Welcome, everyone! This is my Shipyard, a humble place that attempts to compare to people like Sillouette and ConfuseACat. This is where I flaunt my ships for your entertainment!

HMS Surprise-18th Century Frigate-The HMS Surprise was a ship from the Captain Jack Aubrey books, written by Patrick O'Brien. The frigate was standard of the time and I did my best to make her realistic.
The video from MrBeasty:
Old
Endeavour-Massive 140 Gun First Rate-The Endeavour is the second model of my first rate Endeavour, armed with way too many guns and able to blast someone clean out of the water. She is not entirely complete, yet. All pictures and video are courtesy of MrBeasty127's skill at Cinema4D: A little bit of history:
First Rates were a class of Ship-of-the-Line, a ship that is designed to line up with ships of a similar gun count and fire on the enemy line. First Rates were equipped with an average of 100 guns and over 800 crewmen, including over 100 Marines.
Because of the expense and power of these ships, only a few were in work at one time. They served as flagships and would normally stay within signalling distance of the fleet so that the admiral on board can direct the battle. A famous First Rate is HMS Victory, docked in Portsmouth now.
Night's Servant-Large Fantasy Pirate ship-The Servant is a large ship with lots of fantasy elements. She has the same amount of guns as Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge, a total of 40 guns. Pictures and video are courtesy of MrBeasty127. Looming out of the darkness, the Night's Servant cuts a sinister figure, her lanterns trailing behind her tattered red sails, flames kindled in the huge stern light visible at any time of night. Her forty guns have cost the souls of those aboard many a ship, and the surrender of countless more.
The Santa Maria-Explorer The Santa Maria was Christopher Columbus' ship, which sailed on a course to find Asia but stumbled into the Americas. Pictures are courtesy of MrBeasty127

Providence-Trading/Privateer-The Providence is a large, three-masted trader that can be stripped out and used as a privateer. She is my favorite ship, due to her feel above and belowdecks.Banner courtesy of MrBeasty127

She carries 110 guns and three Great Cabins.More Pictures: Sailor's Salvation-Small Pirate Vessel-This small ship was built for a guide on proper pirate ships, which were not big vessels. She carries twelve guns, no bow cannons or deck cannons.More Pictures:

I've also started building a ridiculously large First Rate:
In that picture you see the stern, an almost exact copy of the 'Better Stern' thread. It took a beam (max width of ship) of 21 blocks just to get the stern to size. I also added those frilly little half-balconies that are impossible to get to.
Original balcony design:

That's a nice stern you have there. Much better than the first ships you posted! By the way, as for the hull curvature at the bottom, try not to make it look like a V. Make it wider than it is at the top as it helps for buoyancy. This is how I do it, http://i.imgur.com/vBHJA.jpg .

Ah, there's a good way. Do you have a design for a 21-block beam?

Update:
The new Endeavour (Fifth version of Endeavour ever built XD) now has a bit of her side and some of her gun ports:
I must say, it's very fun building at a larger scale, I can stuff more things into the decks, like 6-block cannons that can be used with the cannon plugin.

Well I don't exactly have it for a 21 long beam, but I find the framing way a very helpful guide when building ships. Basically it's the traditional way of how they used to build ships in the past. I do something like this http://i.imgur.com/UI6hr.jpg . Notice how as the frames get closer to the bow or stern, their radius decrease and change to adjust to the curvy hull of the ship. You can try this method and see if it works for you.
And you said it was fun building at a larger scale. I agree, hence why I am building at a bigger scale these days. I find that if someone wants to make a realistic looking ship in minecraft, they have to go a bit bigger for it to look like so.

I don't frame my ships with ribs, I just build the hull in sections, like the design is from above.

I like to think I'm doing a decent job at Steve-scale
But yeah, increasing scale is very tempting, even if it's only for a one-off huge build.

You do a great job on the steve scale, but I mean, if someone wants to add details such as balconies, more accurate rigging, bows and stern, the Steve scale limits you in those aspects as well as some others.
And do a mega build, it's good to take breaks in between projects and do other things! You learn a lot and possibly decide to try other styles and ways in buildings. At least that was my case!

I might just do that. My last mega build was my cathedral. It's at steve scale, but it's mega in the fact that it's something like a couple of hundred blocks long and I built it in survival.
I'm thinking right now I might do a huge scale hull of a 74, probably HMS Bellerophon (1786). I'm thinking of basing my Steve scale 74 off the Arrogant class anyway, and it would be interesting to do one in huge scale too. I don't even know if I would bother with the masts - this would really be a large scale project. The main thing I'd be interested in in the large scale would be the opportunity to model all the hull details that I miss out on at Steve scale.
And is it just me or do we seem to have some sort of minecraftforum shipbuilding guild coming together here?

Not a bad idea to set up a Shipbuilding server in light of recent events, eh?

Actually, I'm making a file trying to illustrate this point if you don't mind. It's also for a 21 block wide hull.
I have a model of HMS Victory on my desk, but it'd be nice to see the hull in blocks.Regarding the side galleries, those had disappeared in modern ships by about 1750. I only add galleries in older ships. Some time in the future I'm going to build the POTC Flying Dutchman, but only after I've studied the hell out of the schematics.
The Schematics of a Dream:
You can take a look at my topic for some ideas of how I made mine.
Side galleries didn't disappear anywhere, all the iconic 74-gun ships had them. Even Victory has them. They might be harder to notice though due to their more streamlined appearance.
The yellow bulges towards the stern of HMS Victory are side galleries, and basicly were used as toilets of the officers and other important people
EDIT: Even better photo!
Ah, I thought you meant the balconies in older galleons. Seeing those rooms, though, they are not easy to make in MC. My galleries are windows with large covers.

I know they are terrible to make, I couldn't make them myself properly the first time I tried...
Have you thought about making some other ship? There aren't very many good blueprints for Flying Dutchman. For example, for the HMS Revenge, which is a galleon of the same type, there are plenty of good material available. For example these blueprints:
The last one is most important, because it'll help you shape the hull - just follow the guide lines!
The Dutchman is a highly typical Galleon in its design, I can follow the Revenge's design and then alter the gun ports and galleries as required. But that picture is a lot better, funny how the modern schematics are harder to understand.

This post will later have the new Endeavour with a better hull design, most likely only half of the the hull so Signor Roska can offer his seal of approval.

I have now built half the hull, using plans I stole from *Insert Skilled Shipbuilder Here* while two of my men beat him to near death with only their fists, sailor's slops, a stick and the corner of a crafting table.
*Ahem* The new hull:
Now perhaps Roska's men won't be battering down the gates to my shipyard because I didn't curve below the waterline.

Due to the sudden sprout of all these ship building threads, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Could even make a fleet on a server or something.
