and it said one of your networks is disconnected, just push that. Hope this helps!

Set it a few weeks back or so. It seems to fix the problem for a lot of people.
