Hey all. I have spent the past week working on a fairly sizable home in Minecraft. I'm pretty satisfied with the results, and would like to know what you think of it.
The basic idea was to dig a courtyard into the earth and then dig rooms into the walls. Here's how it ended up:
I will go over each part of the complex.
Bottom Floor
----------------
There are 4 main rooms on the bottom floor, as well as the entrance to my mine and a tunnel which acts as a secondary exit to the complex (the primary being accessible from the second floor).
On one side of the courtyard is the entrance to the main living quarters, which are divided into a living room, a kitchen, and a bedroom:
Opposite the living quarters, there are 3 additional rooms:
There rooms are, from left to right, the forge, the store room, and the laboratory.
The forge and store room are fairly standard.
The forge:
The store room:
The laboratory:
I decided to give the laboratory a more mysterious and secretive aesthetic, so I built a basement level for it.
The lab is for enchanting and potion-making.
There is a door in the lab which leads to a passage to the nether portal.
The cavernous passage to the nether portal is intended to create more atmosphere.
Not only does the security add to the atmosphere, it also keeps the zombie pigmen from wandering too far.
The mine is accessible at one end of the courtyard:
First time I've made a mine of this style. Tedious, but very orderly once it's done.
The exit tunnel:
The other end of the tunnel:
The top floor
------------------------
The second floor contains a wheat farm and a gallery, as well as the main exit to the complex.
The stairs to the second floor:
Wheat farm:
Gallery (still a bit of a work in progress):
Bridge (not all that significant but still I feel is a nice addition):
The complex can be exited via either of two ladders at the basin end of the courtyard:
And here are some views of the complex from outside:
Let me know what you think of my construction. Constructive criticism is welcome.
And for two and a half thousand years, the ring passed out of all knowledge... Rumor turned into myth... myth turned into legend, and legend gave rumor and myth amiss, and went straight into autumn. ...Wait, what?

100% legit survival, normal difficulty.
